"Unrolling of Truths" by Sean Aguinaldo, JF
“Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”
— these were the last words that I have encountered in this week's gospel. You
might be wondering why I have named the title "Unrolling of Truths";
Well, it isn't a long story actually. After finishing this passage, I felt like
I've been introduced into a new perspective of life. I felt like I have
discovered the true meaning on why I was brought to this world. To furthur
introduce this reflection, I would like to emphasize the fact that this week's
gospel truly helped me understand the things I need to conduct as a child of
God — and I hope that the gospel would be the same for you.
There was a time when I felt so alone and unloved. A time
when I felt like nobody was by my side and that I had no one behind my back
besides myself — but I thought wrong. During that time, I realized, "who
cares what other people think about me?" I thus gained a bigger
understanding on the fact that these ungrateful people are not the only people
living in this planet and that I should lean towards people who are willing to
share some sense of optimism with me. To incorporate it with the gospel, the
saying "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to
bring glad tidings to the poor." has truly caused me to develop a new
belief. A belief that I will absolutely cherish and follow for the rest of my
life. Looking back at my past, here I am today contemplating on the fact all
this time, I was not alone. I now realized that even when I was inside my
mother's womb, the Lord's spirit was living inside of me; and now that I'm all
grown up, I must fulfill what the scripture wants me to do — and that is to
bring glad tidings to the poor.
On the whole, this gospel has opened more productive opportunities
that I must fulfill in this life that the Lord has given me. I was brought to
this world in order to help the needy and make them feel worthy of living here.
I do believe that through this gospel, I must spontaneously be a good living
citizen of Earth by showing my love and care to every person here on Earth.
Regardless of age, gender, or race — each and every one of us have the Spirit
of the Lord living inside of us, and we must attain the important duties that
the Lord wants us to fulfill. We must forget about ourselves for a moment, and
use the Spirit of the Lord inside of us through giving glad tidings to the poor
and setting them free from oppression.
