9. The song 'Let’s Marvin Gaye and Get it on' is about Gay people having sex, The phrase itself means lets have sex. I didnt even knew till now. This is related to our topic of sexuality because our topic talks about human sexuality. Human sexuality is the way someone is sexualy attracted to another may it be Hetero,Homo,bi,pan, or asexuality. Like in the song its about Gay people being sexually attracted to each other.
10. I will post and spread about the True and Proper treatment of Human sexuality. Even if i get turned down or ignored I will try my best and do it non stop because sooner or later they will realize it someday, and comeback to me either because sudden realization or their experience.

9.) The title of the song has a meaning of its own when it comes to the LGBT community. Form them it means "lets have intercourse." This relates to our topic in many ways that this man's name is used for such an act. Sexuality is a gift from God nad should no be used with evil desires.
10.) I can show those social media site that Human sexuality is like a gift from someone. That we must respect what we recieve and accept the fact that it is beautiful. Others might think differently but all of their opinions don't matter for only God's opinion and or facts matter with uptmost importance. ReplyDelete1.) Discuss nature vs nurture theory in view of understanding human sexuality.
For me, human sexuality is the limitation of humans to have that “erotic” replies. Moreover, one’s sexual orientation can influence their sexual interest / attraction of a certain person. Accordingly, it has been said that it just part of our nature that biology was even discussed— stating that our instincts are the ones that control our own beliefs and actions towards this issue. Albeit, the nurture debate states that our own sexuality are influenced by the outside forces that we go through and encounter every day.
2.) Discuss Sigmund Freud and John Locke's contention of nature vs nurture.
According to Sigmund Freud, preached that sexual “sexual drives” are instinctive and viewed sexuality as the centre of the human’s personality. In addition, he also expected that such behaviour was rooted in biology, proposing that the instincts are the principal motivating forces in the mental realm. Meanwhile, John Locke preached the theory of the mind being known as a “tabula rasa” (blank slate), the environment in which one drives their sexuality. Moreover, he also believed that people are vigorously shaped by their social environments— that whatever is folded on the mind will comes from his/ her surrounding as the person seeks for his / her identity.
3.) Discuss the biological and social differences between a man and a woman.
Physical: It is said and proven that girls / women are able to mature in an earlier stage than that of the boys.
Psycho-emotional and Spiritual: It is said and proved that boys/ men become more competitive whilst women become more nurturing, conscious and protective.
4.) Why is sexuality seldom discussed openly in the family?
It is only because of such that sexuality is a very susceptible and delicate topic, especially to us Filipinos. During these discussions, we tend to feel awkward and uncomfortable with our family as we exchange responses to what we should have been dealing with “normally”. Maybe, this is mainly because of not growing up with the “used” situation and practices and discussions. Families tend to limit theirselves in one context that they are too afraid to splurge out the truth and reality of each and everyone of us. This kind of sexuality discussion is very essential to young people as they can be guided with open-mindedness and clarity.

ReplyDelete5.) Discuss the Christian view of sexuality.
According to faith street, all humans are concurrently sinful and loved. This only means that despite of all the wrong doings and decisions that we have made, God’s love and grace is where we find solace. Second, Jesus was not silent about homosexuality. In fact, he was unequivocal in understanding marriage and sexual union of both men and women. He brings up the creation story— making us realise that male and female are for each other. Furthermore, children have the right to have a mother and father. “This was the first command God gave to the first two humans: to come together and bring forth the coming generations of new divine image-bearers.” On the other hand, same-sex attraction is not a sin. Unless you give into the desire and attraction to pleasure, then it makes you sin. We all go through temptations that sometimes compels and drives us to the road of committing sin, but as long as we don’t fall into such, then we are good. Furthermore, sexual intimacy is not right or valid for it is exclusive to one’s spouse. Lastly, people are always more than their sexuality. By this, we should not limit the horizon of seeing things from a person just because he / she has a different sexuality. We should try digging deeper to see the true values of the person and not cover up everything he / she has with their sexuality.

6.) Why is human sexuality a gift?
God mainly intended this “gift” to both man and woman— this is because of procreation. God blessed each with this to bear a child and further expand his children.
7.) Discuss the Biblical basis of sexuality.
God found “sex” and gifted it to the first male and female. On the other hand, sexual relations or such sexuality is limited to those who have been married already for it is a thing that should be appreciated ones bonded by God. People this day tend to reciprocate the meaning and just abuse the true essence of sexuality in their everyday lives. Sexuality is just normal for a person as long as its true meaning is not further slammed.

By definition, chastity is sexual self-control with the right knowledge that sexual intimacy is limited to one relationship: marriage. First step to grow in chastity is to understand what sex really is— in the words of God. And then, we make sure that we have an open-mind to extend our thoughts to the teachings and preachings of God about this for this performance is very sacred. Moreover, we should apprehend our own temptations and try not to give in. We should learn all the basic preachings to further elaborate and apply it to our everyday lives. But before everything else, we should extend our faith to God for he is the very spirit of such concept.
9.) Give your reaction in view of the song Let’s Marvin Gaye and Get it on in relation to our topic: Human Sexuality.
As a person with right consciousness, I am abhorred by each and everyone’s action to such. I can say that the people who have been playing a role are to act like they just gave in to their “temptations”, thus, making them sin. The essence of chastity just disappeared in each’s heart that their sexuality and true meaning of sex just dominated over them. There were different contributors to such actions which were the bisexuals, homosexuals, and much more. Furthermore, this song has reach the limit of devastating the word, “kama sutra”. Such word and profound meaning was lighted up in the song that in no doubt, inherited the wrong understanding of the real meaning of the word. This song is a very great example for our action-reaction decisions that lead us to sin while carrying our own identity.
10.) How will you promote or revolutionize the social media such as twitter and facebook or Instagram as regards the true and proper treatment of HUMAN SEXUALITY most especially among the youth.
First, I would aid all the total exposures of the young users in the said social media accounts. I will make sure that each social media accounts have security and appropriateness in different variety of ages. There are hundred ways of promoting human sexuality and one of which is using a social media account. By spreading the true meaning of human sexuality and how such amount of people are affected, then people who didn’t expect to see such information would just then be educated in an instant. This is just a matter of passing the information from one person to another to save the youth, better of, to save theirselves too

The song's title, "let's Marvin Gaye and get it on", means "lets have sex" in the LGBT community. This is related to our topic in a sense that sex is losing it's deeper meaning since it's becoming a more casual act. Sexuality is supposed to be a gift from God to man, and is intended not to be abused whatsoever.
10.) How will you promote or revolutionize the social media such as twitter and facebook or Instagram as regards the true and proper treatment of HUMAN SEXUALITY most especially among the youth.
I would post about the true meaning of human sexuality and explain that it is a gift and shouldn't be abused. It wouldn't matter whether or not people agree to this, but it is important to at least try to spread the real meaning of human sexuality

A person can grow in chastity if he/she is educated by his/her parents and/or teachers about the purity of sexuality. A person must not fall under the many temptations of chastity, but instead resist the urge of committing it.

My reaction to this song based on our current lesson is that sexuality nowadays is openly talked about and expressed. Though it is good to show the many interpretations of human sexuality there are some that may mislead. This song may have a nice tune to it, but the lyrics suggest something more lustful.

In my opinion if I were to promote true human sexuality I would begin with campaigns such as simple slogans and simple symbols which symbolize the proper treatment of human sexuality. I would start open forums and discuss this matter of true human sexuality.

All of us, as Christians under God, can grow in chastity by having inner discipline and values to guide us in making the right choices in life. Oftentimes, we simply become impatient to explore what life has in store for us; therefore, we do something we regret. However, simply being disciplined and having respect for the value and dignity of the human body can make a big difference. It just pays to always treat everyone appropriately and to have that self-control that prevents you from doing what you are not supposed to.

To put it simply, I was quite shocked at how media is right now. When I first heard this song on the radio, I just thought that it was a nice and catchy song. However, when I found out about its hidden messages on human sexuality, I was just stunned with how much our media has changed for the worst. Most of what we see seems to always have an injected meaning in it, and I think that it is a bad message for future generations. My take on this is that we really need to be careful with what we see, and we should learn to discern when we are watching/listening to something sincere, or of we are just listening to a message no one wants to hear.
10.) How will you promote or revolutionize the social media such as twitter and facebook or Instagram as regards the true and proper treatment of HUMAN SEXUALITY most especially among the youth.
If I had any of the following social networking sites, I would probably share my insights on how our world right now can still change for the better, considering how influential media can be, and nowadays a lot of it usually has bad messages as I have said. I would remind people to simply respect others for who they are, as humans created by God, since I believe that it only takes a simple reminder and a push to prove to others that it is still possible to remove the bad influences that our media can sometimes relay. I firmly have faith that God will forgive us and help us to once again go back to what really is valuable, which is pure and simple kindness to others.

Nature is defined as behavioral traits or sexual behavior is determined by innate characteristics or genetics. On the other hand, nurture is the belief that sexual behavior is modeled by the environment.
2. Discuss Sigmund Freud and John Locke’s contention of nature vs nurture.
According to Sigmund Freud, behavior was rooted in biology or genes. He proposed that instincts (“Eros” the life instinct and “Thanatos” the death instinct) are the principal motivation in sexual drives. He also believed that sexuality is the central source of human personality. However, John Locke believed in the idea of nurture. He believed that people are shaped strongly by their social environment. He claims that a child’s mind should be viewed as a tabula rasa or a blank slate; whatever goes into the mind will come from the child’s environment.
3. Discuss the biological and social differences between a man and a woman.
The biological difference between men and women is that women mature earlier than men, but men tend to be physically stronger than women. Men also tend to be more competitive, while women are nurturing and protective. The social difference between men and women is that men are expected to be the primary breadwinner while the wife is expected to manage the home. However these roles have changed because of the social and economic changes.
4. Why is sexuality seldom discussed int he family?
Sexuality is rarely discussed openly in the family because parents think it would be awkward to talk about it with their children. Also, they think that once they inform them about what sexuality is, they would be encouraging their children to the act itself. However, that is not the case. Educating your children about the right meaning of sexuality will prevent them from experimenting and exploring it.

Sexuality signifies an essential dimension of the whole person, by which he/she enters into relationship with others. Sexuality is not the same as the sex act.

It is God-given power for love and generativity that we must learn to integrate more fully within out total selves.
7. Discuss the Biblical basis of sexuality.
In the beginning God created man in his image- male and female. He then told them to be fertile and multiply. The bible states that God created male and female to love each other, and then multiply to fill the world with life and love. The most important important detail to remember here is that the relationship between the man and woman have to be bounded by love, before they reproduce.
8. How can a person grow in chastity?
You must not have any sexual relations before marriage. Once you get married, you must stay faithful to your husband and wife. A person must have control over his/her sexual appetite and understand the true value of sexuality.

Once you hear the song, the message being portrayed is very clear, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good message. Just like any other song on the radio today, the song is about engaging in sexual acts even before marriage. It saddens me how much sex has been commercialized nowadays, especially in the arts, just to make profit. It’s become so commercialized that some people don’t know the true meaning of it anymore. They think sex is no big deal, when it is supposed to be a big deal.

I will first say my stand about proper treatment of human sexuality to attract the attention of people who feel the same way and to let them know that they are not alone in feeling this way. Then, I will post an infographic about the basics of the right meaning of human sexuality and try my best to make it go viral. Since our generation is very visual, they won’t be attracted to a 5 paragraph essay of me explaining my stand and the meaning of human sexuality, but an infographic will surely catch their attention much more.

Nature for me in simple terms is saying that your human sexuality is something you were born with, something that is there within you ever since. It is like saying that God gave this gift to you as who you are. Your sexuality is given by God, so even what other people or other things do to you or happen to you, you will still have the same sexuality that you are supposed to have, because it is given by God. It says that it is our genetics that define who we are.
Nurture on the other hand is saying that our human sexuality is influenced by the people and things around us, it talks of how we are only who we are because of people and things influencing us. It says that our sexuality is modelled by the environment that we live in.
2.) Discuss Sigmund Freud and John Locke's contention of nature vs nurture.
Sigmund Freud says that our human sexuality is because of our personality, it is who we are. It is our instincts to be with these kinds of people. He talks of how we are who we are because of ourselves, that we were born like this.
John Locke talks of us being a blank slate and making us different from others because of what we have been through. Blank slate or “tabula rasa” is literally blank and empty when we are born and who we are is influenced by other people and the environment around us.

Biologically men seem to become stronger than women as they grow up, however women mature faster than men. The different hormones that boys and girls have determine their different biological differences, men’s bodies are very different from women’s even at the parts that both have, it is because of our biological DNA as well as our hormones.
Socially men tend to be competitive and task-oriented, focusing mostly on work and doing the correct job. Women on the other hand tend to be nurturing and protective of others and do things out of love and care for other people. Although this is not always true for men and women, moreover it is just the majority of men and women who act in this way.

Of course as parents it is your obligation and duty to educate your kids about these kinds of things however as anyone would feel talking about sex to an 8 year old, it is very awkward. How do you get real with a child about the facts of life, it is very hard to do. However it is vital since wouldn’t you rather have this information come from you rather than their friends or other sources? Because this is what happens, kids go looking for the information parents do not supply and in the end gather wrong information about their bodies and the birds and the bees. Thus since teenagers and kids do not hear these things from their parents, they think it is wrong and bad and feel uncomfortable to talk about it with their parents or anyone.

Human sexuality is who a person is, it is their personality and their whole-being. It is a part of them that allows them to love and care for other people. To love someone enough to get into a relationship with, to love and to cherish. That is what is so sacred about sexuality, it allows us to find and feel love. It is incorporated in every human life, it is developed by each of us to understand one another and to feel love to each other. It is not simply the sexual act, but a part of our personality and soul that makes us love someone else.

It is a gift because we are created like this, God gave us this power and freedom to love and be loved and this is through our human sexuality. It helps us relate to others and use those connections to love one another. It is a gift because it touches our whole soul to give our love for another person. It is who we are, it is a fundamental aspect of us that makes us who we are and who we can be. It is not just the act of having sex, because that is not a great enough gift, it is our doing of love and connection with others as it makes who we are, our whole being, our whole self. It affects the activities we do, the clothes we wear, the names we call ourselves, our decisions, and our personality, it helps us deal with everything we do, as well as our capacity to deal with our feelings.

Genesis 2:18 says "The Lord God said: “It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him.” and how great is God for that, giving us a life partner to love and share this life with, this is how sexuality came to be, to give us a chance to find someone we love.
Matthew 19:4-5 says "Jesus replied: “At the beginning the Creator made them male and female and declared, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and cling to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This shows how as we grow up, we have the freedom to find someone to choose to live with, to be one with, to be together as one body forever.
In Genesis, it says “God created man in his image… male and female he created them” (1:27). From His marvelous plan, God willed us to be born, to grow, and to relate to others as a man or as a woman. Out of His infinite love for us, God has created the foundation of who we truly are to become—our physical traits, our emotions, our talents and abilities, ways of relating to others through our sexuality.” Our sexuality is more than just sex, it is what we are, it is our physical, mental, psychological traits, it is the foundation of ourselves, rather than just an act of physical need.
8.) How can a person grow in chastity?
To be chaste, it is basically saving yourself for the one who you will marry, the person you will love and cherish and be with forever. That you will have relations with him/her and only him/her. You must do the act of sex out of love and desire for the person not just to fulfil your sexual needs. You must be in harmony with yourself and your soul, knowing that you don’t need sex all the time to be happy. You must know that you are the master of your body, your sexual appetite and sexual desires do not control you, rather the other way around. It is being selfless by giving your body to the one that you know you will love and be with forever. It also means staying faithful and loyal to that person, not committing adultery on that person and being with that person forever.

It talks of the sexual act, it shows that there is no sincerity or care for the sexual act nowadays since it is just a medium used in the media and other platforms. It ruins the sanctity of the act and does not allow us to see the sexual act as more than just sex. It is bad that it is being commercialized and being used like this when it is actually something beautiful and something great.
10.) How will you promote or revolutionize the social media such as twitter and facebook or Instagram as regards the true and proper treatment of HUMAN SEXUALITY most especially among the youth.
I would use this platform to not spread things that promote sex being nothing more than just the act. It is not just the act, and I would like to remind people of that. I would let other people know that their sexuality is nothing to be ashamed of. Being GAY, LESBIAN, STRAIGHT, BI, PAN, ASEXUAL, is all okay, you do you because God made you that way. As well as showing that sex and sexuality isn’t something light, it is who we are. I would use videos and visuals to show how this is now something to abuse, but something to cherish.

This is the nature versus nurture debate, in which one can define nature as those behavioral traits that are due to innate characteristics, such as instincts and drives.
2. Sigmund Freud is a firm supporter of the nature argument. He believed that sexual drives are instinctive and viewed sexuality as the central source of human personality. His theory assumed that behavior was rooted in biology. He proposed that instincts are the principal motivating forces in the mental realm, and held that there are a large number of instincts but that they are reduced into two broad groups; eros, the life instinct, which covers all the self-preserving and erotic instincts and thanatos, the death instinct, which covers instincts toward aggression, self-destruction, and cruelty. John Locke, on the other hand, believed in the nurture argument, using his theory of the mind being seen as a “tabula rasa” or blank slate, the environment in which one develops drives their sexuality. He rejected the assumption that there are innate differences among people, and argued that people are shaped strongly by their social environments, especially by education. As the person develops, they discover their identity.
3. Girls seem to mature earlier than boys but men tend to be physically stronger than women. (Physical) Also, men tend to be competitive while women tend to be nurturing and protective. 4. The husband is expected to be the primary breadwinner and the wife is expected to manage the home more than the husband. But nowadays, sharing of role is necessary due to social and economic changes. However, sexuality is seldom discussed openly in the family. Some parents fail to assume their right and duty to educate their children about sexual matters. Thus, teenagers may think that sexuality is shameful, sinful, or taboo. Teenagers try to get information outside the home like peers, friends or from the media. Unfortunately, many of the things we hear from friends or media are half-truths or even distortions of the true meaning of human sexuality.

We are created according to God’s image precisely as “male and female.” It is God-given power for love and generativity that we must learn to gradually integrate ever more fully within our total selves. Our sexuality is a fundamental part of our being human. Therefore, it means so much more than the sexual act. The word “sex” does not simply refer to a specific act, or our doing, but also to our very dignity as persons, our being.
7. The biblical bases of sexuality are love and pro-creation. In Genesis 2:18, the Lord God said: “It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him.” In addition, Matthew 19:4-5, states: “At the beginning, the Creator made them male and female and declared, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and cling to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ God also said in Genesis 1: 27f, 31: God created man in His image; in the divine image He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them, saying: “Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. God looked at everything He had made and he found it very good.”
8. In order for a person to grow in chastity, he/ she must be someone who is a master of his/her sexual appetite, understands the true value of sexuality, disciplines his/her feelings and sexual drives and expresses his/her sexuality in accordance with God’s plan.
9. The song “Marvin Gaye” talks about sex. It mentioned the term “kama sutra.” The Kama Sutra is an ancient Indian Hindu text widely considered to be the standard work on human sexual behavior in Sanskrit literature. A portion of the work consists of practical advice on sexual intercourse. It appears that this song wants to promote these kind of lustful acts. However, as responsible children of God, we must understand that sex is not merely the act. Our human sexuality is a gift, therefore, we must respect it.
10. As I have said, we must be responsible children of God. This means that we must be mindful of what we post on social media. In reality, no one really cares if you were at the beach with your friends, or ate dinner with your boyfriend in a fancy restaurant. We should stop abusing the power of the internet. Many teens use it in a wrong way; they watch pornography, engage in sexting, and more. We have the freedom to do anything we want in social media, but we will be held liable/accountable for the things we do here. Use it wisely. I think that preaching or proclaiming the good news in social media platforms is a good idea. Instead of people posting statuses/tweeting about their love life or the latest gadgets released, we can post about bible verses or the gospel for that day. Through this, we are showing other people that we are proud of our God and that we are living a life committed to Him.

-The nature theory is what we are born to be, either male or female as we are born with the corresponding part respective to each gender. It is all developed as we are born with these "instincts." Meanwhile the nurture theory is what we are raised to be that our environment dictates and influence our choices and actions.
2.) Discuss Sigmund Freud and John Locke's contention of nature vs nurture.
-Sigmund Freud's nature theory states that we are shaped by our biological nature and our behavior originates from her. There are also instincts formed and in two groups specifically, Eros (life-instinct) and Thanatos (death-instinct). While John Locke's nurture disagrees as each child is a "tabula rasa" or blank slate in which the environment and education shapes the child to act the way he or she is raised into. Their environment in which they are raised in helps them discover their identity.

-From a biological standpoint men and women are differentiated by their sexual organs which develop during birth and through puberty. In social differences they are often differentiated by the way they dress, look and act.

-It is seldom discussed because of our culture, we are often not comfortable talking about sexuality. It is only due to talk about when there is a situation presented in which sexuality is needed to be discussed.

-It is viewed as essential dimension to a person, as it touches all aspects of a person. This is when he or she enters a relationship with another, because the "sexuality" described in the Christian view is more of like a feeling not a sexual act. This touches all aspects of a person as relationships tend to change people as they experience the presence and emotion of one another. It is also everything which makes a person a male or a female.

-Human sexuality was given by God for us to show our love and generatively, as God's life is full of love and creativeness. It is also for us to gradually integrated wi our more whole selves. However this is not to be confused with the sexual act, it is merely the love each person shares to one another.

-In the book of Genesis man and women were created to pro-create and "be fertile and multiply." From this plan of God it becomes our foundation to which we become and we relate to one another using our sexuality. We relate to each other as male or female through our physical traits, emotions, talents and abilities.

-For a person to grow in chastity, he or she would need to learn what is true essence of what sexuality truly is. Sexuality these days are often described and depicted in a wrong way. When a person learns this at an early age he or she would be able to apply it as he or she grows up, growing in a life of chastity.

-I was surprised as I only get to hear the song "Let's Marvin Gaye and Get it on" without knowing the true meaning of the lyrics and the content of the music video as it was discussed in CL. It was surprising to know that even in simple songs that no one really takes much time to process and truly understand that it would be used to transmit messages about popularizing sexual acts and sexual feelings.
10.) How will you promote or revolutionize the social media such as twitter and facebook or Instagram as regards the true and proper treatment of HUMAN SEXUALITY most especially among the youth.
-To promote or revolutionize the social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, there should be a a campaign in which it urges users to take action and take part of informing everyone on what sexuality truly is. I would promote the true and proper treatment of human sexuality by showing others that I support the belief in the correct and true virtues of which human sexuality stand for. Not for the depicted and wrongly shown meaning of human sexuality in today's situation.

-The nature theory states that, we are what we are born to be. So if you're born a male, you should be everything a male does, nothing different. Whereas the nurture theory says that, its ones environment when they grow up that defines one person in becoming the person that they are.

-Sigmund Freud was firm with his believe with the nature theory. He believes that our biological nature and features is what makes us who we are. While John Locke believed in the nurture theory, where in its ones environment and how they were raised as people that makes them who they are.

-Biological is based on the physical differences a man and woman have, such as organs. While social differences is the differences in behaviour, preferences, etc. How they live their daily lives as people.

ReplyDelete8. In order to grow in chastity, one must understand the true meaning of sexuality so he/she will understand how sacred the human body actually is. Next, he/she must control his/her sexual desires to prevent doing any action that lead him/her further from chastity. Lastly, he/she must nurture his/her relationships and avoid prejudice against others to be able to love without selfishness.
9. Upon hearing Marvin Gaye, I realized that the topic of sexuality and sex are talked about more openly today than it was before. This shows that the seriousness and the true meaning of human sexuality is slowly disappearing in our society. It has come to the point where a part of society understands human sexuality as just the sexual act.
10. I will express the proper treatment of human sexuality through some form of media such as videos, pictures, or even stories. The youth would definitely not read a paragraph or some random of post about the topic because they have not found importance yet. These theories are ways to understand human sexuality. It was believed by American Psychological Association that homosexuality is a mental disorder. The main concept for this theory is to also determine the reasons behind one's homosexuality.

Sigmund Freud's theory states that human's sexuality is the center of one's personality. He also believed that one's genes and roots also affect a person's human sexuality. As for John Locke, he believes that our surroundings and people around us influence our sexuality. Our identity is formed by the environment that influences us.

Women mature earlier than men according to science studies but men tend to be more competitive and stronger than the women. Women are the ones who manage the house while the men are the breadwinners of the household.

In my point of view, sexuality is rarely discussed openly not only in the family but also with others because this is one awkward topic especially with the younger ones. We were never oriented properly about sexuality by the family but I believe that we should because if we were oriented about this said topic then we'd avoid learning it by ourselves which may result to something else.

God was the one who created sexuality core to the human experience. Christianity remains among the most “sex-positive” religions. Being attracted to the same sex isn't a sin unless they attempt to get pleasure out of it.

Chastity is basically defined as a way for us to be able to control ourselves from sexual activities before marriage. We must have the knowledge and understand how sex is defined in the bible and by God. People see sex as a way to pleasure one's self but in the bible, that's not how it is. This act is sacred and a way to reproduce and is only allowed once married and having this knowledge, one can grow in chastity.

This song was very catchy and surely a lot of people pretty much knows the song and who sang it. But once you read through the lines, you'll be able to understand that this song is actually about human sexuality and is basically talking about doing the deed before marriage which is against God. Nowadays, people wouldn't care and just produce this song for the whole world to hear because of the money and fame they'll earn and gain out of it.

• The Nature vs. Nurture theory, in view of understanding human sexuality, states that interest in human sexuality typically increases when one reaches puberty. In relation to the Nature vs. Nurture Theory, some researchers believe that sexual behavior is determined by genetics, while others believe that this is molded by the environment.

• Sigmund Freud and John Locke have different contentions and beliefs of the Nature vs. Nurture Theory. Sigmund Freud believes that sexual drives are instinctive and that sexuality is the central source of human personality, which is the "nature argument". John Locke, on the other hand, believes that using his theory of the mind being seen as a "tabula rasa" or blank state, the environment in which one develops drives their sexuality, which is the "nurture argument".

• Men and women have various biological and social differences. Physically, girls seem to mature earlier than boys; while men tend to be physically stronger than women. In a nutshell, while most women tend to do things out of genuine love and concern for people, men are generally more task oriented.

• Sexuality is seldom discussed in the family because first, parents do not have the time to attend to their child or children's matters and second, some parents fail to assume their right and duty to educate their children about sexual matters because they may find talking about these matters as "awkward". • Human Sexuality is a gift because we are created according to God's image as "male and female". It is not only solitude but rather in relating to others through our sexual natures that we share in God’s life of love and creativity.
7. Discuss the Biblical basis of sexuality.
• Human Sexuality is deeply rooted in the Bible, as evidenced by various Biblical passages and verses. For example, in Genesis 2:18, the Lord God said "It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him." Other verses, such as Matthew 19:4-5 and Genesis 1:27f, 31 shows evidence of Human Sexuality being deeply rooted in the Bible.
8. How can a person grow in chastity?
• By definition, "chastity" means being "pure", "not having any sexual relations before marriage" and "fidelity to husband or wife during marriage". For a person to grow in chastity, he must moderate his sexual desire, and make sure that reason, will and desire will work harmoniously together to do what is good. He must understand what sexuality truly means in the Words of God.

• The song "Marvin Gaye" means "Let's have sex" when explained in the context of the LGBT Community. The said song is a depiction of Human Sexuality, albeit in a twisted way. Although the tune and beat of the song is catchy and creative, it depicts Human Sexuality simply as the act of having sex, between two (or more) people with the same or different gender, which is not true. Since this is commercialized music, I am truly and deeply worried about the people hearing and listening to it. They must first know what the true meaning of sexuality is. They must understand that Human Sexuality is not simply the act of having sex, but a complicated subject that must not be taken for granted.
10. How will you promote or revolutionize the social media such as Twitter, Facebook or Instagram as regards the true and proper treatment of HUMAN SEXUALITY most especially among the youth?
• In order for me to truly promote the true meaning and essence of Human Sexuality through various social media among the youth, I will respect their views and opinions. I will tell them in a respectful way what the true meaning of Human Sexuality is in the context of Christianity and the Word of God through private message (PM) or posting/sharing links and messages. Since social media is a powerful tool to disseminate information, it is sure that the true message and essence of Human Sexuality will be seen and read by many people.

Human sexuality can be viewed from two points, either nature or nurtured. If we were to understand human sexuality as nature, it means we were born with it, and outside phenomena have nothing to do with your sexuality. This can also mean God gave you your sexuality which means that he made you to be a boy, girl, gay, lesbian or etc...
Nuture on the other hand means that your sexuality was adapted from those around you, the things the occur in your area, and the people you are friends with.
2.) Discuss Sigmund Freud and John Locke's contention of nature vs nurture.
Simund Freud is more on the nature side, because he believes that we are born with our gender, meaning nothing outside has anything to do with our sexuality.
John Locke's on the other hand believes that all of us are born as blank slates "tabula rasa" , or in my terms, a blank cd, who is able to be influenced by those around them which results in them to have a different sexuality than intended.
3.) Discuss the biological and social differences between a man and a woman.
Biologically speaking, men are more prone to having deeper voices, more muscle mass, taller height and are usually heavier than a woman. Women on the other hand experience maturity of their bodies earlier in life usually starting at young teenage years or even pre teen years while males can develop it as late as up to 16 years old.
Socially, men are more competitive and focused on what they put their mind to. They may show no mercy to people who are a hindrance to them thus resultign in some violent impulses. Women on the other hand are more caring and understanding most of the time and are more creative in most cases.

Sexuality is seldom discussed among family because it gives an awkward situation among family member, because of the fact that they may reject you for who you really are and might punish you for it. On the act of sex, it is very awkward also because the child might not even know what it is in the first place, and might be even more prone to partake in the act rather than to avoid it.

Sexuality is the human itself with the personality, and mind. Their sexuality is what allows them to feel emotion and how to respond to whatever happens to them.

Human sexuality is a gift because it came from God. God gave us our sexuality because he knows what is best for us. It allows us to interact with people, and love people. Not only limited to sex, but sex is part of human sexuality, which allows a man and a woman to create a child, which is God's gift to both the parents as well. This is why human sexuality is a gift to us. In summary, it is us as a whole, without Human Sexuality, we are an empty being, not capable of doing anything.

The Biblical basis of sexuality are love and pro-creation.
Genesis 2:18 says "The Lord God said: “It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him.” which shows that God made man and woman in order for them to find a partner that they truly love and are ready to be with for the rest of their lives. Genesis 1: 27f, 31: God created man in His image; in the divine image He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them, saying: “Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. God looked at everything He had made and he found it very good.” which shows that God had always planned from the beginning our sexuality and has a mission assigned to every single one of us, which involves the use of our sexuality.

The song Marvin Gaye, relates to Human Sexuality as it objectifies the image of human sexuality portraying it as something you can simply throw away. The term Kama Sutra was notably used in the song even though it is a sacred act of Indian people, which has just been used to objectify human sexuality. The song promotes sex and shows it off as something that is simple and holds no limits, which is why the song is very controversial.

I will promote/revolutionize the proper treatment of Human Sexuality on Facebook and Instagram by reminding people, in real life and on Facebook that they should not post any photo/video or comment which are all about promoting sex as an act that can be freely done. I will remind them also that they do not need to hide who they truly are when it comes to their choice of sexuality, be it gay, or lesbian (who are just newly accepted into society as a norm) especially in today's world where everyone is quick to judge. I will also start a campaign on Facebook/Instagram using (appropriate) photos which show the negatives of disrespecting human sexuality. This will hopefully open the eyes of those who see them.

ReplyDelete8.) For a person to grow in chastity, they must understand their sexuality, and respect their own and other's bodies. They must also avoid giving in to their temptations. Human sexuality is God's gift and we must follow what God has planned for us, and that is that sexual intimacy is only limited to those in marriage.
9.) The song title itself is a term the lgbt community has coined. It means "to have sex". This song can relate to our topic in many ways because the meaning of the song is wanting to be intimate with one another. I think for me, it shows how we should appreciate our sexuality because it is God's gift to us. We shouldn't waste ourselves and give in to temptation. A lot of songs nowadays have suggestive meanings, which can influence our generation to think that sexuality isn't a big deal.
10.) I would post the church's meaning of human sexuality. It would remind people, or inform those who do not know, that sexuality should not be taken lightly and should be respected by all. Because it is social media, not everyone would agree since we all have different opinions, but it would be nice to just show the true meaning of human sexuality.

2. Sigmund Freud was a supporter of the nature argument regarding human sexuality, and also had a theory that said that human behaviors were rooted by our biology, and that we were primary motivated by instinct.
He also categorized our instincts into Eros (life instinct) and Thanatos (death instinct).
John Locke on the other hand, disagreed with the idea that we had innate differences, and instead stated that we were shaped by the social environment we were raised in, especially our education.
He also believed that an accurate idea of a child's mind would be a "tabula rasa" or blank slate, meaning whatever goes into the mind comes from the environment.
3. Biologically, you have the genitalia, the secondary sexual characteristics. and how different certain parts of our body develop as time passes. (Ex the voice, breasts, limbs and so on.)
Socially, men and women generally have different reactions to situations and of course, differ in how their minds work as well.
4. Generally, discussing sexuality (or anything sexual really) is rather awkward to talk about with family.
Or it's simply taboo.
5. For Christians, sexuality is but a part (a significant one, but still only a piece) of a whole person.
Said part being the point in one's life where they enter a relationship with another person.
6. Basically, sexuality is a gift since it is a gift from God that allows us to act intimate with another person.
7. The Bible discusses sexuality through the two genders, of male and female.
And there are also parts of the Bible that discuss homosexuality, however, it should be noted that it does not specifically condemn all homosexuals, rather it condemns the ones that engage in the act of sex between homosexuals.
8. For a person to grow in chastity, they would need to not give in to their sexual urges, resist temptation and understand what sexuality actually means.
9. A proper reaction to the video from me, would be fair amounts of laughter at how over the top the "sex" was through out the video.
And in relation to our topic, I can definitely say that this song is simply a product of a generation where "sex sells" and sex is treated with (more or less) indifferences.
Which is hardly a good thing, morally or in regards to religion.
10. With the internet being the way it is (people not really paying much attention to religion related posts, or simply dismissing you as a "religious nut head" if you get too preachy online), I think taking small steps would be the best way to spread the church's meaning of sexuality.
No need to make post after post of religion and sexuality, just one every once in a while should work good enough.

By general definition, nature refers to to an inborn trait – something that could be explained by biology; it is assumed that we are born with a certain sexuality. Nurture, on the other hand, refers to the how we were raised and the external factors that could’ve contributed to the sexuality that we embody.

According to Sigmund Freud, human behaviour was rooted in biology. Likewise, he believed that instincts are the primary reason on how we think and act. There are two groups that divide these instincts: Eros and Thanatos. Eros, the life instinct, is the instinct responsible for sexual drive whereas Thanatos, the death instinct, is the one responsible for extreme emotions such as aggression, self-destruction and cruelty.
John Locke had the opposite perspective – according to him, people are shaped strongly by their social environments, particularly by education. He considers the human mind as a blank slate that would eventually be filled through constant interaction with our surroundings.

It's basically God's way of putting you together as you enter into the world. Nurture though speaks to show that our sexual ways are based on how we grow which goes to show that the places where we are and our surroundings form our sexuality.

Sigmund Freud basically bases our human sexuality based on personality and based it on the fact that our behavior is the root. On the other hand John Locke believes we are shaped by our surroundings, or in the idea of nurture. The biblical basis of sexuality can be seen in 2 perspectives, for love and pro-creation.
For love we can see this in Matthew 19:4-5 and Genesis 2:18, what we see is that God didn't want man to be alone so He created the "suitable partner" for him which is now the woman. In these excerpts, we also see that He created them from one flesh so that they may unite and be one when the time comes that they go together.

For procreation, we can see this in Genisis 1:27f,31 where it is discussed that as God created us, He also wants us to multiply and fill the Earth. We are created in His own divine likeness in which we must live up to it and continue passing it on by multiplying.

7.) Sexuality has long been a topic of discussion and concern in the bible with accounts from the book of Genesis such as one passage where God says that “it is not good that man will be alone. I will make him a suitable partner,” thus, hinting to the opening of sexuality in the bible and its other passages.
8.) A person grows in chastity when he or she controls his or herself against temptations on sexuality and the like. By doing so he or she must keep a life of purity by not having any sexual relations before marriage and that his or her will and desire must work together in harmony to better understand God’s take on sexuality.
9.) The song does not blatantly talk of the topic of sexuality right then and there but rather the message and theme of it is shown subtly through the lyrics of the song. It talks of having the act of sex to one or two more people, regardless of gender. This song may possibly be talking of the LGBT community as well as the heterosexual community and acts as if sexual actions are a mere talk to pass time and is not to be considered as “totally awkward” as its catchy beat and lyrics draw a provocative feeling to listeners to try on sex. Although it is inevitable to abolish songs from producing such messages, it is important to take note that these are simply the works of artists in the industry of music and SHOULD NOT always be taken literally.

Sigmund Freud believed in nature, he believes that are sexual drives are rooted from biology, from our parents. While, John Locke believed in nurture in which people are shaped from the environments, and their interaction with their surroundings.

Women tend to be more mature and protective, however men tend to be much more physical. Men are much stronger than women and are more competitive.

The song Marvin Gaye screams the word sex. The people in the music video did not practice chastity for they have committed the act of Sex before getting married. A lot of people like this song because of its catchy lyrics and melody, but they don't know the true meaning of human sexuality.

I can promote the true meaning of Human Sexuality using social media by simply educating them of what Human Sexuality is. Since the music industry is now very popular we should show them the music video of Marvin Gaye, and tell them that this is not directly Human Sexuality. Human Sexuality is the relationship that you make when you bond with your loved ones.

-Nuture according to Lock is a “blank slate,” Nurture attributes our development to environmental forces. -In my opinion, I think that the song is very straight forward and simply talks about sex. Obviously you can already tell once you listen to it. However I think it offends human sexuality in a way because they don't take it and mean it as a gift in the song.

There is a significant difference between nature and nurture. Nature is perceived as a characteristic one is born with. It is the human instinct of one’s preference. On the other hand, nurture is the development of one’s sexuality based on experience, beliefs, or by the influence of others.

In the eyes of Freud, he depicts that a person’s human sexuality is based on their own natural being. It is based on how a person acts or their behavior towards certain beliefs. Locke believes that human sexuality is embodied based on how a person is influenced by nurture, wherein he/she is shaped through experience and the behavioral tendencies of others.

BIOLOGICAL: Men are commonly described to be more physically fit than women, normally perceived as the worker/provider for his family. Women are often depicted as the foundation for a happy home for they are the manager of one’s home life.
SOCIAL: Whilst men are opened to more opportunities, women are not. Society shows that men are given more job opportunities than women. In addition, women are expected to manage home life while men are to provide for the family by working. Based on social skills, it is a common belief that women mature much faster than men, and are often sociable towards those around them.

In my opinion, sexuality is seldom discussed openly by the family because of fear of misunderstanding. In Christian beliefs, sexuality is viewed as gift from God, for it is the fundamental being of a person to start certain relationships with others. Nowadays, society often believes that the Church is against homosexual relationship when it has been known that they have accepted that there are different kinds of love. However, it is the act that is condemned for it is seen as anti-life.

Human sexuality is a gift because it is the opportunity to procreate and give life. It is the blessing given to us in order to show love and compassion towards the ones we love the most.

Songs like Marvin Gaye is a way to provoke or tell people that it is okay to practice premarital sex.

Social media is a source of entertainment young adults turn to nowadays. It is a way of expressing themselves and their beliefs. Through this, people have more access to those who practice sexual activities despite age and relationship status. Human Sexuality in my view is us people limiting ourselves from having all of these acts of sexuality. The Nature debate in view of human sexuality is based on biology. It is mostly influenced by our instincts. Whereas the Nuture debate in view of human sexuality says that this act is brought into us by the outside forces that we encounter everday.

Sigmund Freud's contention says that he believed that sexual drives are "instinctive and viewed sexuality as the central source of human personality". John Lock's contention says that his contention is being viewed as a "tabula rasa" or blank state in where someone develops their own sexuality.

Physical: Women mature in an earlier stage than boys.
Spiritual: Men get more competitive than women but women become more protective.

1.) Discuss nature vs nurture theory in view of understanding human sexuality.
The nature VS nurture theory is exactly as it means. It is the social debate on where and how our human sexuality begins and develops. People argue that human sexuality is an inborn trait, where it is completely dependent on our X and Y chromosomes. If a person has an excess X or Y chromosome, it is said that his/her sexual orientation is that of homosexuality. This is the "nature" theory of human sexuality. Opposite of that is the "nurture" theory. This is where people oppose the idea of human sexuality being an "inborn" trait and say that it is developed through a person's experiences and social environment.
2.) Discuss Sigmund Freud and John Locke's contention of nature vs nurture.
Freud proclaimed that human sexuality is based purely on a persons INSTINCT, not by the "nurturing" theory. He said that a person's sexuality comes from his/her "Eros" instinct, or his instinct of life. So, reproduction or a person's need for sexual pleasure is based on this instinct and thus, human sexuality is born. On the other hand, Locke stated that a person's sexuality, or his/her personality as a WHOLE, is based on the environment that person has been exposed to. That, like a blank canvas (tabula rasa), a person's wellbeing is molded by his/her surroundings.

The biological differences between the two genders is that, one, the sexual organs of a man and woman are different. Two, a woman generally develops menstruation as she gets older, and will soon develop her mammary glands as well (breasts). In contrast, the social differences of the two may vary depending on the personality of a person. However, it is stereotyped that a man is more competitive while a woman is more caring. Although, this is not to say that a man can't be caring and a woman competitive; it really depends on the person.

In some cases, it is because the child is afraid to talk about his/her sexuality in fear of being rejected/disowned/beaten by the parents. Other times, it is because this topic is neglected or never openly discussed.

It is what gives us our identity. We, humans, are created in God's likelihood, and human sexuality gives us the opportunity to share our love with others like how God loves us.

It is stated multiple times in the Bible that, when man was created in God's likeness, God created an equal opposite—women—to roam the earth alongside him. They were commanded by the Lord to make the earth fertile and subdue the earth. There are no other sexuality mentioned except for a man and a woman, male and female.

One must be in full control of his/her body — mind over body. As humans, we must fully understand the concepts and consequences when it comes to sexual intercourse, as well as our OWN lustful desires. Once we fully understand how we, OURSELVES, work, we would have the ability to prevent and/or control ourselves from lustful exploitations. We have to respect our bodies, for as we were taught, our bodies is a sacred temple. We must spread this kind of teaching to others, most especially to the youth (thank goodness for chastity talks!).

For me, it's as if we are neglecting the whole sacredness of sex. Not to say that sex is something that should be glorified, it's more like a practice of fidelity to a loved one. The song is treating sex as if it is what keeps a person together. It showcases infidelity, lust, cheating — just overall sexual desire over one's BODY. It shows a person's eagerness to take one's virginity, and that it is OKAY to do such a thing without being married. It's actually shown throughout the song, but here's an example:

I'd share any information that I believe would help spread the word about human sexuality! Since social media is such a broad tool to share information, it'd be easy to administrate pages and/or start a hashtag to keep track of the info we share! We just need people to follow, and the word will spread.

In the view of understanding human sexuality; nature is more on the sexual drives or interest of humans, including their behavior that influences it as well. Nurture is more of how this is influenced by the factors of the outside world – specifically the environment we surrounded by.
2.) Discuss Sigmund Freud and John Locke's contention of nature vs nurture.
Sigmund Freud believed about how sexual drives are instinctive and he viewed sexuality as the central source of human personality. The instincts serve as "principal motivating forces in the mental health". There is a reduction of these instincts into two broad groups - the Eros which is the life instinct that covers all the self-preserving and erotic instincts + the Thanatos (the death instinct), the one that covers towards aggression, self-destruction, and cruelty. For John Locke; he believed in the nurture argument with the use of his own theory of the mind (tabula rasa meaning blank slate); environment where one develops drives their sexuality. Another is that he has the argument of how "people are shaped strongly by their social environments".

For the biological difference between men and women – women mature earlier than men, although the men have the tendency to be physically stronger than women. For the social difference, it has been said that the men can be more competitive while women are more protective and nurturing.

The kind of perception it shows is the meaning of sex in the literal manner and shows only a shallow understanding of human sexuality.

I would give people as heads up about my opinions and let others listen to one another about what we all think as individuals to clarify and clear the air. I would say that sexuality is something you shouldn’t be ashamed. Now with the youth, I would do that with regards to them because yes, it is better to know about it than knowing it later on. - This basically talks about the origins of a person's sexual attraction. We have two different theories about it, either it comes naturally (nature) or it develops (nurture).

Human sexuality is defined as someone being sexually attracted to another depending on their sexual orientation, if you look at the song once again, it doesn't really show how people are sexually attracted to one another but instead how they are invested into having intercourse instead. It discusses the interaction but not the attraction.

Even if it seemed like just another simple song, it is considered rude or disrespectful to others It mentioned the term “kama sutra.” The Kama Sutra is an ancient Indian Hindu text widely considered to be the standard work on human sexual behavior in Sanskrit literature and it was treated without respect in the song. A portion of the work consists of practical advice on sexual intercourse. It appears that this song wants to promote these kind of lustful acts. However, we must understand that sex is juts the act. 10. One basic way to encourage people to accept sexuality is to just respect them. You do not have to become part of the LGBTQ+ community, you do not have to constantly understand them, you have to accept their thoughts and ideals because that would mean that they matter! It would give the message that they are human, and they too should be respected. Because by respecting their thoughts and ideals, you recognize them and show that they truly are accepted. You don't have to agree with their labels, but the fact is if you refer to them using their correct label, you help them feel like they belong. That they are truly accepted for what they are and that what they are is a beautiful human being.

ReplyDelete1. The nature theory is that our sexuality has been planted into us the moment we were conceived. This means that we are somehow programmed to behave how we behave and that our sexuality and other characteristics are given to us through genetics. On the other hand, the nurture theory is that we learn from our environment and through the people around us and that is how we develop our own personality and our sexuality.
2. John Locke's nurture theory is that each child is similar to a "tabula rasa" or a blank slate. This means that a child could be shaped and molded by his/her environment and the people around the child. Sigmund Freud's nature theory on the other hand is the opposite of Locke's because it states that a child's personality and sexually has already been decided through genetics and the child's roots.
3. Women are thought to mature earlier than men and that is why as children women are sometimes taller than the men but as time goes on the men grow taller than the women. They evidently also have different reproductive body parts. Men are said to be stronger than women and women are said to be the managers of the household while men are the breadwinners of the household.
4. Sexuality is barely discussed in the family because of insecurity. Sometimes the child might be afraid to come out of the closet in fear of the parents' reactions towards this. People dont really discuss this topic unless it is brought up or if they feel they really need to talk about it.

It's what gives life to our vessels that is the body. The song, much like most things that talk of sex, is mainly centered around the act itself, not the Christian view of sex.

ReplyDelete1.) Both of these theories are speculations of how human sexuality is brought upon into a person. In the nature theory, I believe that it states that people are naturally born with their sexuality, preference in partners, and are all done on instinct. For the nurture theory though, from the word, a persons sexuality is 'nurtured' by outside sources.
2.) These two theorist were on opposing sides when it comes to human sexuality, nature theory vs. nurture theory respectively. Freud had believed that a humans sexual drive are made purely through instinct, that it was their body demanding for something thought essential. As for Locke: he thought of human sexuality, of the mind of the person, as something that can be easily influenced in acting a certain way. He saw it as a "tabula rasa" which can be drawn upon by the opinions of the people surrounding the person.

Biological Differences: Women are seen to be more mature or mature faster compared to men. This can also be seen as the reason for the females to be more nurturing and caring compared to the competitiveness of men.
Social Differences: Before the equality in terms of job distribution, iron laws were given to both genders. It was a demand that the husband of the family will be the one working and being the staple of income, while the wife stays at home and takes care of the children.
4.) This usually happens because the parents do not assume responsibility in teaching their children about sexuality. This problems was caused as well because the generation before them did not educate them enough about their own sexuality. With no physical source of knowledge from their maternal providers, they turn to other sources such as friends and social media. This proves to be ineffective because they only give out half-truths or misconceptions about a persons sexuality and warps the teenagers view on it.

God has given us sexuality because it has become one of the many ways of expressing love for humanity. With sexuality, we make our decisions: we talk how we want to talk, we act how we want to act, and we become what we want to become. Our sexuality gives us confidence in standing by what we are, that we are people who have a right to live.
7.) Sexuality was defined through God's first human creations. God created a man and woman who he said were to go be fertile and multiply. From the book of Genesis, it can be seen that first signs of sexuality can be seen through the relationship of Adam and Eve. They had seen themselves as partners and decided to spend their lives with each other and produce children.
8.) By controlling and denying all sexual desires that we may encounter, as well as always staying faithful to our partner if we choose to get married. From the many rules in the Bible, it has stated that remaining chaste will give us a sense of freedom. Instead of the rules shackling us, they actually set us free from the burdens of ever giving in to lust. As Christians and as people, it helps us become better, helps us become role models that help others become chaste in the eyes of the Lord.
9.) If I had not studied of human sexuality in Christian Living, I would have seen the video as a depiction of it. I know now that the depiction in the video and song are completely wrong. They have shown us a warped view of sexuality, that it is all about the pleasure of a person and a persons preference in partners. This is all completely wrong. They did not show that sexuality is what defines a person. They did not show that sexuality was given to us by God that shows our uniqueness and individuality as one of His children.
10.) I create a poster which will really hit what the youth find in themselves as insecurity, of how the media is giving us the wrong message. I think this will be effective because our generation is easily captivated by illustrations and colors, and when they see the contents, they will surely receive an impact. The Nature vs. Nurture theory states that one's interest in human sexuality generally increases when one reaches puberty. This begins one's exploration and experimentation of their own sexual orientation. Simply put, innate characteristics and sexual orientation (nature) can be changed in due time from one's environment and culture (nurture).

Sigmund Freud and John Locke have different views and beliefs of the Nature vs. Nurture Theory. Sigmund Freud believes that sexual drives are instinctive and that one's sexuality is the primary source of one's personality, which is the "nature argument". On the other hand, John Locke, believes that using his theory is seen as a "tabula rasa" or blank state, in which one's environment is what develops their sexuality.

Girls, physically, seem to mature earlier than boys; while men tend to be physically stronger than women due to the presence of testosterone hormones. Human Sexuality is a gift because we are created according to God's image as "male and female". It enabes us to build relationships with others and share as one communion, God's love for us.

Evidence strongly indicates Biblical passages and verses that show human sexuality. For example, in Genesis 2:18, the Lord God said "It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him." Other verses, such as Matthew 19:4-5 and Genesis 1:27-31.

By definition, "chastity" means being "pure", "not having any sexual relations before marriage" and "fidelity to husband or wife during marriage". For a person to grow in chastity, he must moderate his sexual desire and his intentions are in line with the commandments.

Marvin Gaye is a depiction of Human Sexuality but in a double meaning way. Although the song is catchy and creative, it depicts Human Sexuality simply as the act of having sex, between two (or more) people with the same or different gender, which is not true. Since this is commercialized music, I am truly and deeply worried about the people hearing and listening to it. They must understand that Human Sexuality is not simply the act of having sex, but a big responsibility that must not be taken lightly.

Freud believed that one’s behaviour is taken from birth; that the primary instincts to drive one to act are Eros and Thantos. Locke believed that people are influenced by their surroundings and by what they are taught.

Biologically, men and women differ due to women having the ability to bear and conceive children. Socially men and women differ based on the society we live in, people tend to see women as weaker, and assume that men are stronger and should take responsibility, though this isn’t true in all situations.

This is typically depicted as a heavy topic, most people tend to assume sexuality and the act of being sexual as the same thing. When I first heard the song, I didn’t know it was about sexual activity. However, as I listened to song more, I then realised the song was about having sexual intercourse for fun. It is a gift to us because God granted our ability to procreate. It’s not only a process for recreation, but procreation as well! We get to expand His family & bear children.

Since Adam & Eve were the first humans ever made, God gifted sex to them because they were the first male and female. This was for them to procreate and expand his family. However, sexual relations like this is only morally right for who are already married, given it is a gift given by God which we should not disrespect. Sadly, most of our generation have tainted the pure, Christian meaning of sex.

To grow in chastity, we must understand the definition of sex in the words of God. The "Nature Theory" of Sigmund Freud states that sexuality was already a part of us ever since we were born, and sexuality is the center of every human's personality. On the other hand, John Locke's "Nurture Theory" revolves around the premise that the mind is a "tabula rasa" or "blank slate" wherein it becomes influenced by the events occurring around him/her, and these events are what influence a person's sexuality.

In Sigmund Freud's theory, there are two instincts that we were born with, Eros (The Life Instinct) and Thanatos (The Death Instinct). Eros covers all things self-preserving and erotic while Thanatos covers aggression, self-destruction, and cruelty. In John Locke's theory, he argues that people are shaped by their environments especially via education. As the person develops, they discover their true identity.

To be honest, I am gravely disappointed when I learned that the song is promoting "Kama Sutra." A person can grow in chastity by not having any sexual activities before marriage. They should fully understand the consequences sexual activities may lead to and they must have discipline in order for them to stop temptations of having sex before marriage.

The song Marvin Gaye brings/ has a strong influence on sexuality in the wrong manner. The video showed a lot of sexual activities that should only be done when married, it shows the totally opposite of chastity as well. Because of this song a lot of people have misinterpreted the true meaning of human sexuality.

I can promote the true meaning of Human Sexuality through the use of social media by simply helping others understand what it really means. Since social media is being used by a lot of people especially the youth, I will teach them that sexuality is sacred and something that should be taken seriously and understood properly.

Sigmund Freud defined nature as sexual behavior or behavioral traits that is determined by genetics or characteristics that we were born with Meanwhile, John Locke believed that “people are shaped strongly by their social environment;” he defined nurture as the sexual behavior that is modelled or formed by our surroundings/community.

Sigmund Freud’s theory described that behavior was rooted in our genes or biology. He assumed that sexuality is the central source of human personality, as well as the instincts Eros (life instinct) and Thanatos (death instinct) are the main motivators in sexual drives. On the other hand, John Locke rejected the idea that there are innate differences among people and suggested that one’s characteristics are defined and shaped by their social environments. Children become curious and get information from other unreliable sources, believing in half-truths or distortions of the true meaning of human sexuality.

Nature refers to the idea that one's behavior, traits and sexual preference is already decided at birth and that it's fixed on a person. Nurture theory suggests that traits, behavior and sexual desires are learnt from other people, role models and society. One theory suggests that sexual orientation is natural, while the other implies, it is a choice.

Freud is for Nature Theory, wherein everyone's sexual orientation is fixed from birth. This means to say that one's sexual drive is instinctive and natural. Locke, however supported the Nurture theory, stating that differences in traits between men and women in terms of behavior and sexual orientation is learnt from society including role models, and people around you.

The sexual behavior based on the environment focuses on the development of the personality or identity of a person in a given situation while the sexual behavior based on genetics focuses on the instinct of a person.

Sigmund Freud and John Locke were on opposing sides in the nature vs nurture debate. Sigmund Freud theorized that sexual behavior is based on one's genetics and believes that instincts are the principal motivating forces in the mental realm. - Within the context on Christian beliefs, sexual behaviour can be disputed to either be of innate/inherited trait that an individual is born with through genetics or a trait that is attained through one’s social environment in experiences.

- Freud supports the ideology behind the theory that sexuality is a central source of an individual’s personality. Moreover, he states that sex drives are justified through biology to instinctive and takes shape in two forms – Eros and Thanatos (Life/Death Instincts). On the other hand, Locke believes that people are shaped by their social environments and that we are all results of social influences that include sexuality.

- Men and women hold differences in their bodily designs, sexual organs, and build as a result of the different sex chromosomes received. - Simply because of the beatitude behind sexuality, most especially the fact that it is made and done through love. Everything in our lives are gifts from God, most especially our sexuality. We being children of God are given through our sexuality the opportunity to share our love with others as God does with his love with us.

- It is written that we humans were meant for two things. Firstly, to roam this world to care for and protect God’s wonderful creations and the other is that we are meant to bear the fruit of life (i.e. reproduce).

- First, one must gain the proper understanding of sexuality through being properly educated be it by an institution or even at home. Through this, one can learn to gain control over themselves and their desires. Our sexuality, like any precious gift, must be taken care of and treated with the utmost respect. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and must be kept clean of any filth such as lustful abuse – be it us committing the abuse, or being abused ourselves, only through proper understanding and enlightenment can this be prevented.

According to Sigmund Freud, he believes that sexual drives are instinctive, thus, comes naturally to a human being. He views secuality as the central source of human personality. On the other hand, John Locke believed that the environment directly influences a person and develops their sexuality. He was a firm supporter in the nurture argument.

The Nature vs Nurture theory regarding human sexuality pertains to the two opposing beliefs of how one realizes their sexual identity/preference. It is stated that some believe that genetics are behind one’s sexuality, whereas others believe that one’s preference would depend on how he/she has been influenced/taught while growing up.

Meanwhile, Freud is a believer of the Nature aspect, which states that one is born with their assigned sexual identity and that this is a vital portion of one’s personality.

Biologically, it is believed that boys are slower to mature, compared to girls. Socially, girls are viewed as protective, caring and emotional, whereas men are viewed as the stricter, less emotional and more task oriented.

A deeper understanding of the song’s lyrics has led me to believe that sex has been normalized in the music industry. The song has shown having sex as something to be celebrated, rather as something sacred.

I would share on any social media platform how human sexuality indeed is a gift given to us by God. And how this should be treated as something sacred, not taken for granted. I would share my opinion and knowledge on human sexuality. But before anything else, I would change my self for the better to be able to set an example for others.
1) For me, human sexuality is the capacity of a person to go through erotic experiences. A person's sexuality can influence their sexual interest and their affection for another. As we can alliterate, it is just part of our nature—our instincts controls our belief and actions towards this topic. Nurture states that our sexuality is influenced by outside forces.

It is saddening that the fact that people are aware of the terms of chastity, they still disrupt their thoughts by giving in to this kind of "thing."
10) First thing I would do is to really limit the amount of children to social media especially iPads and the such technology we are given today. Freud believed that our behavior and actions are instinctive. He believed that there are two groups in which our instincts can be classified under. The life instinct (Eros) covers all the self preserving and erotic instincts while the death instinct (Thanatos) covers instincts towards aggression and cruelty. However, Locked believed that our environment and the people around us play a big part in our behavior. He believes that the things that go into our mind come from the environment. He states that as a person grows and develops, they discover more of themselves.

The nature vs nurture theory was created to understand human sexuality. Nature basically states that our sexuality is mapped out in our genes; it's biological. On the other hand nurture says that our sexuality is influenced by our environment.
2.) Discuss Sigmund Freud and John Locke's contention of nature vs nurture.
Freud supported the nature theory. He said that our sexuality is part of our biology, an instinct for us humans. Locke coined the term "tabula rasa" meaning blank slate. Our sexuality develops and is influenced by our environment and what we're exposed to.
3.) Discuss the biological and social differences between a man and a woman.
Women mature earlier compared to men and are thought of as nurturing while the men are competitive. In the past, women were just seen as house-wives while men were the ones who got to work and study. In the present, more women are given the opportunity to study, to get a job and to pursue their passions, not just stay at home.

It's an awkward topic to discuss with your children, especially when the parents don't really know what sexuality is either. It's also seen as taboo, something that shouldn't be discussed out in the open. Most parents think of the word sexuality as just the act and that's why they avoid talking about it. But this is wrong, it is much better to talk about it rather than having kids explore for themselves.

Sexuality isn't just the act for us Christians. It's our whole being and how we express ourselves. It's who we are and how we show it to the world. It's how we do, say and think. It's a fundamental part of being human, it actually makes us human.

It's a gift from God to us. He gave us power to express ourselves through love and sexuality. It's not just an act, it's how we carry ourselves and how we relate other human beings. Sexuality is something that helps us know more about ourselves, and it's God's gift for us to know each other better.

Sexuality is based on the story of Adam and Eve. God said "man is not meant to be alone." Thus He created Eve and gave them the gift to procreate as well. Here God allows them to relate to each other. God made sexuality not just for procreation, He gave it to us for us to relate to each other, as man and woman.

A person can grow in chastity by controlling his/her sexual urges, even at a young age. He/she should also not engage in pre-marital sex and should obey the commandments. He/she must learn to keep lustful thoughts at bay and let God help him/her to grow in grace in chastity. He/she must also not engage in infidelity when the time comes.

The song Let's Marvin Gaye and Get it On has a lot of sexual innuendoes and messages. Unfortunately, sex is dumbed down and degraded in this song. Sex is supposed to be intimate and sexuality is not just sex. This song has a lot of things wrong and understanding sexuality in CL class has helped me to understand what sexuality really is. It's a gift and it's your whole being. It's how you express yourself not acts on a bed.

First I would correctly define sexuality. Many still have the misconception that sexuality is just sex. The I would promote equality among the sexes and the importance of knowing your sexuality. Sexuality is how you express yourself, it's part of who you are and we need to embrace it. The youth needs to know that sexuality is an important part of growing up and maturing to the person God wants you to be. Sexuality is a gift that we should appreciate, use and get to know better.

In lie of nature, it states that our sexuality is biological, and is explained through the tabulation of our genes. Whereas with nurture, it states that the different factors in our surroundings such as in society determine or influence or sexuality.

Freud's theory assumed that behavior is rooted in biology. He said that instincts are the principal motivating forces in the mental realm. His instinct theory said humans are driven from birth by the desire to acquire and enhance bodily pleasures, thus supporting the nature debate. John Locke rejected the assumption that there are innate differences among people and said people are strongly influenced by their social environments, especially by education. He believed it is accurate to view a child's mind as a tabula rasa or blank slate; whatever goes into the mind originates in the surrounding environment.

Men are usually viewed as the stronger, protective, and more competitive one. They are seen as the main provider and supporter of the family, while women on the other hand, are seen as the ones who are more nurturing and loving especially to their children. However, in today's present times, women are now just as equal as men are.

First of all, it only becomes an awkward topic because parents try to avoid such discussion in the hopes that if it isn't talked about, their children will be less exposed to acts such as premarital sex. And since parents don't bring it up, children tend to explore this world by themselves.

Like the rest of God’s creation, the sexual differences between man and woman are pronounced “very good” (Genesis 1:31). We therefore affirm human sexuality to be a gift of God. By God’s grace, human sexuality both enriches and fulfills our personhood.

Sexuality is an essential attribute of human nature. It is an obviously significant influence in human life, but our Creator did not intend it to be the defining characteristic of humanness. A person can grow in chastity by understanding the true value of human sexuality by having patience in waiting for the one, and having self-control by not misusing the acts of sexuality.

I think this plays a great role in influencing the youth about human sexuality. It allows them to think that being unwholesome, especially at this time and age in high school is something that you would call "normal". The nature argument states that the sexuality of a person is determined by biological factors, what you are born with is how you will live. Nurture on the other hand, states that the sexual orientation of a person is molded by his/her surroundings and environment.

John Locke believes that every single new born baby is born with a blank slate, while Sigmund Freud believes that everyone is born already with an identity. Through nurture, we are molded. By nature, we are given our sexuality and personality.

A man is generally physically stronger than a woman. This is mainly because of the build of their bodies and differences of hormones. They have different sexual organs.
