3rd Sunday of Lent Sunday GospelLK 13:1-9
Some people told Jesus about the Galileans
whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.
Jesus said to them in reply,
“Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way
they were greater sinners than all other Galileans?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!
Or those eighteen people who were killed
when the tower at Siloam fell on them—
do you think they were more guilty
than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!”
And he told them this parable:
“There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard,
and when he came in search of fruit on it but found none,
he said to the gardener,
‘For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree
but have found none.
So cut it down.
Why should it exhaust the soil?’
He said to him in reply,
‘Sir, leave it for this year also,
and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it;
it may bear fruit in the future.
If not you can cut it down.’”

ReplyDelete1. The gospel today tells us that it is very important to repent because through this we are able to ask for forgiveness from God for the sins we have committed against him.
2. The topic that I can relate to here is the topic of Human Sexuality since we are taught that our sexuality is a gift from God and sex is done due to the love of a man and woman for each other and the child is the bearing fruit. We must treat our body with respect since this is where the holy spirit resides
3. This topic can overcome the obstacles to chastity in a way that we must follow what God ordered us to do which is to bear life into this earth and cherish it as well. We should value the gifts and blessings from God, don't disrespect him.

1. “But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!” This is stated in the given gospel. I certainly believe that repenting from our sins is truly a significant action that each Christian should commit to doing. This will help us produce a better relationship with God, and it will help us start again from scratch and rise towards becoming a better Christian. Many people, most especially the youth, in our generation today suffer from this challenge because not much would take their confessions seriously and end up repeating the same sin over and over again. We should avoid taking things for granted and getting caught up by every temptation surrounding us, and we should instead focus on living a life free from any sin.
2. A key concept that can be best applied in this gospel is the concept of faith. It was stated in the gospel reading that “– it may bear fruit in the future; if not you can cut it down.” Simply, we represent the tree and our faith represents the fruits; and if we do not increase the amount of faith we have in ourselves, our faith will not become stronger and it will therefore descend. We need to remember that each individual is created in the image of the Lord; and though we have the freedom to do whatever we may desire to do, we should still remember to live faithfully in the likeness of God.
3. This gospel can address the obstacles to human sexuality for it has the ability to remind us that everything happens for a reason. In relation to human sexuality, having sexual relations with our desired loved ones will come at the right time – and that right time is only when both of you are married. Similar to what has been said in the gospel, we should fertilise the fruit within us; and yes, it will take time, therefore we should strengthen our patience and wait for the right time to come.

ReplyDelete1. The challenges in today's present time that can be seen in today's gospel is to repent for our sins. People nowadays don't know how to say sorry to God and even to the people around them. We should repent because the sin and the thought of just hurting someone or God without asking forgiveness will get to us in a negatively way.
2. One topic that can relate to our revalida and today's gospel is human sexuality. God's greatest gift to us humans is our sexuality and we should follow whatever he has planned for us and we shouldn't try to lessen sin especially towards our sexuality.
3. It can address to human sexuality because repenting means you have sinned. Disobeying our sexuality and taking care of our sexuality is a sin so, we have to do our best to take care of it and make sure to not commit sin towards it.

1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
> A challenge that this gospel presents that is seen in today's society is humility. Many people nowadays, especially the Youth, lack this virtue. Many see themselves as "higher" than others. Knowing this, we ust learn to be humble, as we are all equal in the eyes of God.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
> Ontological Dignity - One of the dignities that makes us all equal. Everyone has this, and no one has the right to take this away.
> Human Sexuality - A couple must learn to be patient to be able to attain the "fruit" that they have been waiting to bear.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
> Again, a couple must be patient in order to get what they deserve. If they wish to have a baby/bear fruit, they must wait. Everything takes time, and we must not rush things. Patience is key, and with patience, blessings will come.

ReplyDelete1. the gospel tells us that it is important to be able to be responsible of your actions and to be responsible of the consequences that would come with it. Repent because if not, you will slowly be drifting away from God. Repent because He will always forgive you.
2. The topic that I can relate to here is the topic of Human Sexuality since we all know that our sexuality is a unique gift from God to one another. Having sexual intercourse is also a gift give to all of us which is done to multiply and not be taken granted for.
3. This topic can overcome the obstacles to chastity when we follow the Word of God, when we follow His actions. All He created for the better of us, humans therefore we should not waste it and be thankful and cherish everything He has done and given to us.

ReplyDelete1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
-The gospel is basically telling us that we must repent and be sorry for all of the sins we have done. Everyone commits sin, there's no escaping that, but what matter is what happens after that. Some just go with the flow, and never mind them again. But some repent, and try to come back into Jesus' arms. We must all do this, especially while we are young. The youth do not have as much wisdom, so we must learn while we're still in this early age.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
-One concept from the revalida that we can apply in this is true freedom. True Freedom is not defined as doing what you want, but rather as doing what is good. Repenting and being sorry for our sins are all good acts that we should do. We must also try to avoid all evil, and this includes not asking for forgiveness for our sins.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
-We must not do whatever we want. We have to think of what is good and what is bad. It teaches us that we need to repent for our sins and not commit any sexual acts until we are married.

1.) In today’s society, it is hard for someone to accept that they have sinned. When this happens, it is even harder for someone to repent. If we do not seek forgiveness and repent, we will never be attain true happiness. Other than this, if we do not choose to repent from our sins, then we will perish and the Lord may not bless us.
2.) I believe that the topics of Freedom and Conscience apply to this gospel. This is due to the fact that God has given us the freedom to do what we want with our lives. He has given us the freedom to do whatever and He has entrusted to do what is right in times of temptation and darkness. He has given us the freedom to choose whether or not we will repent from our sins. It becomes up to our conscience, to tell us to repent from our sins. Though are conscience is not perfect, it is still important that we listen to it in order for us to learn from our mistakes.
3.) When we have destroyed the sacredness of human sexuality, it is important that we repent from this sin. Our human sexuality is a God given gift and when we destroy it, we must seek forgiveness as much as we would when we have hurt our brothers and sisters.

ReplyDelete1. The message of the gospel above, taught me that repentance is important since if we do this not only do we ask forgiveness from God for the sins we have committed but we also show our sincerity and how sorry we really are.
2. The topic that I can relate to here Human Sexuality. Since we are taught that we must respect our body or bodies, but others still the opposite and still try to please their sexual desires. We then commit sin, so if we are truly sorry for what we've done then we must repent.
3. We can't simply do whatever we please, we have to think before we act in order for us to differentiate what is right from what is wrong. It has taught us that we need to repent for our sins and not commit any sexual acts until we are married to our partner.
1. This gospel is telling us that we should ask for forgiveness or repent. We should be sorry for all the wrong things we’ve done because God’s always forgiving and we need to show that we deserve His forgiveness. A challenge would be to follow Jesus all throughout all our obstacles and to be more aware of the things we do.
ReplyDelete2. A topic would be Christian Morality because the gospel dwells on forgiveness and sin, therefore we need to be more aware of our morals in order to become better people. Another would be true freedom because we are given the power to make our own choices and we should make them wisely.
3. We must take into consideration the consequences of our actions and we must stay away from sins relating to human sexuality. Asking for forgiveness is a must and we must overcome all the obstacles that will make us immoral.

ReplyDelete1. The gospel talks about repentance and how we should always go back to God. There is nothing wrong with facing admitting our sins because our God is a very forgiving and loving God.
2. The topic that I can relate to here is the topic of Human Sexuality. God gave each of us our own unique identities. Treating our bodies with respect is the best thing we can do in order to thank God for this wonderful gift.
3. This topic can address the the obstacles to human sexuality by returning to God and following his commandments.

ReplyDelete1. Challenges that can be seen in this gospel is that we must repent properly for even the smallest sin we committed against God. The people nowadays have forgotten the sacredness of repenting for their sins. They give half-hearted promises of not repeating the same sin but do so after a few minutes, once again staining themselves with evil.
2. A key concept that can be seen in this gospel if our Christian faith. In the parable that was mentioned in the gospel, it talked about having faith that the tree would bear fruit soon enough and must be given patience. Just like in the parable inside the gospel, we must stay faithful to our religion and to God so that we may stay pure and free from sin.
3. This applies to human sexuality with the act of patiently waiting. We must patiently wait and endure the hardships that are to follow in the future, of the arguments that will rage on with the topic of human sexuality. We must wait and endure for a long battle before we will see the sun rise on a new generation.

ReplyDelete1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
✶ The challenges seen the gospel above are that people are forgetful. They forget that they need to repent for the sins that they have committed and just o=go on with their everyday lives.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
✶ A key concept that can be seen here is the concept of Faith which was talked about in the revalida because the tree represents our faith and to be able for our faith to grow, we must nurture and cherish it and not give up on it.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
✶ This may address the obstacles to human sexuality because knowing our faith means knowing that we must resist temptation and we should pray to God to keep our faith strong.

Everyone is a sinner. No one is perfect in this world. This makes everyone of us an equal. In this world of sin, it is hard for people to realize their faults and wrong doings. It has come to the point of being a hobby wherein people think it is fine. The line of good and bad is destroyed and we do not have the correct conscience to do so. Peer pressure is also evident, further propagating sin as people join in the bandwagon of majority even if they are conscious of their actions. The act of repentance is then forgotten as we think these major issues just give minimal effects.
With our Christian Living class throughout the year, we learn to use our freedom and conscience properly. We are given the freedom to do anything however, we must be responsible for our actions. In this setting, we must then follow the correct choices. Laziness is not a correct lifestyle so we must do something about it. With our sin, we must remember to repent. Our freedom must also be paired with the mindset to not sin. We must also follow our conscience to properly live out moral lives in partnership with our responsibility in freedom. We will forever be sinners, living laziness if we do not act upon it with right freedom and conscience.
Sexuality is a gift from God we must protect and realize its importance. We must act upon it, having a conscious effort to protect it. We must avoid the act of pre marital sex as it is not an act of pleasure but more important in line with reproduction. If we fail to do so, we must remember to repent and do something about it. Sin will forever be present together with the wrong mindset of sexuality if we do not do soemthing with proper freedom and right judgement from our conscience.

ReplyDelete1. We must learn to repent, we must learn to change for the sake of forgiveness of God. We need to take the initiative to change and to be a better person.
2. A key concept taken from the revalida is the concept of, "Freedom" and "Conscience". We all have our God given right to freedom, this is our basis to how we live our life, and with Conscience it guides us on how we treat certain situations. Those work hand in hand to help us attain a better life.
3. We must learn that everything that is given to us is given in time. Patience is key to living a sustainable life with God. We musn't rush life and we must do all in the sanctity of God.

ReplyDelete1. The challenge in this gospel was the challenge that the Galileans had faced. Although they had sacrificed the blood of their sacrifices and put most of their physical effort to show their repent, their sacrifice was almost treated as 'meaningless'. This was because they did so without much passion and thought that just because they suffered more, they get to be better people. People nowadays should realize that in asking for His forgiveness, we must be willing to accept Him back into our lives.
2. A key concept from the Revalida topics that can be applied in this gospel is "Jesus calls us to true freedom". Freedom can be attained once we have accepted Him. In order to do so, we must be willing to give everything up at one point just to serve Him. We must realize that our human nature may cause us to sin, but we must also never forget to repent after. The simplest act of asking for forgiveness is efficient if we show that we truly want it.
3. This gospel addresses the obstacle that we Christians face when grasping our human sexuality. Sacrifice is necessary in order to be able to use this for a good purpose. Despite this, we should never fail to recognize that sacrifice is nothing without faith. If we show that we are faithful to Him and Him only, our sacrifice will then have true meaning.
1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
ReplyDelete•we must learn to ask for forgiveness from the Lord and to do better to not sin because if we ask for forgiveness but don't try our best to do good after then we aren't sorry
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
•our ontological dignity because we are all equal to the Lord
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
•we must learn to be patient and to wait for the right time for God to bless us with the things we need
