Verses about Consciences, Description Of Most Relevant Verses
Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
1 Timothy 1:19
holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.
These verses showcase how conscience is for the good and for God. Good conscience is when you know what is right from wrong and know that your actions are for God. Those without faith and conscience become lost and never know what to do because they don't have a reason for their actions.
1 Tim 3:9 > Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. > Interpretation: My own understanding of the verse is that St. Paul means that the mystery is a treasure that must be held in pure conscience. The mystery was once hidden but now it is comprehended by the truth’s of redemption.
Heb 10:22 > Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. > We must be strong in whatever we do, we must know that God is always with us to help us in our trials. We must have a pure mind and conscience so that we may do whatever is put before us in full guidance of God. We must remember that with God, nothing is impossible and that if we remember that He is with us, we are unstoppable. We know that with the spiritual armour that God has given us, we may overcome anything.
"keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith."
I believe that this bible verse speaks about how conscience and faith work together. Without one the other will fail. Without conscience we wont be able to reach our maximum capacity, we are not God we are human and faith and conscience act as our guide towards what is truly right and truly good which is God who is love.
2 Corinthians 1:12 "For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you."
This verse speaks about how how without holiness and conscience we are nothing but flesh. All the book knowledge in the world will not matter if we do not have a conscience to help us know how to us it. In the end God is the only thing that will surely last in our lives. Heaven and Earth may fade away but God will never.
Hebrews 10:22 "let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water."
The passage is telling us that in order to have a better relationship with God we must have a sincere heart and we believe in Him fully. We must not have an evil conscience that will make us astray from the Lord.
1 Tim 1:19
"keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith."
The passage wants us to have a strong faith and a good conscience. We should not follow those people who don't have a good conscience and reject their being faithful.
1 Tim 1:19 - keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. We should always have a good conscience because if we lose this then we will lose our path to God. Having good conscience means having good faith.
1 Tim 4:2 - by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, Those people who lied seared their own conscience. Through lying you ruined your own conscience like branded ng iron.
2 Corinthians 1:12 NIV [12] Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God's grace.
This passage teaches us that in order to have a good conscience, we must allow God to be the cornerstone of our faith. The only way to escape the shadows of this evil world is to take refuge in God's arms so that we may remain strong in our faith and maintain a good conscience.
1 Timothy 1:19 NIV [19] holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.
This passage shows us how highly God regards us having a good conscience. He tells us that without a good conscience and faith, our lives will deteriorate and our relationship with God will be tarnished
1 Timothy 3:9 "Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience." • This bible passage means that not only should we know our beliefs well, but we should also know how to bring it out and live it well. Everything we do must be in the name of God, and by this, we will live in purity.
1 Timothy 1:19 "Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith." • Some people tend to ignore their consciences, so their faith and relationship with God will deteriorate as well. When one does not follow or do what it right, the person's faith will wither and be broken much like a shipwreck.
1 Timothy 1:19 "Keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith." -I think that this verse means that we must not lose our faith and we mist continue to do good. If we do not follow this, then we will suffer since we are not doing the right thing and not showing good faith to our God. Also, we must continue our faith so that we will be guided in the things that we do in life.
Hebrews 10:22 "Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water." -In life, we should have good conscience and good faith to our Lord so that we will be from all evil. Also, we will be more blessed because if we do good to others we get to show good conscience and our love for god and the people around us.
1 Tim 3:9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.
This bible verse taught me that we must have a clear conscience so that we can truly understand our faith and what it means to us. Also, having a clear conscience helps us live out our faith as well.
Heb 10:22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
The bible verse taught me that being sincere with our actions will bring us closer to God and strengthen our faith. Also, having these things will clear away anything that dirties our conscience, therefore making it a clear conscience.
1 Timothy 4:2 Verse Concepts by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,
This verse means that doing bad will affect your conscience. Your conscience wants you to do good and if you do bad things like being a hypocrite and lying you will damage your conscience.
1 Timothy 1:19 Verse Concepts keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith.
This verse tells us about accepting and doing what your conscience wants. Since the others are rejecting it, they are doing wrong instead of right. God wants us to do good and so does our conscience, so if we don't follow our conscience, we are not follow God. That is why we should always follow our conscience.
Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Explanation: This biblical passage talks about how conscience is a purity and that the action of cleansing the body is also a symbolism of a clean conscience and a renewed heart. With the knowledge of sin, we are called by God to avoid such offense at all times and to have a strong assurance by having faith in Christ.
2 Corinthians 1:12 For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you.
Explanation: In this passage, it talks about our basic knowledge on good and evil and enforce the idea of what is good and how to avoid evil as a whole. It also talks about the sincerity of a person and how we should put our conscience before everything else.
Hebrews 10:22 "let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water."
- A heart is supposed to be pure. It is supposed to be taken care of. Not filling it with darkness and evil, it will only scar the heart. But there is reconciliation and forgiveness, it will heal the deepest wounds. With God's grace and love, we will never be stuck in darkness.
1 Timothy 1:19 "keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith."
- I believe, keeping your faith and having a good conscience will take you places. You don't know what God will reward you with but it will always be good. To the non-believers, there is nothing wrong with depending on your own efforts but if you are to believe that God is there to help, then God will do MORE than just bring you up 1 step. He will surprise you with gifts in disguise.
1 Timothy 1:19 keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith.
This teaches us that we should never reject we should never reject our good conscience because it can lead to a bigger loss in our faith and rejecting it can gradually destroy our relationship with god
2 Corinthians 1:12 For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you.
This teaches us that our sincerity and conscience is worth more than earthly wisdom and knowledge and as a christian we should all have not only wisdom but should also learn how to be faithful and have a good conscience like god
John 8:9 When they heard this, they all left, one by one, the older ones first. Jesus was left alone, with the woman still standing there.
This passage shows that even if others will not follow God's teachings, one must remain steadfast in following God. Our conscience will be our guide, even when all others have strayed from the path.
Romans 2:14-15 The Gentiles do not have the Law; but whenever they do by instinct what the Law commands, they are their own law, even though they do not have the Law. Their conduct shows that what the Law commands is written in their hearts. Their consciences also show that this is true, since their thoughts sometimes accuse them and sometimes defend them.
This passage shows that no matter what religion you follow, or what god you believe in, your conscience will be present to guide you. God will always be present to guide us in the form of our conscience, even if we don't know it.
1 Timothy 1:19 Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.
•The verse I have chosen is 1 Timothy 1:19. The verse is trying to tell us that if we hold on to our faith while keeping a good conscience, our life will be a happy life. Although if we reject our faith and disregard our conscience, we will suffer the consequences.
1 Timothy 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
•In this verse, it tells us if we speak lies of hypocrisy, our conscience is seared with a hot iron. The meaning behind this is that we are choosing the wrong choice thus disregarding our conscience.
The first passage that I choose is Hebrew 10:22, "let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water." It means that the more we love God, the cleaner our conscience is. God purifies our conscience and gives us right judgement. We must let God lead us the way, and follow Him.
The second passage I choose is 1 Timothy 3:9, "They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience." This line means that we must remain faithful to God, and He will give us a clear conscience. He will purify our conscience because we are faithful to Him. We must use what we have learned in our religion in order to practice our good conscience.
Romans 2:14-15 For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them,
• My interpretation of this verse is that even if a person lives in a lawless country, they can never escape the laws ( conscience) in their hearts, for if they do commit wrong with these in place, they can never escape the guilt and shame that their conscience will give them. In a way, it can say that our consciences will always prevent us from sinning, and we will always avoid sin since we don't want to feel the guilt that our conscience will make us feel due to the committed sin.
1 Timothy 4:2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,
• My interpretation of this verse is that no matter what you do, you can never escape the wrong that you have committed as it will be branded into your conscience. You cannot lie to your conscience about the things you have done since your conscience is embedded into you yourself. And due to that you cannot escape the sins you have committed no matter how much you lie to yourself.
1 Timothy 1:19 "Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith." This passage informs us of the importance of faith and conscience.
1 Timothy 3:9 "Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience." This passage gives us a guide to complete faith and good conscience.
Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
>> This passage reminds us the worth of Jesus Christ. He died for us and saved us from sin and because of his amazing sacrifice, we are free. We must honor Him by worshiping and loving Him with all your heart.
Romans 2:10 But glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek.
>> Jesus blesses the good. He is a great and loving God that He wants the best for His children
1 Timothy 3:9 but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience
One must have a pure conscience to be able to serve God. This verse tells us that this is the right way to live and serve to God. It explains that we must live a life where we have good faith and do good things.
John 8:9 And in response, they went away one by one, beginning with the elders. So he was left alone with the woman before him.
The people brought a woman that has committed adultery, to Jesus. The people asked what to do with the woman, and Jesus said that those with a clear conscience can condemn her. One by one, each of them left until only Jesus and the woman were left. It shows that all people were guilty and they had conscience to tell themselves that they musn't condemn the woman because they were also guilty.

To clearly know what is good, we should lean to God even if there are a lot of distractions in our time.
Heb 10:22 “let us approach with a sincere heart and in absolute trust, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.” - I think this verse is trying to say that we can have good conscience if we have a clean heart. We will only be able to know what is good if we ourselves feel like it is right. To have a clean heart, we should have repent for our sins and attend confession.

1 Tim 1:19 keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. - I like this one because it is true, without a good conscience bad things may happen due to the wrong way of thinking. And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day - We should always have a good conscience. Losing your conscience means losing your faith and connection to God.
Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

1 Timothy 1:19 19 holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.

1 Timothy 3:9 but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. my explanation: to have a clear conscience we should always make choice that is good and won't affect others and by doing that we should also have faith in God. like what Emmanuel Swedenborg "conscience is God's presence in man." 1 Timothy 1:1 keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. my explanation: Even that we are suffering because of our faith/religion we should still hold on that faith since God is always there for you. 1 Corinthians 8:7 "However not all men have this knowledge; but some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled."
This passage means that people still do not have conscience, or at least they are not fully aware about the conscience in them, so they do things that are wrong, and since they don't know the right thing to do, they end up sinning.
1 Timothy 4:2 "By means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron."
Hypocrite and liars are defiling their own conscience with blasphemous acts of treachery and fraud, just like a branding iron, they are branded as "sinners" for they do not have a strong conscience that leads them.
2 Corinthians 1:12 "For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you."
Our conscience to do the right things and avoid the bad is always within us, however, we opt to neglect this at times. Conscience will thoroughly lead us to the Grace of God, but it is our choice to allow our good conscience to lead us.
Paul looked directly at the council and said, "Brothers, I have lived my life with a clear conscience before God to this day." - Acts 23:1
This bible passage clearly states that Paul had a good conscience. But of course that is not the message, it is that if we want to seek God, we have to be good before his eyes.

We seek something that we don't see but we believe in and as that is happening, we retain a good mind and soul. This is because what we have in us should be worthy before Him.
Let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings, because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. - Heb 10:22

ACTS 23:1 Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said, "My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day."

1 Timothy 1:19 "Keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith."
The passage sends a message regarding the unity between conscience and faith. Just like in a relationship, you need one another in order to succeed. If only one is loving, the relationship will fail. Conscience gives us the power to do what we think is right and what we think will be able to serve our God and the ones we love.
Roman 2: 14-15 "When the non-Jews, who do not have law, practice naturally what the Law commands, they are giving themselves a law, showing that the commandments of the Law are engraved in their minds. Their conscience, speaking within themselves also shows it, when they condemn or approve their actions."
It is saying that conscience is the one that tells us the right from wrong actions without even realizing it. Conscience shows the value of these Laws being engraved in their minds.
1 Cor 8:7 But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled.
• This means that not everyone shares the same beliefs and understandings. People still hold on to their own beliefs and idols that their conscience is deterred.
1 Tim 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,
• The more people speak of lies and hypocrisy, the more they rid themselves of their own good conscience.
1 tim 3:9 — They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. // your conscience must be clear to understand the mystery of your faith. beholding faith without a clear conscience will cloud what you know.
heb 10:22 — let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. // let us go to God with a pure heart, mind, and body, along with the assurance that our faith will cleanse us. having a clean conscience will help us get closer to God, being clean and righteous in all that we do.
2 Corinthians 1:12 For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you.
>We are gifted with godly grace to know what is right from wrong, this is called the gift of conscience. We are all gifted with this but not everyone uses it for the greater glory of God.
Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
>In everything that we do, we must always try to think if this is the right thing to do. We must have a good and honest mind before doing this, so that we can exercise the gift given by God. Each and everyone one of us was given the gift of having conscience, and it is our decision whether to use this for the greater glory.
Rom 2:14-15 "They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness" > This biblical passage conveys how God's laws have become a part of the Gentiles' lives — they do not anymore need to recall them, for they already know these laws by heart and they just come out naturally.
1 Tim 1:19 "Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith." > Conscience is a tool that helps us discern right from wrong, but at the end of the day, it is still our choice that will determine the path that we will take. From this passage, let us learn how to hold on to your faith and stick with the good.
"Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them" - Romans 2:14-15
Simply enough, the message that the Biblical passage is trying to convey, is that all things have a conscience/have an inherit sense of right and wrong, despite "having no law".
"holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith." - Timothy 1:19
The message for this passage can be seen pretty clearly. Basically, as long as you have/hold on to your faith and good conscience, you would not suffer the "shipwreck in regards to the faith" mentioned in the passage. Which means that you would suffer in terms of your faith. (And possibly else where.)
1 Timothy 4:2 "speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,"
This bible verse speaks about the people whose conscience is wrong and shameful. This verse teaches us not to follow their way and their life because it will just lead us to turmoil and wrong doings. This is not how God would want us to use the freedom He freely gave for us to use.
2 Corinthians 1:12 "For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you."
This verse shows us the gift that God gave us that is our Conscience. The decisions we make are guided by the conscience that God has given us. We only have God to credit for the good in our lives, that includes the grace from the decisions we make.
"But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled."
The verse talks of how some people are so used to the habitual practices of the church that they think it right how they are doing so, thinking that it is enough for them. But in reality they do not truly believe or know what is right, they just follow, thus the practices and their faith is desecrated.
1 Timothy 4:2
"Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron."
Those who teach and spread the word with hypocrisy and lies are defiled and damaged, their consciences wounded and desecrated.
1 Timothy 3:9 "Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience."
My understanding of this bible verse is that we must fully trust in God, even though it may be hard at times. We can do this by always choosing right over wrong in our daily lives. We must keep in mind that faith and conscience work together to lead us towards the path of being a good Christian.
Hebrews 10:22 "let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water."
My understanding of this bible verse is that God is the source of our goodness. With Him by our side, continuously guiding and watching over us, He acts as holy water that cleanses our souls. By having unwavering faith and a clean conscience, we would be able to live before God without guilt.
1 Tim 1:19 This bible verse is saying that some people have suffered and given up .Although,we must fight the vices, keep our faith and have a good conscience.
Rom 2:14-15 These bible verses says that we have the freedom to choose if we want to follow the law.If Like the Gentiles, they had the freedom since they didn't really have a law but they still did what they believed was right because they have conscience.
1 Timothy 3:9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. ~For us to fully understand the mystery of faith, we must have a pure conscience. Without a pure conscience, we would be second guessing whether what we are doing is right or wrong. It would cloud your judgement.
Hebrew 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. ~In my opinion, we need to have a pure conscience to have a good heart with good intentions. If you have a dysfunctional moral compass, you wouldn't do what is right. You'd rather do what can only benefit you.
In this context, Paul is telling the people that he has a clear conscience. It means that he has lived his life well serving God and he didn't do much wrong that would taint his conscience. His conscience is pure.
Hebrew 10:22
This Bible verse means that the people have been cleared of their evil conscience because of their faith in the Lord. They have been cleansed in pure water and they're doing the right thing by following their conscience.
In this verse, I believe Paul is saying that he is content and pleased with himself. He is saying that he has lived a good life following God's Commandments
Heb 10:22
Having faith in God is giving yourself the opportunity to love Him and be loved by Him. Doing this will clear your conscience from any guilt or regret.
Its saying that conscience is the one that tells us what is right and wrong. It has a big effect in our actions without us even realizing it. Conscience shows the value of the laws we have in our mind.
1 Timothy 1:19
This passage means that our faith and conscience is suggested to be united, not only for the good of other people but also for yourself. It is beneficial for u and it is a good practice for your conscience
If one's conscience is weak, then their mind when it comes to their morals will be cloudy. We must learn to strengthen our conscience to be able to make sure that what we are doing is right and following the path of Christ.
1Tim 4:2
This verse explains that the ignorance or disobedience of one's conscience leads to sin. Not following our conscience will cause a chain reaction of misfortunes. We must learn to obey our conscience because it lets us know the difference between right and wrong, for our own betterment.
1 Timothy 3:9 We must keep hold and have faith with a clear conscience. We do not know what lies ahead in our lives. We must have faith in God's plans. We must be ready to face what lies ahead with a clear conscience. With a conscience, we will be in the right track and live our lives to please God
Hebrews 10:22
Our conscience leads us and guides us closer to the Lord. We must have faith to trust God to guide us through our conscience. Our conscience will make us repent and start our lives anew for our Lord.
BIBLE SURFING 1TIM 3:9 - I think that this verse shows our duties as children of christ. We should always keep a clear conscience so that we will know if what we are doing
1TIM 1:19 - this verse shows that we will always need a good conscience and faith to be a good follower of god
The passages shows that Paul obediently followed God's orders and he knew that God was proud of him and will accept him in to the gates of heaven. In Hebrew 10:22 It shows that pure hearted people also have good consciences.
Heb 10:22 "let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water."
This means that have good intentions will lead us to God. Conscience with pure faith in God is what will lead us to him.
Acts 23:1 Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said, "My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day."
This means that it is better to do everything in Gods's name with good intentions and good conscience rather than just living your life
"They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them." - The Laws of the Lord are tattooed in not only the Gentiles, but also our hearts. Our witness into living these laws is through the witness of our consciences; thus along with God's laws that we know by heart, but must also live our lives with a good conscience in order for us determine if we have truly engraved His laws to our hearts.
1 TIMOTHY 1:19 "...holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith." - The purpose of our consciences is in order for each of us to properly identify what if right from what is wrong. This is for our own good so that we will not be lost and confused with what to do in our everyday lives. We must always stay good and hold on to our faith; and this good faith of ours will thus lead to having a good conscience.
Acts 23:1 Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said, "My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day."
Following your conscience and doing good deeds would make God happy.
2 Corinthians 1:12
12 For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity[a] and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you.
Meaning conscience keeps us sincere and faithful to God by doing what is right.
This means that by following our conscience we would be doing good and this would please God. God would want us to do good to our neighbors and by following our conscience we would make God happy
1 Timothy 3:9
Our faith is full of many mysteries and questions and we would only be able to completely live out or faith by following our conscience
Hebrews 10:22
Our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and it must be kept pure and clean. By avoiding sin and following our conscience we would be able to glorify the lord
Jill Panganiban JF Acts 23:1 Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said, "My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day."
> In my opinion, this bible verse shows how if one uses good conscience then one can fulfill their duty to God. Good conscience leads to even greater decisions and actions that will help others to be closer to God. This verse is very inspiring because it makes me want to always fulfill my duty to God as his child. I would definitely spread this verse so that many will fulfill the duty.
Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
> This verse is a very inspiring one as well because it is about how one deals and fixes their guilty conscience through God. If one has a strong heart and a sincere heart then it will be cleansed from evil. But even if we know that we can be cleansed from our guilty conscience, we should definitely not abuse God's forgiveness and patience. Hopefully, this will make everyone's faith stronger.
Romans 2:14-15 “Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.”
> Relating it in today’s time, us human beings should only be no one like the Gentiles for our own conscience. We do not need any laws or orders in order to set ourself in leading the supposed good way. If we all have the good heart, and do the things naturally in a the proposed manner, then we can be like the Gentiles. Conscience is nowhere to be found but within ourselves and our own hearts.
John 8:9 “And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.”
> The men who brought the woman to Jesus, which are pleaded to be guilty against their conscience, should represent us at times. We tend to bring people to harm and cause more of such even though it is our only fault. We are often eaten up by the evilness in this world, that only desires nothing but satisfaction of seeing someone hurt or depicted in sorrow. These things start up the temptations, and this should be the greatest moment where our conscience must come in.
1 Timothy 1:19 “Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck”
> This passage only entails and represents the image of those who have already denied their faith by snubbing their own conscience. To hold ones faith with a good conscience is the road to having a very good life. Though, we are often disregarded to all the things that we receive and choose to hurt people without using the basic knowledge that the Lord has given us- our conscience. Through this tough action, we are finally able to make the shipwreck. Let’s make our faith and good intensions fix the broken one.
1 Corinthians 8:7 "But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled."
The given bible verse shows one of the effects of having a weak conscience. They are not able to properly differentiate right from wrong. They just keep doing something that they "think" is right, therefore ending up committing sin.
1 Timothy 4:2 "Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron."
The given bible verse shows how the hypocritical and dishonest people defile or stain their conscience by their wrongdoings. Because of the lack of conscience, they commit sin.
2 Corinthians 1:12 "For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you."
Our conscience allows us to differentiate right from wrong. A strong and good conscience allows us to experience the love and grace of God. But in the end, it is our choice alone if we allow our good conscience to lead and guide us.
Acts 23:1 - Paul is saying that he has been a good servant of God from the beginning and he always had a good conscience meaning he put God in every decision he made.
1 Timothy 3:9 - This passage is shows the role of our conscience in faith. We need to keep our conscience clear to have good faith.
Hebrews 10:22 - This verse is saying that if we improve in our relationship with God, our conscience will slowly be cleaned and we may be good servants of God.
“Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.”
🍪 This passage talks about the Gentiles who do things that are right and lawful even though they have no laws, therefore they themselves become the law. It delineates how we have the capability in our hearts to do good, and it is because of our conscience, that we can determine right from wrong and base our choices from these judgements. Like the Gentiles, we ourselves should "become the law" meaning even without the laws as our guide we need to make ourselves moral examples and be an image of goodness to others.
John 8:9
“And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.”
🍪 In this passage, it tells us how we sometimes point our fingers at others, failing to realize that we too are also sinners who deserve to be punished. Jesus stresses that we are sinners and before we judge others or throw them under the bus, we should look at ourselves first. The passage also shows the presence of conscience as the people went out one by one. Their conscience convicted them and made them feel guilty, it made them drop their stoned and leave. Another example of how conscience affects our choices and decisions.
1 Timothy 1:19
“Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck”
🍪 Deep inside people know that they are doing wrong, yet they ignore their conscience and still continue to sin, causing them to stray from God. Not only may they cause harm themselves but also God and others. These people who ignore their conscience lead a erroneous way of living and make things worse when they make choices causing them to sin. God gave us our free will for us to lead our own life, and with our freedom to choose is the responsibility to make right choices with the help of our conscience and can receive true satisfaction in life if we follow our conscience and continue to be faithful to God.
1 Corinthians 8:7 "But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled."
This is about people who are having a lack of conscience where they are not aware about right or wrong so they end up sinning.
1 Timothy 4:2 "Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron."
The bible verse shows that hypocrites and dishonest people defile their own conscience with their sins and this shows that they lack conscience.
2 Corinthians 1:12 "For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you."
God gave us our conscience so that we have the knowledge about what is right or what is wrong but it is us who will decide if we have a good conscience so that it could lead us to the glory of God.
Acts 23:1 - If you keep doing good conscience God would help you and reward you greatly.
1 Timothy 3:9 - To know Gods true meaning and his faithful mysteries, we must stay faithful to God and to have good conscience.
Hebrews 10:22 - When we do bad things we tend to use our conscience badly but if we control our selves and pray to God, he will help you to become a better person. Never stop believing on him, he has a plan for all of us.
Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. Even if the don't have the law, conscience is always there in their hearts. God is in a form of conscience and He will guide us when we are lost or tempted.
John 8:9
“At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.” Even if everyone has left and does not believe in the teachings of Jesus there is always one person that remains steadfast to Jesus. Our conscience will lead us to the right path even if most has stumbled in the path to sin.
1 Timothy 1:19
“Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.” This is true and we should all practice holding on to faith and a good conscience because this is what leads us to heaven to be with God and Jesus eternally. If we do not practice this act, we will all stumble to sin and help satan accomplish his plan.
- This bible verse shows that if you live your life before God by following your conscience and by doing good deeds then he will shower you with blessings.
1 Timothy 3:9
- this bible verse tell us that in order to strengthen our faith in God, we must follow our good conscience and keep the mystery of faith.
Hebrew 10:22
- this bible verse tells us that we should keep our body clean from sin and guilty conscience for us to be closer to God.
"Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them."
What I understand in these verse is that even though a law is not given the law is already written in your heart. Our witness for these laws is our conscience where having a good conscience in our mind and heart determines whether we followed the laws of God or not.
John 8:9
"9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there."
This verse shows that even though we are guilty of something we shouldn't bring others to the problem. With evilness in the world our only desired is nothing but satisfaction of seeing one person getting hurt or being tortured.Seeing these kinds of things brings us temptations where it should be the right time for our conscience to come in our minds.
1Timothy 1:19
"19keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. "
This verse shows that most of us denied our faith by removing our own conscience. To hold our faith we should have a good conscience to live a good life.Even though we often disrespect others and hurt others without using the basic knowledge which is conscience. With our behavior we are able to make the shipwreck because of the wrong doings that we are making. To able to fix the shipwreck we should put ourselves in the right path by doing the right thing and respecting one other.
Acts 23:1 The verse above says a lot on what we catholics should do. We catholics should always have a good conscience since it is what the Lord wants. Having a good conscience can help us people understand all the problems of our world and as well as solving the problems that the world faces. All we need is a good conscience so that we may follow the Lord in heaven.
1 Timothy 3:9 The verse above talks about conscience. It is being talked about in a way you can have a good faith which is very pleasing to God while having a pure conscience. Pure conscience means we know what we are doing whether it is right or wrong for all the good of us people and the Lord. Having a pure conscience while having a good faith can help a person be closer to God the father.
Hebrews 10:22 This verse says a lot on how we should approach God. It states that we should have a sincere heart which means we should love everyone no matter what they do to you as a person. We should also have full assurance with faith so that we can remove all the guilt we have from all the since we people have committed against the Lord.
Relating it in todays times us people should make the Gentiles our role models for they clearly show that you can be good and avoid evil with your own actions and your won heart. This Roves that wee do not need any laws or orders in order to set ourself in leading the supposed good way. If we all have the good heart and the right mindset knowing what is good and bad then we can be like the Gentiles. Conscience can only be found in one place and one place only our hearts and our minds.
John 8:9 “And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.”
This passage I believe shows how fast we can point fingers right away without realizing what we have done. We tend to bring people to harm and cause more of such even though it is our only fault. We are often eaten up by the evilness in this world that we have forgotten our main reason for doing this which is for Jesus Christ who saved us from our sins. These things are one of the best example of a temptations and this should be one of the greatest moment where our conscience must come in and help us avoid evil and sin.
Timothy 1:19
“Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck”
People know that deep inside them that some things that they do are wrong but they choose to abandon that feeling which leads to a shipwreck. Which leads to them actually destroying their relationship with God. These people who ignore their conscience do sin a lot and in result lives a horrid and horrible life. God gave us our free will for us to lead our life where we wanna go and we should use this to make batter decisions.
14 Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.
This verse talks about how the Gentiles rely on their conscience to determine their actions, whether something is right or wrong, even if they do not have official laws. It also shows that our conscience helps us to determine what is right or wrong, and how we all, have the capability to do good and avoid evil. Therefore, like the Gentiles, we must make our conscience a guide for us to take a certain path and make good decisions that come from our hearts.
John 8:9
9 But upon hearing this, they went away, one by one, beginning with the eldest. And Jesus alone remained, with the woman standing in front of him.
This verse shows how people can turn away from God, letting their conscience be clouded. They have chosen to ignore the teachings of God and decided to leave, all but one faithful woman. This teaches us that even if we say we believe in God, we can always be persuaded otherwise. Moreover, the verse also teaches that even if majority of the people no longer have faith, there will always be that one person who still has faith. And as little as that may be, that is all Jesus really needs.
1 Timothy 1:19
19 holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.
I believe that this verse is applicable to almost everyone. We all have done something wrong at one point in our lives. Deep down inside we knew our actions were wrong, yet we chose to do it. We were given the conscience to know what is right and when we ignore our morals, it may lead us to sin. We were given the freedom to choose and our actions always have a consequence. We must be responsible for the choices we make and remain faithful to God.
1 Corinthians 8:7 " But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled."
>My understanding of this verse is that, when one makes a decision to do something good, s/he will think that his/her act will be known as something above all. That what s/he did was the most purest thing on Earth and that s/he deserves and/or expects a great reward in the end. In a Christian perspective, as we dedicate our lives serving God, some of us believe that doing very few acts of kindness will give us a straight pass to heaven and therefore, not continuously do good on a daily basis. This is what defiles our conscience - the false idea of expecting so much in return for only doing so little.
1 Timothy 4:2 " Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron."
>Relating this to how our world works today, I'd relate this verse to peer pressure. How everything that is bad (like drugs, smoking, glorification of sex, etc.) has become a social norm today, was because of peer pressure and the need to belong. Our generation and the generations before us has developed the idea that doing wrong acts was something "cool" and in turn, majority of the peoples conscience slowly gets destroyed. And yet, this is passed on to the next generation, teaching mostly bad ideals and forgetting about the good. We are teaching the future kids "what we believe is right" and not what is actually right, we are the "hypocritical liars".
2 Corinthians 1:12 "Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity[a] and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace."
>When it is judgment day, something we can be confident about is how our mind's think given a situation and how sincere we are when it comes to doing good acts. In confidence, those who have done good knows that they are doing acts in which makes God happy. These people are those who are humble and selfless, and in their acts, it is not logic nor human teachings that make them commit good acts. It is their morals, it is the Holy Spirit that has descended upon them, it is God's eternal and never-ending grace, that compels them to do good. God is the source of all things good, and we are created in His likeliness. He is what represents our good actions and in turn, we commit good deeds to serve Him.
Romans 2:14-15 "They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness" In the passage, it showed how they didn't need laws to be able to do what is right. It is already in their hearts and they do it naturally.
1 Timothy 1:19 "Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith." This passage shows how faith and conscience work together. Conscience will help us decide between right and wrong but we must not neglect what our faith dictates.
"And Paul, looking stedfastly on the council, said, Brethren, I have lived before God in all good conscience until this day."
- This shows that we, people of the Lord, must live before God and always follow our conscience, and face challenges remembering what is good from what is evil.
1 Timothy 3:9
"holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience."
- When we practice our faith, we should have a good heart when doing so, and to live harmoniously as one people under the Lord our God.
Hebrews 10:22
"let us draw near with a true heart in fulness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience: and having our body washed with pure water, "
- There can be times when we sin and sin again, but we must return to the Lord in open arms, and repent to Jesus all the faults influenced by an evil conscience. Finally, as we do this, we are cleansed and that we should keep in mind the good conscience that we have.
Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said, “My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day.”
The passage means that we should always do the right thing because it is our mission to be a follower of christ and a good example to others.
Heb 10:22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
God will always be here to guide us and will always open his arms to accept us no matter what. He will forgive us and cleanse our body with his fruitful love.
Romans 2:14-15 "For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness, and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them. New American" * The message is to declare that God, who created the heavens and the earth and all that is within them, is both just and loving. He will judge each man according to his or her own deeds, taking into account the faith they have in serving Him with a clear conscience.
John 8:9 "And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the oldest, even to the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the middle." * Being convicted by their own conscience - So it is likely they were all guilty of similar crimes. Their own is not in the original, and is needless: being convicted by conscience is expressive enough.
1 Timothy 1:19 "Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck;" * If you stop being faithful to God and quit listening to your good conscience, then your faith will be destroyed, or "shipwrecked".
2 Corinthians 1:12 "For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you." > this passage means that our conscience depends on how we act like and behave & our surroundings. since almost all of us have different surroundings from one another, our stand in what is wrong and what is right will surely be different.
1 Tim 4:2 "speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron," > this passage means that by telling lies and being a hypocrite can greatly affect your conscience, negatively. to avoid this, we must be honest and do good to have a good conscience.
John 8:9 When they heard this, they all left, one by one, the older ones first. Jesus was left alone, with the woman still standing there.
This passage implied that even if not all will follow God's teachings, there must be one who will remain faithful in obeying/following God. Our conscience will always be our guide, it will be the one who will teach us to do what is right and avert us into giving in temptation.
This passage shows that no matter what your religion is, what god you believe in, how much faith you have, your conscience is always at hand and there to guide you into doing the right things.
"And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.”
-As children of God, we should strive to achieve true Christian morality by consistently having a good conscience through good judgment and acts of kindness. Along with this, we should encourage others to listen to their conscience so that they may also be properly guided by The Lord. Also, through influences and role models such as Paul, we are able to witness someone who has committed his life for God by living in a good conscience.
1 Timothy 3:9
"Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.”
-Our faith is riddled with situations and other mysteries which we have yet to understand. And in order for us to truly see the meaning behind these, we should perform genuine acts of compassion for others, so that we may have a pure conscience.
Hebrews 10:22
"let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”
- As humans, we have the tendency to sin and stray away from the path that The Lord is trying to guide us along. With this, we fail to remain faithful to Him. With a clouded conscience, we cannot be able to see the full goodness of God. Thus, by repenting and recognizing the Lord’s goodness, we can be able to cleanse ourselves from our faults, which will be able to make us closer to Him.
-Not everyone is aware of consciences and how it can affect our right and wrong choices. Some people chose to disregard it because it inhibits them from achieving what they want (by putting themselves before anything else). When they start to do it, they will continue to do it as it has "satisfied" them, which isn't right because you need conscience to tell you right and wrong choices while you decide to follow them or not. When you decide to follow the right instead of the wrong your morals guide you to seek the better choices for betterment of all.
1 Timothy 4:2-
-Our conscience is greatly affected by the people that surround us, meaning there are many factors which affects our decision making even if our conscience tells us whether it is right or wrong. Sometimes our conscience and proper decision making skills are hindered by the influence of people around us, because even if we believe it is wrong we still may do it only because of the people around us. To counter this we must be aware of the people that surround us so that we may pick the right people to be around to be guided correctly.
2 Corinthians 1:12-
-When we use our conscience and actually listen to it with regards to Christian morality and our own morals, then can we actually make a right decision for an action. When we do actions, there are times we do not use our conscience at all but only go by instinct or "gut feeling" which does not take into account anything that may help you decide the correct decision which will be better for more than just yourself. We need God's grace when we make decisions as only he knows what's best for us as God has a plan for everybody and he will do the rest after we have started it.
Acts 23:1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day. — A good conscience is necessary because without it, you cannot practice proper faith. To see God, we must do what is pleasing in His eyes. We can fulfill this by doing actions that show our love for not only Him, but for the people around us as well.
1 Timothy 3:9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. — We can only understand the true meaning of our faith once we have a clean conscience. This is important so that we can learn to properly serve God. A good life relies not only on belief, but must also be accompanied by good deeds.
Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. — We must know that God is always with us in everything we do. Having a pure mind and conscience is they key to avoiding evil. With Him, all things are possible, and we become greater than the trials set before us.
1 Corinthians 8:7 " But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled."

"14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.)"
This passage tells us that everyone is capable of upholding law through the Gentiles as an example, yet there is chaos widespread as a result of people's actions. They should be more like the Gentiles from this passage.
John 8:9
"9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there."
Nobody has the right to accuse another person of sin when they themselves had sinned, and there is no going around that fact because if it is not the sins they commit, it is the original sin that, even if it was washed away, existed within the person in the first place.
1 Timothy 1:19
"19 holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith."
When thinking of such a shipwreck, one can say that faith is a vessel transporting us to God, and by letting go of one's faith and letting it fall to disrepair is a person left in a sea of sin.
This Bible verse implies that some of the leaders today do not have a good conscience. Yet they are the one's teaching us and telling us what to do.
2 Corinthians 1:12
This Bible verse says that we must use our conscience in God's favor. One of the main reasons we have to follow our conscience is to please God and do what he wants us to do.

1 Corinthians 8:7 - "But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled."
When those people who commit idolatry try doing anything sacred to honor the Lord, the action doesn't count in God's eyes. This is because they have weak consciences and they have committed the sin of idolizing other gods.
1 Timothy 4:2 - "Influenced by the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared."
The liars are the ones whose consciences labeled themselves bad people. That is why we must be careful not to get influenced by them, for we too could turn into liars with seared consciences.
Nathaniel Castaños JG 1 Corinthians 8:7 "However not all men have this knowledge; but some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled." - Not all people in the world have a good conscience or believe in the concept of it. Living without conscience strays us from faith in God and leads us to false idols/beliefs. Without conscience we are in danger of immorality and false beliefs.
2 Corinthians 1:12 "For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you." - We should always listen to our conscience. It is not always our knowledge or opinions that should dictate how we act, to truly display the grace of God and that the Holy Spirit lives within us, we should act with our conscience.
JI 1 Corinthians 8:7 But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled.
In this passage i think it means that people dont know the fine line between helping God and others. We should not use others as stairs going to God but we should boost each other and through hard work God will reward us more.
1 Timothy 4:2 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,
I think this passage tell us that having a conscience does not just mean telling others to do what is right. Having a conscience gives us a path towards the right way which means we should use it and while going through the path we should take others with us.
Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said, “My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day.” ~ a good conscience is important to ones life because it showcases if what we've done is good or helpful to others or yourself.
1 Timothy 3:9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. ~ if you want to have a clear conscience you will always be faithful and tell the truth.

1 Timothy 1:19 keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith.
A conscience of one person differs from another. It doesn't matter if one commit a great sin; but, what matters most is your faith in God and if you decide to do the right thing and stay beside him the whole time no matter what happens. Basically, no matter how you are in life, if your conscience is good and you have just a right amount of faith, you will be saved from evil. Faith is important. It is what makes what we believe in real and concrete. Conscience never stops and never bases it on how one's life is. It is our choices and it may change our lives.
"For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you."
Having a good conscience is not about how smart you are or how wealthy you are. A good conscience is about how good of a heart you have, how morally good you are.
1 Timothy 1:19
"Holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting this, some have made shipwreck of their faith."
Never reject a good conscience because you have lost your moral faith. Faith and conscience should never be rejected because that is one way to heaven.
John 8:9 "Those who heard Jesus began to leave one by one, first the older men and then the others. Jesus was left there alone with the woman standing before him."
- People sometimes do not realize that what they know to be right is actually wrong. Our societal view may seem right, however through God's eyes it may be wrong. Do not be closed minded on things without seeing the perspective of other people.
1 Timothy 1:19 "Continue to have faith and do what you know is right. Some people have rejected this, and their faith has been shipwrecked."
-As Christians, we must always have faith in God. If we are loyal, then we will be rewarded. Do not be fooled by those temptations around you. Do what is right and you will have eternal life.
14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.)
John 8:9King James Version (KJV)
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
These verses both say one message. Even when no one says what they are doing is wrong, their conscience will tell them if what they are doing is good or bad. It is the persons choice to choose if they would follow their conscience. Just as John 8:9 verse described, it was their conscience that told them that they were wrong. Conscience is what we feel is right based from the voice in our hearts.
But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience
- People tend to not have the right mind or conscience. Their conscience thinks that by eating sacrificial food is a sacrifice to God. They think this way because of their influences around them.

1. Chosen Verse: 1 Timothy 4:2 — Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

1 Timothy 1:19 Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.
I think what the bible tells us about conscience is that having a good conscience helps us live a better life. Also, given that we, too, have our own flaws, so we don't have the right to judge others.

All that we've, all the good that we've done comes from the good of God. He is our conscience and the reason we should be doing all things. Our conscience doesn't come from our own thought, but from the grace and wisdom that comes from God.

However, the Lord teaches that in order to act in accordance with his word, we must have a pure mind and conscience. By living a life of faithful disposition, not only is our faith strengthened, but also our relationship with God and our relationship with those around us.

This shows how even without laws or punishments the human conscience which was given to us by God instinctively lets us do what is right and even if we dont know it our conscience guides us to do what is morally right

Interpretation: When you loose your faith you also loose your conscience, and your ability to identify/choose which is right or wrong.
Hebrews 10:22 "let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water."
-To come close to God, we must have a open mind and good conscience. Otherwise, we'll begin to question and doubt our faith, which will only keep us away from God.
Hebrews 10:22 "Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them."
-People may not be bounded by the law at times, however, they are bounded by their conscience. Our conscience can take control of actions, despite our freedom, because the conscience tells us the consequences that comes with the actions we may do. It also does this by giving judgement of what is right or wrong, which is done by giving thoughts that support or conflict with our actions.
1 Timothy 1:19 "Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked."
-When one turn away from God, his conscience becomes damaged. It could become so damaged up to the point where he could not make good judgement on what is right or wrong. Without good judgement, it become harder for one turn back to God as he would commit more wrong actions or decisions.
"Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water."
We should have a pure heart, free of darkness, and also undying faith in the Lord and this will cleanse our conscience and lead us to his kingdom.
1 Timothy 1:19
"Keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith."
We are given a conscience, but it is up to us to keep it pure or taint it with evil.
1 Timothy 3:9
"Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience."
Through a pure conscience we understand the meaning of our faith.
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
We need to have faith and have a pure heart to be able free ourselves from all evil around us.
Romans 2:14King James Version (KJV)
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Even if the Gentiles did not have any law or rules to follow, they still did good because they had the conscience and the heart that God has given them.
> Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. >We must always have faith and believe in God,that he will always be there to guide us to the right path in life. And we must always strive to have a good conscience and believe that God will continue to improve and give us a good conscience throughout our lives.
1 Corinthians 8:7
> But not everyone knows this. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat such food they think of it as having been sacrificed to an idol, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled. >Once we make judgements such as putting our faith in "other gods" our conscience slowly begins to disappear which would cause us to have poor judgement. And with this poor judgement we slowly turn away from God which makes it harder for us to return the conscience we had before and harder for us to turn back to God.
John 8:9
> At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. > There will be a time where people will move away from God because of something they would know about. But there would be some people that would remain faithful to God and these are the people we should follow because during our hard times God never left us,so that gives us a reason to have faith in him and not leave him.
1 Timothy 1:19 Holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith.
Explanation: Unfortunately, there are many people who have taken for granted their gift of "God's presence in them" which is their conscience by simply ignoring it or using it wrongly. God gave us the freedom of choice from the time when man was created in the likeness of the Most High. God may have made us look like Him, but in the end we did not turn out completely like Him for He gave us a conscience to choose from right and wrong. Sadly, Adam and Eve decided to ignore their conscience and freely chose to eat the Forbidden Fruit. From that sin, we have been affected by it till now. From that choice God had to sacrifice His only Son to become the Salvation of all of us sinners just because He is merciful and loving. It is up to us to find ways to thank or repay God and Jesus for their love and sacrifice they did for us to have a chance of eternal life after death. One way of repaying God is by following our conscience and keeping to the Christian faith. Those who have ignored their conscience and decided to commit wrongdoings have lost their connection to God and their hold on faith. This must be prevented as much as possible and if ever it is done with an unclear conscience one must seek forgiveness and repent to regain his/her bond to God.
Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Explanation: Having an open heart and mind is the key to having God's presence in us. God can not be part of us if we do not welcome Him fully with open arms. We as believers must "let go and let God" do what He must do. From the day someone is baptized, he/she receives the Holy Spirit for the first time and also the Spirit's and God's gift of conscience. This gift is the compass of life. It directs us to the good choices and diverts us from the bad ones. This compass is not merely a tool that can be used when one feels like it, but it is the tool we must always use to build our lives on good choices or good foundation.
1 Timothy 3:9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
Explanation: We can only understand what God is planning for us in life if and only if we follow the voice given to us by God in our minds all throughout our lives. When we all have open minds and hearts to someone or something we can not see, that already is the sign of our faith to God. We follow our gut or instinct to believe in the unknown miracles or mysteries that God has and will perform for us because of the gift of conscience. That voice speaking to us is also like the Holy Spirit. It is there telling us that that thing we believe in is really there and that we should have faith and offer everything up to that something that we believe in. We can never fully understand what God has done and is planning for us, but we can be sure that we can understand His works by following Him through faith and a good conscience.

2 Corinthians 1:12
"For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you."
This verse speaks about how how without holiness and conscience we are nothing but flesh. All the book knowledge in the world will not matter if we do not have a conscience to help us know how to us it. In the end God is the only thing that will surely last in our lives. Heaven and Earth may fade away but God will never.

This verse tells us about accepting and doing what your conscience wants. Since the others are rejecting it, they are doing wrong instead of right. Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.
•The verse I have chosen is 1 Timothy 1:19. The verse is trying to tell us that if we hold on to our faith while keeping a good conscience, our life will be a happy life. Although if we reject our faith and disregard our conscience, we will suffer the consequences.

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
•In this verse, it tells us if we speak lies of hypocrisy, our conscience is seared with a hot iron. The meaning behind this is that we are choosing the wrong choice thus disregarding our conscience.
The first passage that I choose is Hebrew 10:22,
ReplyDelete"let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water." It means that the more we love God, the cleaner our conscience is. God purifies our conscience and gives us right judgement. We must let God lead us the way, and follow Him.
The second passage I choose is 1 Timothy 3:9,
"They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience." This line means that we must remain faithful to God, and He will give us a clear conscience. He will purify our conscience because we are faithful to Him. We must use what we have learned in our religion in order to practice our good conscience.

1 Timothy 1:19
"Keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith."
The passage sends a message regarding the unity between conscience and faith. Just like in a relationship, you need one another in order to succeed. If only one is loving, the relationship will fail. Conscience gives us the power to do what we think is right and what we think will be able to serve our God and the ones we love.
Roman 2: 14-15
"When the non-Jews, who do not have law, practice naturally what the Law commands, they are giving themselves a law, showing that the commandments of the Law are engraved in their minds. Their conscience, speaking within themselves also shows it, when they condemn or approve their actions."
It is saying that conscience is the one that tells us the right from wrong actions without even realizing it. Conscience shows the value of these Laws being engraved in their minds.

ReplyDelete"They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness"

"Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith."
> Conscience is a tool that helps us discern right from wrong, but at the end of the day, it is still our choice that will determine the path that we will take.

Not only may they cause harm themselves but also God and others. These people who ignore their conscience lead a erroneous way of living and make things worse when they make choices causing them to sin.

1 Timothy 4:2
" Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron."

Your faith and relationship with God will be squandered if you do not follow your conscience. You need to remember that everything you do is your choice, so if you do something wrong, there is no one to blame but you and you are the only person to blame for breaking your bond with God by breaking your moral conscience.

“For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you.”
This verse teaches us to follow our good conscience so that we may obtain God’s grace and be closer to Him. We should allow our good conscience to lead us to a righteous path, which is a path of simplicity and godly sincerity.
1 TIMOTHY 4:2
"By means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron."
Hypocrites and liars follow their guilty conscience — which is a bad thing. They “sear their own conscience with an iron”, and this symbolizes that they damage the purity of their conscience by giving in to temptation and committing blasphemous acts.

ReplyDeleteHolding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith.
Explanation:
Unfortunately, there are many people who have taken for granted their gift of "God's presence in them" which is their conscience by simply ignoring it or using it wrongly.
Hebrews 10:22
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Explanation:
Having an open heart and mind is the key to having God's presence in us.
1 Timothy 3:9
Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
Explanation:
We can only understand what God is planning for us in life if and only if we follow the voice given to us by God in our minds all throughout our lives.
