Some may like it but some may not. That is why these kinds of song shouldnt really be out there available to everyone because "everyone" means that its also available for little kids who are not supposed to hear it.

  8. I learned that there a lot of songs that are written about sex. Songs express feelings or expirences of the artist and that's what they write about. They are given a platform for their thoughts to be heard and they write whatever they want to. Even though the song may be catchy or has a good tune theres a double meaning.

The song expresses a man’s confession of infedility. I learned that this is how many people convey their messages on topics like sex. It sounds like a light, romantic song, but there are deeper meanings to the lyrics other than its literal meanings.

  10. From this activity, I learned that many of the popular songs today and from before are about sex or have to do with sexual depictions. Even the most popular and catchiest songs can be about the most profound things. It seems to be that (mostly) for a song to become popular, it has to do with sex and etc. Although this does not always apply.

I learned in this activity that there are different ways to depict sexuality, especially in music. Doesn't matter what genre the song is, they would have the same topic of choice. Although sexuality is supposed to be something between the person and whoever they would tell it to, they seem to express it though song. In the end, people have different opinions on what sexuality is.

What I've learned from the activity is that many singers and songwriters have a creative way of applying sexual themes into their songs. Indeed, it is quite an artistic process, but they are bashed and judged rather than being applauded for their artistry and being confident and singing what they want. This is the 21st century, sex isn't as taboo as before. It's part of growing into adults and discovering who you truly are. We shouldn't be scared of our own sexuality, but cherish it for it is a gift from God in order for us to reproduce.

I found this activity very interesting because it speaks so much behind the fields of sexuality in which I would like to learn more and know what else there is to know. I learned that artist can depict this topic in many ways through a song. Though it is obvious that a certain song is about sex, there can also be an underlying meaning. There are many ways to depict sex into a song, it is up to the artists how they intrerpret it.

  24. I learned that artists tend to write songs about all aspects of life from money, love, family and sex. And from these songs, they all have a different impact on different people far or near, white or colored. It doesn't matter really since music can transcend race, ethnics, religion and many other sensitive topics.

Through this activity, I learned that sex is a topic that many artists like to express through different genres. However, with many famous artists that people of all ages enjoy, there are not fully aware of what the meaning of the songs they sing are.

  26. In the song Bump N' Grind, we could see how sex is often mistaken as love. Today, pre-marital sex has been considered as a norm due to our society's modern culture — however, as individuals, we should learn how to discern one from another.

  27. Kisho Gutierrez JG

Throughout the entire activity, I was not surprised in the slightest at the fair amount of sexual songs, nor was I fazed at how explicit the songs could be.
After all, it is an artist's freedom to express whatever topic they want through whatever medium they can utilize.
And also "sex sells" is a thing in this world.

  28. Lorenzo Torres JG

I learned that when artists wanna write about sex, the best way to get the message across is to use innuendos instead of blatantly using the word sex. It helps with attracting audiences because the songs become more innocent and open since the message isn't given from the start. The songs become more convenient to sing and for people to express them without giving a big message.

  29. I learned that a number of artists express themselves sexual songs, it's probably their way of expressing their sexuality. Moreover, each song has a unique meaning to them and that is what makes them interesting. You also get to know a little about the artist through the songs they compose. However, nowadays people just listen to these songs without actually knowing the real meaning behind them, and that is such a shame because people will never know the real beauty of the song.

Various artists have different ways of expressing themselves and their thoughts. Through this activity, i learned the stands of different artists on sex. 33. From this activity, I learned that nowadays, songs are used to express sexual desire. Artists have different interpretations of sex and it's voiced out through the lyrics or sometimes the melody. Also, sometimes songs have a deeper meaning to it and you have to read between the lines to understand the song. Therefore, I found this activity fun and helpful for interpreting and understanding songs these days.

  34. Through this activity, I discovered this generation's perception on sex and sexuality. Many of the songs of this generation show sex as a form of escape, and the perception of it being a gift from God and an act done out of love is gone or diminishing. I've also noticed how many see this as profane because of how media portrays this. By simply seeing the meanings of the songs my classmates and I chose, the way people view sexuality is very different from how it is really supposed to be perceived.

  35. I learned that people now are just using sex for pleasure and not for what it is supposed to be used as. People need to realize that God gave us this gift for a reason and we are not using it as it is meant to be. People just go around from bed to bed with different people and not with just one partner. People use this as a bragging right and it should not be used like that

In our world today, there is an increasing amount of ways in expressing yourselves. Some people express themselves through art, and some through music. Through this activity, I learned that there is more meaning behind the songs someone writes. It could say something that you like, something you want to do, or something you've experienced before. The song that I have chosen for this activity conveys the message that sex is not just something we do for nothing. It is a product of something greater, which is love.

Thanks to this activity I realized how we can be deceived by various forms of media and entertainment on what sex is and how they exploit it to sell their songs and not how it should be it should be viewed as something sacred since it's a gift from God. Even if most songs nowadays are mostly about this we should be smart and remain very obedient and not do the nasty in the bed

With the song that I chose, I realized that in our generation, some people date people just for sex and not for the real love. They just use them for their body and not what they really are. I hope that this is something that doesn't continue in the future.

  49. I have learnt that majority of the songs in our generation nowadays are euphemized and have double meanings. I have also noticed that the tunes and the lyrics of all the songs that I have encountered through this activity are not aligned and do not sound right for each other. In summary, I would say that we must also consider a song's meaning and its lyrics besides its pleasant tune.

  50. I learned that there are so much sensual songs that we are not even aware about. These songs may not seem like they are about sex but when you look into the lyrics, they are heavily into the sensual side. I also realized that nowadays sex is no longer the sacred thing that it is supposed to be. Instead people use this to satisfy their temptations, and other pleasures.

My song choices came from the 90's. An seen in the many songs before and in today's generation, sexuality, sex and most importantly, the value of love and reproduction, is viewed very differently in the sense of mere pleasure. This is a wrong view. Media and Music is also very powerful and can influence the mind sets of our future generations, associating in their lyrics the wrong view point of sex. Many songs today when analyzed, have many second meanings that also lead to the wrong view on sex.

I chose a song not about sex but about sexuality. I chose "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross. What the song conveys is that she previously couldn't accept that she was gay and couldn't tell anyone about it. This song is now about accepting herself and being confident enough to do so. What I learned is that song writers convey emotions through their songs based on real life experiences. A lot of songs nowadays are about heartbreak and love and sex, only because these are things that the song writers really go through.

  55. My song was a main stream popular song that was on top of the charts for months. The song "Whistle" is a song with a catchy chorus that hides a dirty meaning behind it. My song is very nice to listen to because it's by John Mayer, but it may have a deeper meaning if you listen to it. It talks about his love for his partner and cuddling with her and appreciating her. It let me realize that John Mayer is cool and he's a good writer lol :)

  57. From the song that I have decided to choose, I based it from its various messages and intentions to spread to different kinds of audience. This experience tested my maturity, open-mindedness and honesty. In today's time, there will always be unique ways on how to express each and everyone's feelings-- and one of which is considered to be in a form of music. Music in today's time is considered to be the very essential of every generation as it guides and completes their personality as a person. However, these messages brought by the singers / composers are often misunderstood that influences the listeners. Sex is not considered to be as private and sacred anymore as the "stereotypes" ate its real essence.

I learned that a lot of songs can have a sensual connotation, and you might not notice unless you listen and think about the meaning of the lyrics. I also noticed that most songs nowadays portray sex as nothing but an act and does not give it the recognition it deserves as the way in which a new life is conceived.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Through this activity, I have started to realize that many songs nowadays seem to advertise sex, and making it seem like an action which is not very consequential. My selected song centered more on how sex is fun and how it can help make you more comfortable with your skin. Although the intentions of this generation's artists may be good, it cannot be denied that we should treat sex as a more sacred act, and that it should not be treated lightly.

Through this activity, I realized that a lot of songs these days mostly revolve around the "beat" of the music, not the lyrics. Songs about sex, drugs, parties... A bunch of unrealistic nonsense (to some extent) that can influence the youth in a bad way. In the old days, music was a form of expression, a way to connect to people, a way to empower them. Not to say that the music today doesn't follow this, it's just that SOME songs tend to exaggerate what happens in real life and/or in relationships. One topic that's been overused is sex. Songs these days tend to praise and glorify sex, some indirectly talk about it and state how bad it is. It's a very mixed message but we shouldn't treat it as a hobby or an activity that makes you "cool". Sex is an act of reproduction, and that's that. (Some may argue that it's a showcase of a couple's love for one another, but even then, people tend to abuse that idea.)

  62. From the activity, I learned that nowadays, with the widespread influence of commercialized music, videos and social media, the perception of the true meaning of sex and human sexuality is obscured — which proves the power of these various media forms to influence the new generation. Its true meaning and definition is twisted and reduced to simply the act of having sex. When we listen to a sexual song or watch a sexual video, we must know and analyze carefully what it wants to convey. We should not let the true meaning of human sexuality be twisted and concealed.

In this activity in which we had to trace our hand, write a title of the song and explain it's messages; I learned that many songs nowadays have many hiddens messages. Most of the hidden messages contain usually negatively shown acts, such as the act of sex being sexualized and used in the promotion. We should not use the act of sex to sexualize or promote anything as it is something which should be done in private and for procreation and life-giving acts. People should learn that this should not be so as it promotes the act of sex in a normal context in which people only do it for a hobby or past-time, but no we should be doing it in proper context and proper circumstances such as after marriage and only for the purpose of life-giving.

I chose this song, since it had clear parts that show how sexual desire is presented. Some lyrics in the song were altered to have a less sexual meaning in other versions, but ultimately gives messages of carnal desires. The reason for songwriters creating lyrics such as these may not be so clear; however, this activity could help us better understand sex in a more 'musicaly related' way.

  66. Passion, intimacy, love - words all but forgotten when we think about "sex". Where has the sanctity of the experience gone? Humanity has succumbed to it's own lustful and uncontrolled desires to experience the pleasures of sexual engagements, only to lose the holiness that comes with it. As we've progressed over time, sex has become such a run-of-the-mill concept. Through media, it being the most accessible and widespread resource nowadays, we see sex being communicated as a casual undertaking. Sad to say, because of how influential media has become, mankind hnow abides to a concept that is undoubtedly antithetic from that of the ways of the lord.

Through this activity, I realized that there is a vast number the songs that we've grown up with and grew to love so much over the years because of their catchy beats, and we only see now how these songs actually have concealed or underlying meanings to their lyrics which actually talked about things such as sex, which can come out as bad influences to the youth who hear it. These can bring out very mixed messages to those who hear these things, and I believe that the act of sexual intercourse is something supposed to be kept sacred and not so blatantly thrown around as something to be used for satisfying ones self and for self pleasure.

I found BITE by Troye Sivan the perfect song that best fits the requirements for this activity. From this activity, I was able to express Troye's love for lust and at the same time I was able to let others know the true soul of the song which is about homosexuality. In addition, I was able to recognize other songs and discover more songs that were about sex and other related topics. Now I can further appreciate the work and effort that goes into making lyrics to a song about something controversial such as homosexuality. All in all, God made us and blessed us with the gifts/talents we have. The many artists have used their blessings to convey a message to the world about love, lust, sex ,etc. We are to keep in mind that sexuality is a gift from God but at the same time it may be expressed or defined in different ways such as that of the many songs used for this Hand Collage activity.

This may be one of the reason why kids these days are eager to do "it" already. Through this activity, I was able to showcase what it truly means.

  90. I learned from the activity that sometimes there are sexual explicit topics in some of the songs today. This goes both ways since this sets as a reminder on how our world is nowadays particularly on how the youth see sex and also it is bad since it may influence others. So it is all up to us on how we should deal with these and deal with it positively.

My reflection of this is that, I realized that our culture tends to base a lot of songs on topics that are not moral. Such as the song I chose "3 Days" which is about having an affair. These songs tend to promote the things that the songs are about which is not what we want to youth to do, so this is alarming.

I chose GIRL by Daoko because I wanted to show something that's different in terms of how it approaches human sexuality from what I'm expecting batchmates to enter. This song criticizes the anomalous behavior that stems from human sexuality unlike what a lot of people who listen to songs that adhere to the concept of "sex sells." I planned to show it's predecessor, MEMEME! Though the music video it accompanies itself strongly reinforces the anomalous behavior of human sexuality, it's too graphic, and the uncensored version of it may draw out something else from people with immature minds. To be honest, I don't like listening to songs adhering to "sex sells," and the irony in that is that even kids are listening and dancing to its tune, but at least this activity reminds of the reality of art these days: secretly dirty.

    1. oh and in the song I mentioned, only the video is graphic, not the translations of the lyrics.

  93. I chose Thnks Fr Th Mmrs by Fall Out Boy because this song relates with the current lesson. This is basically two people having a one night stand and lusting for each other. In this song, the two people wanted to get rid of the sexual desires however the guy wasn't satisfied therefore the guy needs one more night. I learned that in the present time, most of our songs or artists make songs about sex which will influence the people to commit adultery but i still admire all the artists because they have the ability to create music. Without music, life is boring and it is a way for the singers to connect with the nation.

  94. The song I chose was Paradise Awaits by ZHU. From my understanding of the song it sounds like he is sexually aroused and is in need of some sexual healing. He thinks a lot about sex that even what Coke out of his mouth is about sex. This made me realize how maybe some of our peers feel this way when they need to understand that sex can wait.

What I learned during this activity is that sex can be expressed in different forms such as in songs. Songs now talk more about sexuality. There are many songs which give different interpretation about sex and stuff related to it. I have learned that though some of these songs talk about sex openly, some of it is quite inappropriate and forgets the sacredness of sex.

  96. The song I chose was I Just Had Sex by The Lonely Island. The song was about the person after his sexual encounter. He sings about how amazing and addictive it is, in which he also states that he will not go back to his non-sexual life. It made me realize that sex can be very addictive to a person once he or she has encountered it

I chose the song "Fallingforyou" by the 1975. It is about one night stands and wanting to be more than friends with a person through sexual acts. The singer sings about how he enjoys the physical feeling of the person he loves against him. Although this song is supposed to be sweet, it still contradicts the lesson that human sexuality is a gift and should be kept sacred until after marriage.

  98. I chose the song, You Shook Me All Night Long, by AC/DC. It depicts God's greatest gift, as a tool of fulfilling urges, only to come back for more. This shows sex as not only a pleasure machine, but as a drive through. It describes sex as a "in and out" scenario, speaking of how he physically, yet excessively received sexual comfort without acknowledging any form of spiritual enlightenment and connection with his partner. This proves how us as a young audience is exposed to repetitive sexual encounters (through media, music etc..) and how we are influenced to describe sacred acts of love, and unity

From this activity, I learned that sex has deeper meaning than I thought it had. Before, I thought sex was just expression of love, pleasure, and means of reproducing. After analyzing my chosen song "Marvin Gaye", I came to realized that sex is way more important or sacred than I thought it was. In sex, both partners are sharing the gifts of their own body to each other. Through this, they become united as one man, which why they no longer feel no shame with each other. However, most people don't know its true meaning and think of it as just a pleasure.

  101. I picked the song "I Just had Sex" by the Lonely Island. I learned a lot from this activity, mainly that song don't even try to hide the meanings in their songs, the song I chose is literally about a guy who just had sex. No hidden agenda there, its in the title. Back then it was simply implied but in this activity we see that many modern songs just say "sex this" and "sex" that. It made me realize that the world we live in is very sexualized and for the wrong intentions and reasons. And that its also pretty messed up.

  102. I chose the song "Strip to this" by cherub. It talks about how a guy wants to have sexual intercourse with a stripper and the girl is using the money she earns just to buy a meal. It shows how some people use sex for money and for themselves. this activity made me realise how there are actually a number of songs which actually talk about sex which is very concerning and odd. Human sexuality should only come after marriage. Beatrix Longa JI

In this activity I have learned that we should take the topic sex seriously. In the song that I chose "sexual healing" it tells us that sex can give a lot of benefits. We shouldn't just enclose our minds on sex only being pleasure, we should also think about the other things that we can get from it.

In this activity, I learned that there is sex in many songs. In the song "I want your sex", the artist is showing how he sees sex. He said that we should have sex and it has benefits. The song taught me that there are good and bad things about sex. We should all take the topic sex seriously because it is something that may be part of our life.

Throughout the activity I learned that in today's pop culture, almost all songs have sexual innuendoes or messages. Sex is supposed to be a intimate but it has been degraded to the point that it is explicitly heard on the radio. The alarming amount of immoral content in these popular songs is a sign of this generation's disregard for morality. Expressing yourself is great only when it isn't offensive.

I chose "Drunk in Love" by Beyonce. The song's lyrics express lust and love-making with a wholly committed lover. The girl is not intoxicated by liquor and such because she's actually lit up with attraction for her man. Throughout the activity, I learned that human sexuality is a gift. All of us should take it seriously because it is sacred. It should also be kept like that until after marriage. It is a must that we know how to respect ourselves in order for others to respect us as well.

The song that I chose was Do it again by "Pia Mia." The singer tells us about her one night stand and how much she wants to do it again. She also talks about wanting to be more than friends. I've realize in our generation most of our songs are about parties, drinking, physical attractions and sex. There are times that we sing a long to a song or we sing it over and over without realizing the meaning behind it. Human sexuality is a gift given to us by God. Therefore, we should learn how to use it wisely. We could do this by not taking the idea of having sex too lightly. We should only do it in the right time which is after marriage.

In this activity, I learned about things involving chastity. The song I chose is Love Gun by the famous rock band Kiss. This song advocates the temptation of having pre-marital sex. It expresses the idea of how sex can be really addicting and how it cannot be escaped. Additionally, it shows how love is being used only as a thing to acquire sexual pleasure. This goes to show that there is explicit commercialization of sex in the media all around us ;and, is influencing the mentality of today's youth.

In this activity, I learned that songs nowadays are used by artists in order to express sexual desire and to convey their thoughts regarding sex despite their different perceptions on it. In line with this, their lyrics usually have a deeper meaning to it.

In this activity, I realized that sex is a big part of the music industry. Most of the songs we hear nowadays, although not obvious most of the time, refer to sex. The generation nowadays is so used to hearing about it in the radio and watching it in movies that they've (or we've) become numb and insensitive to the topic of sex. Often times, sex is confused with lust and physical attraction—and I think, because of the overloading of sex in music today, "love" is perceived as a one night stand with someone who has a "big ass and big tits."

Even before doing this activity, I am already fully aware of how influential media is in our current generation, and how they appeal to many people. Despite its potential to spread good things, I notice that nowadays, lots of media tend to be very sinful and disturbing. Oftentimes, we hear many swear words in the movies we watch or the games we play, and as this activity suggests, there is usually a dirty thought put into making songs. It is accepted that love is a common theme among songs, however, in our current time, many songs tend to usually contain something dirtier, something we would prefer not to hear. Having realized that human sexuality is now misunderstood among society, and mistaken for something immature, something degrading, really makes me feel shocked about how much our world has changed today, in a negative way. In conclusion, I am now more aware that we are exposed to many negative and socially unacceptable messages hidden in everyday agenda. We must be careful about what we watch or what we see, because not everything is what it seems to be. We need to look deeper now into what we see to determine if it is right or wrong.

I learned again that music and its songs really do have deeper meanings within the lyrics. Just like the song I chose which is "Dressin' Up" by Katy Perry; it depicts a sense of sexual desire. Our media in this generation is evidently and definitely influential in which it greatly influences us and our way of thinking.
