ReplyDelete1. In view of the MTV "Sirena" how is a homosexual presented by the interpreter who sung the song in the first person.
> Watching the Sirena music video, I have seen that the homosexual is presented as a victim of very harsh bullying. In this music video, we see that homosexuals go through many hardships that the naked eye or the average person cannot see.
2. What key statements or phrases in the lyrics would attest how discriminating our culture is towards homosexuals. Write at least 5.
> "Kahit anong sabihin nila ako ay ubod ng ganda" This shows that homosexuals are victims to verbal bullying, and that it is a culture of the Filipinos and what people see as "normal".
> "Gamit ang pulbos na binili kay Aling Bebang
Upang matakpan ang mga pasa sa mukha
Na galing sa aking ama" This line shows that even his father is not accepting of his sexuality.
>"Sa patagalan ng paghinga, sa'kin kayo ay bibilib" This shows that because of the culture of the Filipinos, the homosexuals believe that they always have to prove something to their fellow countrymen.
>"Kahit anong gawin nila bandera ko'y di tutumba"
>"Palakad-lakad sa harapan ng salamin,
Sinasabi sa sarili "ano'ng panama nila?""
3. How then should homosexuals be properly treated. Give at least three concrete examples.
> Homosexuals should be treated the same way heterosexuals are treated. They must not be shown that society believes that they are "mutants", because they are not.
> Homosexuals should be given the right to wear what they want whenever they want. Clothes are not gendered.
> Homosexuals should be let to do whatever they want, regardless of the gender roles. They should not be discriminated and they should not be seen as a "whole other species".
4. Love wins case in the US Supreme Court. Give your opinion.
> I believe that the LGBT community has finally been given justice, and I am very glad. I believe that US must act as a role model to other countries in the world, to be able to end sexual discrimination and to advocate gender equality.
5. Give your opinion on the article "Islamic Treatment of Homosexuals".
> I feel like homosexuality should not be treated as a crime. It is something people cannot control. It would just be like imprisoning a mom for being a parent. It is unfair for a person to be treated like that for being who they are.
6. Homosexuality is a disease or a sickness according to the amended Civil Code of the Philippines. Give your reaction.
> It is definitely not a disease. Though we are a Catholic country and we are supposed to be natrually against homosexuality, we must also know that no one God created was a mistake. Diseases and sicknesses kill and hurt people. Homosexuality is the exact opposite, it may be one of the reasons some people are still alive.
7. Compare and contrast: Western countries and Asian countries as to treatment of homosexuality.
> Western countries treat homosexuals better, as seen in the Love Wins case. As for Asian countries, they are not as accepting. It is evident in the Islamic and Philippine treatment of homosexuals, topics in the articles posted below.
1.) Homosexuals were described as completely different people. Both the song and music video made it seem as though being a homosexual is a sin and is something that is punishable for.
ReplyDelete2.) "Mga labi ko'y pulang pula, Sa bubble gum na sinapa",
"Habang kumekembot ang bewang, Mga hikaw na gumegewang"
"Hanggang sa naging binata na ako Teka muna mali, dalaga na pala 'to"
"Ano bang mga problema nyo? Dahil ba ang mga kilos ko'y iba, Sa dapat makita ng inyong mata"
"Tama na naman itay, di na po ako pasaway Di ko na po isusuot ang lumang saya ni inay"
3.) Homosexuals should be treated no different from other people as they are regular people as well. If you are nice to someone who is heterosexual, then you should be just as nice to a homosexual. If you are willing to share your food with a heterosexual, then you should be just as willing to share with a homosexual. If you are giving compliments to other people, then you shouldnt stop yourself from complimenting homosexuals just because of their sexual orientation.
4.) Personally, I am very happy that the case on same sex marriage in the United States was approved. It makes me happy because it gives everyone the opportunity to love whoever they want to love without having to hide it or be ashamed of it. It gladdens me because the Supreme Court captured the true meaning of love by ensuring that everyone gets the chance to love equally.
5.) While the article on Love Wins brings me joy, the article on Islamic treatment breaks my heart. No one deserves the treatment that was brought to the homosexuals. Whether someone is a heterosexual or homosexual, they do not deserve to go through and experience the amount of pain that these people went through. It makes me sad because rather than loving one another, they choose to hurt others and act selfishly based on their beliefs.
6.) I do not believe that homosexuality is a disease at all. Being a homosexual does not mean that you are disabled whatsoever. Homosexuals are no less humans than us and deserve to be treated the same. Their sexual orientation should not be labeled as a disease not just because it is offensive, but also because they are no more disabled than we are.
7.) In western countries, homosexuals are treated a little bit better than in Asian countries. Asian countries take into consideration religion relatively more than western countries which is why it is harder for them to accept homosexuals. Fortunately, more Asian countries are beginning to accept homosexuals. They have been treated better as compared to past treatments.

1. Aristotle Pollisto, otherwise known as Gloc-9, and his friend Raymond Marasigan, realized that there were so many songs about homosexual people but nobody has ever made a video showing the point of view of the homosexual his/herself. The music video of the song Sirena shows the struggles of a homosexual and the acceptance that he/she longs for. A homosexual in this video is represented as a human being with feelings and not someone that can be made fun of. The video shows how discriminated homosexuals are.
3. •You should respect them and their choices.
•You should not make fun of them or judge them for being different.
•You shouldn't hit them or blame them for being born homosexual because there is nothing wrong with that.
4. In my opinion, this is a very good and progressive thing. Justice Anthony Kennedy stated, "No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family." I believe that no matter who you are marrying, be it someone of the same sex or someone of the opposite sex, you should be allowed to marry because marriage is a bond that can go on even after marriage, and even homosexuals should be granted that freedom. Fortunately, in all fifty states of America, they are granted that freedom.
5. I believe that religion is an important part of someone's life. I'm not Muslim, therefore I don't believe I can judge the rituals they perform. I respect the traditions and laws that they have, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I agree with them. I believe that it is wrong to be violent and murderous towards someone because of something that he/she did not choose. Being homosexual is not something a person can help, and I'm sure that if it could be helped homosexuality would have been gone long ago. I think that homosexuals have the right to live just as much as heterosexual people do, and just because a person is homosexual doesn't mean that he/she is less of a human than a heterosexual person, so I think the way the Muslims treat homosexuals is not right but I respect their choices because I am not Muslim so it's not for me to say whether what they do is bad or good.
6. I think that the amended Civil Code of the Philippines is really dumb for saying that homosexuality is a disease. It should not be a disease to be attracted to someone of the same sex. The Civil Code of the Philippines believes that it is a mental sickness to be homosexual, but I do not agree with this because being homosexual does not impair a person's ability to do work or function in society. There are some arguments that state that it would take a really crazy person to commit acts that are looked down upon in society, but that should just show people how uncontrollable homosexuals' feelings are and how being homosexual is not a choice. I believe that homosexuals are not ill at all and a lot of them function better than some heterosexual people in this world.
7. I think that western countries are more accepting of homosexual people, and that's good. Since Asian countries are more religious and more in touch with their cultures, they are less accepting.

ReplyDelete1 it showed in the music video that homosexuals were being treated differently and being bullied and forced not to show their true selves.
3 Homosexuals should be treated equally and be shown respect, not laughed at or bullied.
4 Im happy that they approved gay marriage because now everyone has the opportunity to love and be married to the persons they love.
5 This article makes me sad because they are being treated badly and nobody deserves to be treated like this. We are all creations of God and He did not bring us here to sin and to hurt, but to bring peace and equality to the world.
6 Homosexuality is not a disease or sickness because each person had the right to choose this life. It was not given from birth or forced into you like diseases or sicknesses. People have the right to choose their sexuality because they enjoy it unlike sickness or disease. Children are not their parents possessions therefore shouldnt be forced into doing what they do not like.
7 Western countries treat homosexuality better than Asian countries.

ReplyDelete1. In view of the MTV "Sirena" how is a homosexual presented by the interpreter who sung the song in the first person.
In the music video, I noticed that homosexuals were represented as victims of bullying and harrasment. They weren't accepted for who they were and were mistreated in their community - much like in real life.
2. What key statements or phrases in the lyrics would attest how discriminating our culture is towards homosexuals. Write at least 5.

3. How then should homosexuals be properly treated. Give at least three concrete examples.
Homosexuals should be treated as equals because they are no different from heterosexuals. A few examples on how homosexuals should be treated are not judging them for the way they look/act, respecting their opinions, and giving them equal rights.
4. Love wins case in the US Supreme Court. Give your opinion.
I am happy that the homosexual couples are now legally able to be binded together by marriage in the US. It is good that the LGBT community has been given the equal rights they deserve.
5. Give your opinion on the article "Islamic Treatment of Homosexuals".
It breaks my heart reading the "Islamic Treatment of Homosexuals" article because no one deserves the mistreatment the victims experienced. What the Islams did was total injustice and not right at all. It made me angry that the homosexuals were treated so badly.
6. Homosexuality is a disease or a sickness according to the amended Civil Code of the Philippines. Give your reaction.
Homosexualty is definitely not a disease or a sickness. A disease or sickness is something that has the power to make you weak or kill you. Homosexuality does the exact opposite and makes you stronger because being true to yourself is what makes a person strong.
7. Compare and contrast: Western countries and Asian countries as to treatment of homosexuality.
Homosexuals are usually treated better in Western countries than in Asian countries. Because of the customs, cultures, religions and traditions in Asian countries, homosexuals are difficult to accept. In Western countries like America, homosexuals are more accepted because they are more open-minded there. However, both Western and Asian countries still have homosexuality issues that need to be solved.
Balcita JF
ReplyDelete1. In the view of the singer, he portrayed that being a homosexual was tough. No one would accept that you're not attracted to the opposite sex, writing you off as something that should not be seen. It can also be seen in the video that people forcing you to hide your sexuality, to shape you into what society deems as normal for your gender.
2.
In these lyrics, it says of how he participates in things done by girls: putting on earrings, dancing, and putting on powder. He also says of how he partly outs on powder because it's girly, and partly to cover the bruises on his face that his dad gave him. This implies that the father is physically abusing the son, the reason most likely being that his son is a homosexual, and had probably expected his son to turn out 'normal' in society.
3.
• Homosexuals should not be discriminated for what they choose to wear. They should be free to choose what clothes they think define themselves as a person and their sexuality.
• We should treat them normally as people. We should befriend , share experiences, and be kind to them; they are human beings, not something that's from another planet.
• They should be free to adopt and raise children. Their parenting skills are no different from heterosexual parents and may even be able to do a better job at raising children.
4. I was actually very happy of how homosexual marriages have been legalized because of the case with the lesbian couple. They should never be treated as though they don't have a special connection with each other, for they have been showing what truly makes of two spouses loving each other. I'm glad that through their efforts they have made so many things possible for other homosexual couples who struggle with problems such as theirs. I hope that this continues on in the following years so that we can continue to slowly accept these couples.
5. I'm so horrified that people like them still exist, people who would kill just because of a persons' sexuality. To think that they would treat them as if they are a disease, that if they come in contact with them, they will be infected with what they think is disgusting. People should not be put to death just because of how they see themselves as a person; it's just as bad as asking someone to hide heir personality forever in fear of not following the status quo.
6. Only those who have not been properly educated in sexuality would think of loving someone of the same sex as a disease. Homosexuality is and always has been one of the gifts of sexuality given to us by God. He wouldn't have made something if he thought it would cause harm to use. Homosexuality exists because it is one of the way we, as His children, can attain freedom in the highest of forms. Loving someone of the same sex isn't a disease, it is a gift.
7. As can be seen in the two articles, Western and Asian treat homosexuals differently form each other. In the Western countries, it can be seen that they have started to accept the same sex couples and have even allowed same sex marriage. In the Asian counties though, it can be seen that not all have still accepted the change; still inflicting pain on those who are attracted to the opposite sex, going as far as killing them.

ReplyDelete1. In view of the MTV "Sirena" how is a homosexual presented by the interpreter who sung the song in the first person.
- It is shown that the homosexual is a victim of verbal and physical abuse; it shows how homosexuals are discriminated. It is also clear that there are people or that most people think that homosexuality is a sin. These people are human beings as well, no matter what sexuality or gender they may have.
2. What key statements or phrases in the lyrics would attest how discriminating our culture is towards homosexuals. Write at least 5.

3. How then should homosexuals be properly treated. Give at least three concrete examples.
- We should treat them like human beings because they are human beings. We shouldn't treat them this way, like how the MTV shows it. It was also shown that the homosexual was clearly hurt from all the things that were trying to put him down. Don't make fun of someone just because they're different, there is nothing wrong with anyone who feel this way.
4. Love wins case in the US Supreme Court. Give your opinion.
- I am very happy that same sex marriage is now allowed in all 50 states of the United States. It is a very big step for the LGBT community and I think that other countries will follow their footsteps as well, but I also know that there are a number of countries that have approved same sex marriage.
5. Give your opinion on the article "Islamic Treatment of Homosexuals".
- Being a homosexual shouldn't be a crime. No one deserves that kind of treatment no matter what sexuality they may have, heterosexual or homosexual. It just pains me to find out what they do to those innocent people who just want to find someone to love.
6. Homosexuality is a disease or a sickness according to the amended Civil Code of the Philippines. Give your reaction.
- I strongly don't agree that homosexuality is a disease. Just because you fall in love with someone of the same sex automatically makes you someone with a mental illness. They are just human beings looking for the right person to love and if that person is of the same gender, why should we stop that?
7. Compare and contrast: Western countries and Asian countries as to treatment of homosexuality.
- As part of the Love Wins, it seems that western countries are more accepting of homosexual people as countries like the US, Canada, and various countries in Europe that accept same-sex marriage. But since Asian countries are a bit more religious and have certain traditions and cultures, they may be a bit more strict towards this.

They should be treated with respect so no conflicts will happen. People should not make fun of them and people should accept who a person is for being unique in his or her own way.

I think that it is a good thing that we can see justice and righteousness in the supreme court. I believe that this is a start of a new beginning for the lgbt community.
5. Give your opinion on the article "Islamic Treatment of Homosexuals".
I think homosexuals should be treated with respect and not criminals. People should accept others for their own uniqueness.
6. Homosexuality is a disease or a sickness according to the amended Civil Code of the Philippines. Give your reaction.
I think this is just a proof that they are against homosexuality. They use laws to hide the fact that they dont want to allow these kinds of people to be living in their country.

Western countries treat homosexuals better than in Asia. A proof of this statement is that many countries in the west have allowed same sex marriage and such while in asia, it is very evident how they dislike homosexuals.

ReplyDelete1) The music video of Gloc-9 depicts the common life story of most homosexuals that live within the provincial or less fortunate areas of Filipino society. These individuals simply become victims of overly traditional practices and uneducated ideals. Harassment, discrimination, and hate are just a few of the things these people experience throughout their lives; and yet, as shown in the video, we see that they are all capable of everything the rest of us are – most especially loving others.
The direct translation of this is “Using the powder bought from Aling Bebang, I cover the bruises on my face that I got from my father.” This just goes to show that these homosexuals go through immense battering by not only their peers but also their loved ones.
“Ano bang mga problema nyo? Dahil ba ang mga kilos ko'y iba, sa dapat makita ng inyong mata”
This proves the point that people discriminate what’s different, showing a lack of empathy or understanding of things unfamiliar like homosexuality.
“Kahit anong gawin nila bandera ko'y di tutumba”
This goes to show the strength of these individuals, but also points to that wrongful actions are taken against homosexuals.
“Kahit anong sabihin nila ako ay ubod ng ganda” This similar to the previous example, except it points to verbal abuse towards homosexuals as well.
“Kapag ako ay naiiyak ay sumusugod sa ambon iniisip ko na lamang na baka ako'y ampon”
The amount of emotional abuse these individuals go through sparks horrible consequences that include depression and second thoughts about his/her life.
3) Firstly, they should be treated like everyone else. Sexual preference should have no bearing with regard how we treat people, same goes for those who love people of the same gender as themselves.
Next, the very essence of the fight against anti-homosexuality is to break the discrimination against them. The only way to achieve this is worldwide acceptance that these people are merely men or women that act like the opposite sex, nothing wrong with that.
Lastly, we need to educate the masses to attain a pure and united acceptance for these individuals. By doing so, we encourage more people to join the fight for an equal treatment for these homosexuals.
4) About damn time. Discrimination against genders, races and beliefs – lest they be detrimental to society or morally wrong – is a primitive and destructive practice that I’m glad to see finally being diminished and condemned.
5) Firstly, I will not attribute the practices of middle-eastern Islamic practices to the entirety of Islam itself. That said, middle-eastern Islamic discriminatory practices against homosexuals and woman are morally wrong and should be fought against with one united voice.
6) False. A sickness and a disease by very definition are supposed to be detrimental to the health of a human, a society, or a community – which is why I question the government for being so influenced by such an old-fashioned and outdated perspective that is more than likely being hammered down upon these officials by this countries overly-dogmatic and often times ridiculously traditional church. Homosexuals only differ from heterosexuals in how the personalities of these individuals are that of the opposite gender and they should be viewed and respected as human beings and nothing less.
7) Western Countries have, in my perspective, a better educated population with regard to homosexuals which is why they are less discriminatory compared to their more traditional Asian counterparts. The movement for equality was more of a success within said Western Countries simply because the populous began the fight much sooner than we did. It’s about time we match their efforts and attain equality for all genders within our own Asian Regions.
1. Homosexuality is interpreted as somewhat a choice in the song. The guy strived hard and was still proud of who he was even after the discriminations he went through.

4. "Drum na may tubig ang sinisisid naglalakihang mga braso, saki'y dumidikdik"
5. "Na tila di natutuwa ang tuwing ako'y nasisilayam Laging nalalatayan"
3. Homosexuals in my opinion, should be treated just like how everyone is treated, just and fair. They should not be discriminated or bullied just because of how they present themselves to us and who they think they truly are. They should not be deprived of anything just like normal human beings.
4. I am for the case "love wins" because nowadays couples have showed whether the same gender or not, they still show that they truly care for one another and they depict what love truly looks like. Marriage should be all about love not just because of the benefits we can gain from it.
5. I am against the way of how islams think of homosexuals, they are still people that deserve the same and fair treatment everyone receives.
6. For me I don't think of homosexuality as a disease, but more of an "error" in genetic coding, where the genetics get mixed up.
7. Westerners and Asians treat homosexuals differently, because homosexuals act differently in each or different places. Here in Asia they are more likely to dress more femininely or dress up the way the opposite gender does because they are proud and confident of showing who they truly are. Meanwhile the homosexuals in western countries are treated much like everyone else basically still the same, because they still are men.

- The song showed that homosexuals were treated in bad and unfair ways such as being beaten or abused until they are traumatized
2. What key statements or phrases in the lyrics would attest how discriminating our culture is towards homosexuals. Write at least 5.
a. "Gamit ang pulbos na binili kay Aling Bebang
Upang matakpan ang mga pasa sa mukha"
- This shows that he is being abused and could be too scared to admit that he is being abused so he just hides it.
b. Kahit anong gawin nila bandera ko'y di tutumba
- This line shows that a homosexual could be beaten, verbally abused and much more and yet he/she wont back down and will always be strong
c. "Dahil ba ang mga kilos ko'y iba,
Sa dapat makita ng inyong mata"
- this line says that even though homosexuals act differently they are still the same as us
d. "Kapag ako'y naiiyak ay sumusugod sa ambon
Iniisip ko na lamang na baka ako'y ampon"
- this says that these people are hurt and abused so much that they start to think if they even belong in the family or not
e. "Kahit medyo naiinis hindi dahil sa nagka-cancer
Kasi dahil ang tagapag-alaga mo'y naka-duster"
- this says that some people get annoyed with homosexuals more than something like cancer or other things on that level
3. How then should homosexuals be properly treated. Give at least three concrete examples.
- We should treat them as normal people because thats what they are
- We should stop abusing them and hurting them for what they are and just learn to accept
- Obviously we should not execute them just for being a homosexual. Its something they cannot change and we should just accept them for who they are.

3. How then should homosexuals be properly treated. Give at least three concrete examples.
- Everyone in the world should be treated equally. We were born to love one another. In the bible, it is very clear that we Catholics refer to each other as brothers and sisters.
- VIOLENCE IS NEVER THE ANSWER. In the opinion of the majority, I believe that everyone has the right to enjoy life. Just because a person is homosexual it doesn't mean that a person who is straight or a person who follows their faith or religious practice can abuse this homosexual person simply because he/she believes that they are the opposite sex.
- Respect and love. Same as equality. Everyone deserves to be respected and loved and to be happy. We already live in such a hypocritical world. There are so many people whether gays, lesbians, straights (you name it), speaking up to end the discrimination against this controversial topic. Being part of such a young generation as of the moment, we see that we want to make a change. We want to be a part of history wherein everyone can be treated equally but not just with justice, but with love, happiness, respect, and care.

Delete- I have never been happier. Though there are many who still are against it, it shows that love is more powerful than the hurtful words and the negative actions against the homosexual. I am happy that the state has finally accepted the fact that love is the most powerful force in this universe. Before this happened, people were so against it, but now there are people who have finally opened their eyes and hearts. Homosexuality has never been a problem when it comes to love, but when it came to the divided sides of both political and religious areas, it became a controversial topic.
5. Give your opinion on the article "Islamic Treatment of Homosexuals".
- Horrible. I do not see any adequate reason behind this. To think that the Sirena video was already sad because of the abuse, but killing people because they're homosexual is sick. There is no point. What's the whole reason they do this? What are the benefits? NOTHING.
6. Homosexuality is a disease or a sickness according to the amended Civil Code of the Philippines. Give your reaction.
- I don't think these people know what a "disease" is. A disease is a disorder. Homosexuality is not a disorder. It's a sexual preference. I don't understand why people are so against it. Especially the fact that your setting is based here in the Philippines. It is completely clear that in Article II Section 5 of the Philippine Constitution states that "The maintenance of peace and order, the protection of life, liberty, and property, and the promotion of the general welfare are essential for the enjoyment by all the people of the blessings of democracy." This is one of the few laws that says that we should enjoy life in the state. If the citizens in your state can't accept live happily, then what is the point of this law?
7. Compare and contrast: Western countries and Asian countries as to treatment of homosexuality.
- Some of the Western Countries accept the homosexuals while here in Asia people aren't very accepting. Basically here in Asia, there are a lot of people who discriminate.

People should also appreciate how they had the courage to come out as a homosexual because that's a hard task for them. Everyone should see them as a normal human being and respect them like one.
4. The Love Wins case was a very helpful thing to the U.S. citizens because a number of people finally had the chance to be happy. I think that it's a good thing that that case happened because it encouraged homosexuals to truly be theirselves around society. It brought equality with all genders and I think that's a good thing.
5. The way homosexuals are treated by Muslims is too harsh. They don't deserve to be crushed by broken walls just because they're different in terms of sexual preference that don't go with their sex. They should be treated equally because they are also humans.
6. Homosexuality is not a disease or a sickness. I think it's highly misleading to think that way because it is not a sickness of the mind or a contagious disease. It's perfectly normal to be homosexual nowadays and people should accept that. Everyone should be treated equally and having a different sexual preference shouldn't hinder one to be treated fairly.
7. Both Western and Asian countries have homosexuals, although Western countries accept them a lot more in terms of legalizing gay marriage. On the other hand, Asian countries are still learning to accept them and they are treated harsh in some areas. The treatment towards homosexuals differ in countries and homosexuals act different depending on where they live.

This again is something that is very disappointing to hear. How can one say that homosexuality is a disease? How can one be so insensitive to ones sexuality? It is not a good feeling to have your sexuality be called a sickness or diseases. I see homosexuality as a choice to others so that they can be who they really are and not something negative.

It is a given that the western countries are more open and accepting to homosexuality based from the Love Wins case. - I don't think anyone has the right to kill any other person unless it is to save another's life. Killing someone because they're gay isn't just wrong, it's inhumane. The moment we're able to judge a person by one aspect of their personality, an aspect which they have no control over, then we have lowered ourselves to the level of beasts, lashing out at anything unfamiliar.

- If this is true then I am very much disappointed. The Philippines is one of the most tolerant countries in Asia when it comes to the LGBT community, hearing our own government speaking of such a large portion of the filipino people like their very existence is a mistake frustrates me because I know that we're better than this. Homosexuality is not a sickness or disease, it's simply a way of life.
7. Compare and contrast: Western countries and Asian countries as to treatment of homosexuality.
- I think as a whole, western countries most likely are more accepting of homosexuals than Asian countries. I'm not calling Asians homophobic or anything like that, but a vast majority of discrimination against the LGBT community does happen more frequently in Asian rather than western countries. This doesn't mean that western countries don't have their own bigots, but I think if you were to compare people from western countries and Asian countries then you'd probably find that westerners are more accepting. I'd love to be wrong here though and see Asian countries be open-minded as well.
1.) Homosexuals were described as completely different people. The lyrics of the song and how the video was made, made it seem that being a homosexual is a sin and is something that is punishable for. 2.) "Tama na naman itay, di na po ako pasaway Di ko na po isusuot ang lumang saya ni inay"

They should be given the same respect as the two different genders do to each other. Same privileges should apply for the homosexual gender as whatever they do it will be God who will punish them for their actions 4.) Personally, I am not against it but i am not for it as well. It is against the church that same sex marriage is bad but it was still passed on and approved. I will still respect it as much as possible cause after all we were all made to love each other. 5.) No one deserves the treatment that was brought to the homosexuals. Being a homosexual does not mean that you are disabled or anything. Homosexuals are humans like us and deserve to be treated the same.

The video showed how homosexuality is widely considered to be a taboo by Filipinos especially in the rural areas of the country where people are less likely to be influenced by western ideals. The music video also gave insight on the struggles of homosexuals of society in that it depicted the boy being discriminated and outcasted by the rest of his community. in addition, the music video also showed how the boy's father abused, treated him unfairly and refused to accept him because he was considered different. However, the music video also showed how homosexuals are just as capable as heterosexuals in their ability to do things that any other human being could which was, in the case of the end of the video, to love.

A persons sexuality shouldn't be considered a disease or sickness since it is a part of who a human being. 5. Give your opinion on the article "Islamic Treatment of Homosexuals".
I find it terrible and unfair. It hurts me to know that there are people out there who are cruel enough to do such acts to another human being just because they are different.
6. Homosexuality is a disease or a sickness according to the amended Civil Code of the Philippines. Give your reaction.
7. Compare and contrast: Western countries and Asian countries as to treatment of homosexuality.
It is a well known fact that Asian countries tend to be more conservative and they stick to traditional values. The Western countries, however, are more open to homosexuality, as shown by the fact that gay marriage is now legal in the United States. However, after the Love Wins case, I do hope that the rest of the world follows — especially the Asian countries.

ReplyDelete1. In view of the MTV "Sirena" how is a homosexual presented by the interpreter who sung the song in the first person.
>A homosexual is seen to be different and is bullied. They are viewed as a "mistake that is to be corrected" which is wrong.
2. What key statements or phrases in the lyrics would attest how discriminating our culture is towards homosexuals. Write at least 5.
3. How then should homosexuals be properly treated. Give at least three concrete examples.
>They should be treated with respect, because everyone else is too. They do not differ in terms of their humanity.
>They must be treated with equality, since all our values are equal.
>They should be trusted with love. Just because they are homosexuals doesn't mean they don't feel what we feel.
4. Love wins case in the US Supreme Court. Give your opinion.
>I think this is a great step towards equality and acceptance of the LGBT community. Some countries are finally realizing that homosexuals aren't mistakes, but rather gifts.
5. Give your opinion on the article "Islamic Treatment of Homosexuals".
>It makes me sick that some people would go through drastic measures just to change someone. It is their identity, and no one in the world can take it away from them.
6. Homosexuality is a disease or a sickness according to the amended Civil Code of the Philippines. Give your reaction.
>It is not, because sicknesses need to be cured. Homosexuality isn't something that you need to treat, because there's nothing wrong with it. It should be seen as a gift rather than a disease.
7. Compare and contrast: Western countries and Asian countries as to treatment of homosexuality.
>Western countries, such as the United States, are more open to the idea of homosexuality, compared to Asian countries. In the recent case about the legalization of same-sex marriage, we see that they are very much embracing the idea of homosexuality. For Asian countries, we see that they don't embrace this fact. They try to change and correct those who are completely fine. They should see that there are more important things to handle than this, since nothing is really wrong with it.
