5th Sunday of Lent March 13 Sunday Gospel JN 8:1-11
Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
But early in the morning he arrived again in the temple area,
and all the people started coming to him,
and he sat down and taught them.
Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman
who had been caught in adultery
and made her stand in the middle.
They said to him,
“Teacher, this woman was caught
in the very act of committing adultery.
Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women.
So what do you say?”
They said this to test him,
so that they could have some charge to bring against him.
Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with his finger.
But when they continued asking him,
he straightened up and said to them,
“Let the one among you who is without sin
be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Again he bent down and wrote on the ground.
And in response, they went away one by one,
beginning with the elders.
So he was left alone with the woman before him.
Then Jesus straightened up and said to her,
“Woman, where are they?
Has no one condemned you?”
She replied, “No one, sir.”
Then Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you.
Go, and from now on do not sin any more.”

ReplyDelete"Sins"
In my opinion, people have the tendency to judge others for their wrongdoings without even reflecting on themselves. The gospel shows that people are considered hypocritical because they often turn a blind eye to their own faults. Everybody, including I, try to shield our sins from the public eyes, but that is a wrong practice because we should confess our sins instead of hiding them.
One of our topics for our revalida is the full understanding of 'freedom' in God's word. Sin is the only thing that is keeping us from obtaining true freedom and since we are all guilty, we cannot blame others for their own sins. In the gospel, Jesus states:
“Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
With that being said, we can grasp that all sins are equal in God's eyes. We cannot 'sugar-coat' our own sins while we hope for things to get better.
Human sexuality can be related to this because the majority of society finds homosexuality a sin. However, they do not pay attention to the fact that there are a lot of sins that they commit that are even worse than the act of loving a person of the same sex. To fix this, we should really be open-minded and educate ourselves on the true essence of sins and forgiveness.

ReplyDeleteOur society is plagued with moral issues every day; people are given the opportunity to avoid doing good and are tempted to do evil. In the Gospel it is stated that no one is an exception and we shouldn’t fall to extremes when addressing these issues. It is things like this that separate us and divide us as a community, when we single out a person for doing a wrong that the entire community is guilty of.
Chastity isn’t something that should be passed around and not followed, it bring s a whole new version of spiritual belonging and oneness with God. It is controlling your hormones and body so that you will not damage your soul in immoral acts. Chastity saves a person from damnation and it opens your mind to what you can do instead of these sexual things.
This Gospel showed the different issues with sexuality as people see that it is very shameful for someone to commit adultery, we still fall prey to other obstacles to human sexuality. While people did condemn the woman, Jesus did point out that the rest of the people were not as innocent themselves, they discovered that if someone does wrong, they should learn to forgive and help people. God teaches us not to punish, but to understand and help a person in the arms of chastity.

ReplyDeleteThis Gospel is very inspiring and I can relate to this because I am also a sinner. In the gospel all of those people are hypocrites. Nowadays everyone is a hypocrite and everyone judges people for the sins they have done but they also committed the same exact sin or a sin that is related to the other sin. Similarly, in the gospel those people wanted to hurt the girl that committed adultery, but when Jesus said only someone who has not committed a sin is allowed to hurt her. Since everyone is a sinner, we are all equal in the world. Hence, we should treat each other with respect. I think freedom, is a concept that can explain this gospel clearly. We should use our freedom to live the way god told us to live and this is by following the 10 commandments. Clearly this woman did not follow the commandments as she disobeyed the commandment "do not commit adultery" we should use our freedom for us to live a holy life. This is a big obstacle to human sexuality, because when someone commits adultery they are disrespecting their body and also their partners body. And this will be a big obstacle to human sexuality that should be a gift.

ReplyDeletethis gospel is very informative and inspiring. the challenges that our society face today is sin. we are all sinners and we should just try our best not to sin. in terms of the revalida, freedom is the best for me because we have to be free from sin in order to enter the heaven of God. the gospel can address human sexuality because we have to not sin and keep our body chaste in order to achieve eternal freedom in heaven.

ReplyDeleteNow a days we live in a society wherein we only let people see our capabilities and show them how we are better than others. In the process some of us judge others for making mistakes or committing sins but we forget that we also do the same. We might not create the same sin as them but a sin is still a sin. Someone once told me what if someone stole a million pesos in the bank and another person steals one peso in the bank. Both of them will still be committing a crime. The gospel was very insightful. It was able to teach us that God is the only one who has a right to judge us because He is perfect and He is our creator.
In this gospel we can apply the topic freedom. Based on what I have studied true freedom comes with responsibility. Jesus Christ calls us to true freedom by not just avoiding sin but also by loving God and others. In the gospel we can see how Jesus practices this by not getting mad at the Pharisees and scribes when they tried to test him. He also respected the woman and did not judge her for what she has done.
Human sexuality can help us relate to others based on our gender. This gospel was judged by the pharisees and scribes because she has committed adultery. Human sexuality is a gift which we should take care of. We should not let the sins of the flesh control us.
Christina Balagot JH
ReplyDeleteThe gospel talks about how Jesus forgave a woman who had committed adultery. At first, people were ready to condemn her for her sin, but Jesus challenged them by saying the one without sin should be the first to condemn her. He began writing on the ground with his finger and eventually people left.
I think that society tends to overlook their own flaws in order to point out the flaws of others. We shouldn’t even be judging other people for their actions because all of us are imperfect and we sin more than we like to admit. I think that I can relate the gospel with the topic of freedom. True freedom in the new testament means loving God and loving others. We need to be accepting and love others in order to be truly free. This gospel addresses adultery, which is an obstacle to human sexuality, and how people who commit these types of sins should not be turned away because everyone sins, and there are people who commit sins that are worse and they do not get treated as bad as these sinners do.

ReplyDeleteMany tend to bring people to shame nowadays when it comes to fashion, popularity, and the like. We are blinded by jealousy and selfishness and that is what happened in the gospel. This is actually one of my favorite gospels because it speaks to me in a special way. It helped me realize that we are all sinners and that we have to ask for forgiveness every now and then. We can not bring others to shame and make ourselves look better than the rest simply because he/she may have done something far worse than yourself. We must accept the fact that we all sin and that we should help each other prevent evil to further corrupt our minds and our hearts. It is our duty as sons and daughters of the Almighty Father to learn from our mistakes and the mistakes of others and from their learn to become better people.
We can apply the concept of morality to this particular gospel. I am not speaking of the adulteress in this case entirely, but instead I am speaking of the pharisees who were testing Jesus. What they were doing was the casual "throwing-under-the-bus" kind of thing. This is when people "pass blame onto another for selfish reasons" in simpler terms. As you can see, the pharisees were trying to point out the wrongdoings of a real sinner when in actual fact they are just like her. We are all sinners, one way or another unless we are like Mama Mary which is a very rare case. When we speak of morality, it is basically the willingness to do what is good and avoid what is wrong. We are to follow our morals into deciding what should be done at any given situation in life. In this case, unfortunately, the woman did not follow her conscience. Our conscience is not God speaking to us but rather it is what makes us decide between right from wrong. Yes, our conscience does lead us to the wrong path which means that we can not always rely on our conscience. As I was explaining, morality of the pharisees are not always good. They are nothing compared to Jesus. They were even testing Him if He was truly the Son of God. This shows that they are jealous enough to try to prove that Jesus isn't the Messiah. They chose to not accept the fact that Jesus is the ultimate redeemer of the world. But instead of doing so, they kept on testing Him which made them turn out to be hypocrites. Their unwillingness to be open minded to the truth caused them to disobey their beliefs and conscience above all.
This gospel shows us that a woman who disobeyed one of the 10 commandments had other thoughts as to what truly is human sexuality. With the recent lessons on human sexuality, we as students of a Catholic school now know the true essence of human sexuality as it is a gift from God. The woman most probably thought that sleeping with someone else’s husband is not a crime against human sexuality or God. She may or may not have had a strong conscience enough to prevent herself from committing the act of adultery, but in the end she was forgiven by the Son of God Himself. We can be forgiven if and only if we are truly sorry for the sin and that we are willing to do what it takes to not do the same act again.
Anton Castillo JH
ReplyDeleteEveryone in the world has committed sin wether they accept it or neglect it. When people tell someone that doing a certain sin is bad in God's eyes, they forget to realise that they have also done the same sin. This causes people to feel ashamed and would rather be alone afterwards. That is how the young generation of today feels like. They condemn people for what he or she has done without giving consideration to his or herself. The young will not understand the acts they are doing because they have been blinded by sin itself.
This gospel can be related to a person's conscience. Because a conscience helps a person decide what is right and wrong. However in the gospel it is portrayed that the people condemning the woman are not using their conscience. A conscience is not God's voice but it helps a person make sound choices. The people's choice to condemn the woman was not right at all. They have sinned as much as the woman has in their entire lives.
This gospel shows that obstacles of human sexuality exists. In the gospel the people were ashamed of trying to condemn a sinner, which they are as well, and it made them insecure of who they are. Sin is one of the greatest obstacles to human sexuality.

In the Gospel this week, there was a woman who was brought to Jesus because she was caught committing adultery. I feel like this is actually very applicable to the times now, there are so many people who are unfaithful to their partners and this is what causes them to break up. Being faithful and true to your partner is so important in a relationship.
This can be related to conscience and Human Sexuality. In the bible, one of the commandments is you can not commit adultery, in this Gospel the woman committed a mortal sin, but Jesus forgave her. All the people that wanted to punish her they themselves were sinners as well. I feel like this is true- I mean how can you punish someone who did something wrong when you yourself also do wrong. I find it to be very hypocritical.
I think that this can be related to the obstacles of chastity, it shows how people really are not living "clean". They are doing things that they know to be wrong.

ReplyDeleteOur Greatest Obstacle
We live in a world where one’s every move is not left unnoticed, with that said when we do things wrong we already know that we will be getting criticism. This is something similar to the gospel because the woman is getting criticism for her mistakes, I personally think that we should not judge or think wrongly about a person based on their decisions and mistakes that they have made. Due to the fact that as we grow up we start to become conscious of the opinion that others have towards us.
From the Revalida topics we are told that sin is our greatest obstacle and this is true because we are all put in a world where temptations are all around us and that makes it harder for us not to sin. Adultery may happen because of the large amount prostitution that we can see all around us. Adultery is when a man or a woman who is married has any kind of sexual relation with anyone but their partner while prostitution is the selling of one's body in exchange for money.
This relates to Human Sexuality because we are suppose to be the master of our sexual desires and we are expected to control our urges. We live in a world where sex sells and there are so many places where we can find sexual objects images or videos and this only shows us how we have to always be sure that our urges are being kept and that we do not stray away from the lord and his guidance.

ReplyDelete1. The gospel shows how society can judge a person based on their mistakes and forget that they too are sinners. Just like today people still shame people when they do wrong but they forget that everyone is a sinner and that Jesus forgives all.
2. I can apply True Freedom to this gospel since true freedom is not being free from sin but it is loving God and others. If we truly love others then we would not condemn or judge them.
3. There are many obstacles to human sexuality such as adultery, pre-marital sex, homosexuality and the like. This gospel shows that we should not condemn others because we are all sinners. The gospel tells us to live like Jesus who loves all and does not condemn anyone.
" Challenges in the Society "
ReplyDeleteArmando Reyes JH
This gospel somehow reflects the society nowadays, just like the scribes and pharisees,a lot of people in the community condemn and outcast prostitutes,drug-dealers,corrupt leader because they believe that these certain people are commiting sins and not contributing to the society. This is the challenge we face today, everyone in the society is too judgemental to these certain people without even considering the fact the everyone in the community have surely made a mistake and have committed sin at least one time in their life.I could relate the topic " sin is the greatest obstacle to our freedom " because we live in a world thats i full of tempatations and influences which drags us to do sin like prostitution, sometimes prostitution is not given as a choice sometimes people are forced to do it, and the fact that other people judge prostitutes without even knowing the reason behind why they are doing it, also leads to sin. And this is one of our greatest challenges since everyone in the community is in some ways tempted and forced to do sin which takes away the true freedom given to us by God.One obstacle to human sexuality stated in this gospel is adultery, and in the gospel its states that we should not judge and condemn people who have comitted this even if they have done these certain sins like adultery. So the gospel is basically telling us to learn how to forgive and not condemn anyone who have commited sins against our human sexuality.

ReplyDeleteOur world today
The people in our world today gossip and judge each other without looking at themselves first. In the gospel, Jesus told the people that whoever has not sinned, to be the first to throw the stone and no one did because they knew that each and every one of them has sinned. The same goes for the young people like me. Although it is easy to give in to gossip, we should never look condemn them because we are all sinners and Jesus forgives us because he loves us.
One topic that I can relate from this revalida is the obstacles of human sexuality because adultery is an obstacle to our human sexuality.
Adultery is one of the obstacles to human sexuality and this gospel says that we should not punish them for what they have done because we are all sinners. Instead we should follow Jesus’ footsteps and not condemn them.

God challenges us every day to test us and to see if we can overcome the temptations around us. My understanding from this Gospel I read is our generation is avoiding lustful acts which is defined as a “feel a strong desire for something”. Sexual desire is not the only concern . . . it also touches other factors such as lust for killing, drugs, etc. It is not our position to judge or condemn others. This will test our conscience and actions when it comes to “true freedom in Christ.” Why true freedom? True freedom is trust; having faith in God; setting all sins aside; following God’s way. You have the right to your freedom, however, it must be used wisely, which means you must act in accordance with the 10 commandments and our laws. Most people think that homosexuality is a sin and a disorder; they waste so much time making homosexuality an issue that they become unaware that there are greater sins in life worse than same sex relationships.
There are so many challenges in today's society that we all face. We are tested to see if we can overcome our temptations. True freedom is best described here. True freedom helps us do the right thing and not just do what we want. True freedom means doing whats right even if its against the law. True freedom is not doing anything we want. We should learn to practice our TRUE FREEDOM

ReplyDelete1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
The challenges of this gospel to our society today is that we are so quick to judge and persecute without us even looking at ourselves. We do not have the right to condemn people of we ourselves are sinners.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
When someone speaks in front we cannot judge them without fully understanding the statement. Every person is given a turn to speak and share, therefore we must respect each other.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
Just because someone's sexuality is different from the rest doesnt mean we must condemn them. We cannot accuse others of doing wrong with their sexuality, we must instead respect each other and each other's decisions.
Kirsten Ann Velayo Manese JH
ReplyDelete1. The challenges of this gospel to young people is pre-marital sex. This is so, because a number of young people cannot control their sexual urges and engage in sinful acts. Thus, committing one of the 7 deadly sins which is lust.
2. Key concepts that can be applied from the revalida is not judging others without hearing them out or understanding them. Each one has his or her story that not everyone knows about. Also, your conscience shall help you decide on what you should and should not do.
3. This gospel can address the obstacles to human sexuality by means of the sin adultery. It goes against the 10 commandments and yet God forgave her face-to-face. It shows us how the obstacles to human sexuality exists. Also, sin is one of the greatest obstacles to it.

ReplyDelete"Human Flaws"
I think that from what I have read in this gospel, people are too quick in judging others. This can be seen in today’s society, especially since bullying is a popular issue. We spend too much time judging others and making fun of others, we end up forgetting that we have our flaws and problems as well. God created us to be equal, though not the same, we have certain features that differentiate us from others and that is not always a bad thing, it actually makes us special. With that being said, we always tend to see the bad in people, not minding that we ourselves sin as well. It is part of human nature that we commit mistakes and sin, whether we mean to or not
The topic that would make the most sense to relate this gospel to would undoubtedly be conscience. It also shows that we do not fully control our conscience. We always tend to have problems and more often than not, were an effect of a choice that we had that we have chosen poorly. The people were very quick to judge the woman, but when the words “Let the one among you who is without sin
be the first to throw a stone at her.” Came out of the mouth of Jesus, their conscience was challenged. It got them to think about their actions and got them or “gave” them a second chance to think before they brutally hurt or even kill the woman for her sins.
Human sexuality can be related to this since the church is against it, and therefore many people believe it to be a sin. This then results to situations similar to “racism” where those people “guilty” of being a homosexual are cast aside because of their sins. Although, people tend to forget that we as humans sin as well, and more often that we’d like. Sometimes the sins that we commit are even worse than that “sin” they call as homosexuality. We should not treat others the way we do not want to be treated because we are all equal and deserve a right to say something for ourselves and be someone for ourselves.
Noelle Amba JH
ReplyDelete"Feminist!"
1. Specifically in today’s society, women are treated like objects. People find it easier to torment a woman with harsh words about her sexuality. If a man committed adultery, the punishment would not be as harsh compared to a woman’s, and there is something very wrong about that. ““Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery. Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” In reply, Jesus said: ““Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” This is such a gracious and brilliant way to make people realize that we are all equal, we are all sinners. Jesus was a feminist. He valued every single life, man or woman.
2. The revalida topic I have chosen is sin, which is the greatest obstacle to authentic freedom. We are all called to live a life with Christ however sin and temptation makes this harder for us. Sin can be washed away through repentance and a total change of lifestyle. “Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.” The Lord forgives, and He also commands us to not be tempted by sin. Conscience is also needed to change your life. Throughout this process of change and turning away from sin, we must always do a moral check with the Lord. Sometimes, conscience can be misleading however we must do our best to listen to Him.
3. Yes, adultery is a big obstacle to human sexuality because in the process, you have broken a martial relationship too. This gospel proves that BOTH men and women have the capability to do this due to temptation. In addition, human sexuality is different from the sexual acts themselves. The gospel teaches us to protect our human sexuality by not having sexual relations before marriage, or with someone who you are not married to. Human sexuality is a God-given gift, therefore we should protect and nourish it in the right way.
Rafael Luis R. Salvador J-H
ReplyDeleteJohn's gospel talks about another story relating to the merciful nature of Jesus Christ. In it, we see a woman brought to Him because the people accuse her of committing adultery. Because Jesus knew what was in their minds, He said to them that only the one who claims to have no sin can cast a stone at her. The people, of course, knew that deep down, none of them were sinless; thus, we see yet again how nobody is perfect, and that above all, God has power over us. We then see Jesus unconditionally forgiving the woman, because He sensed her drive to change; therefore Jesus, out of mercy, rid her of her guilt.
What does this suggest about our current society then? It reminds us of the power that forgiveness can really bring. It reminds us that people can change, and it all starts with forgiving someone. When we forgive, we rid a person of their guilt and allow them to move on, just as Jesus did to the woman. Despite its difficulty, we must always remember that above all, we must never bear grudges against others, and forgive them of their sins.
In relation to my Revalida, I can connect this well to Jesus: The Living Example of a Chaste Person. This is message is very much present in the gospel, because we see that He never judges, and that for Him, all that matters of a person is not the riches or their looks, but rather their sincere and clean heart. Jesus, above all, is the ideal example of what a person really must become, and all of us must always live out our lives in His example.
When talking about the obstacles to chastity, this gospel not only relates to us the moral value of forgiveness, but also the value of treating a woman with the right justice, not always with justice according to the law. Just as presented, the elders wanted to punish the woman because it is written in their law. Jesus, on the other hand, decided that the law is not justice, and therefore administered what is right, by forgiving the woman and letting her go. I feel that this attitude should be practiced more in the society, because sometimes, punishments can focus more on demoting a person, and not for teaching him/her the error of their ways. Sometimes, the right thing to do goes above what the law states. Above all, morality wins.
Malate, Aj JH cn 19
ReplyDeleteIn here it is shown that people can be hypocrites. We bring others down and accuse them of the same things we do. People are selfish and only the the wrongs of others.
The gospel can be related to freedom. Freedom is relational therefore we must love others and do good. Harming others is considered a sin and true authentic freedom won't be achieved. Some humans see genders that are not of the norm as unforgivable. Knowing what true freedom is, we must know that God wants us to accept and love others.
Dustin Ampong JH
ReplyDelete1. The gospel shows that no one has the right to condemn others if they are sinner themselves. This is related to todays society because we see many people being judged. We see many people beong punished, killed and even jailed for all the wrong doing shtey have done but they who do it are alos sinner themselves. Some people think they are without sin and good thus treating the “sinners” poorly. We are all sinners thus we cannot codemn others.
2. A concpet i can relate this to is again for me True freedom. This is because people should do the right thing and not condemn otehrs but instead help them. They should follow in Jesus’ footsteps
3. We can relate this to human sexuality because there are many discriminatns agains other sexualies and even thought down of. But we as people have no right to judge for we are all sinners.

ReplyDeleteThe gospel shows the cruelty of people in this world. Here we see this woman who is brought to Jesus for she has sinned, by committing adultery, the crowd asks for his judgement but also brings up that they should stone her. However, Jesus tells the crowd that those who have not sinned may stone this woman...they all went away one by one. Here we learn about our own values. One may have sinned greatly, but do not act like you have not sinned. In today's youth we tend to be hypocritical. We punish those who stand up for what is right but let the ones who have committed something wrong run free. To live in a world where the cruel live freely and those who only speak of justice and truth be put behind bars is a sad sad world. Jesus teaches us to be open and forgiving to anyone even those who have greatly sinned. Never judge too quickly.
A revalida topic you can apply here is conscience. Our conscience guides us in doing what is right and never what is wrong. If we listen to what our conscience has to say we will be able to live correctly. It is our conscience that will help us think twice about what we will say or how we will act. Clearly the people in the gospel do not take in what their conscience has to say. They judged quick without even thinking about what wrong acts they have done.
This is an obstacle to human sexuality for two reasons:
Adultery is introduced in the topic and as we all know it is a great sin. When you marry someone you're supposed to spend the rest of your life with him/her. With that special someone you follow God's order by reproducing more however if you go have sex with another person that's a different story.
In the story we see how the people judged too quickly of the woman's actions without realizing that they have also sinned themselves. In human sexuality there are a lot of sins you can commit such as abortion, use of contraceptives, etc however there are people who have committed worse acts.
Ira Lapuz JH
ReplyDeleteAll humans are known to sin and we shouldn't go pointing our fingers on anyone else. Jesus teaches us how to forgive others and he shows us how he has forgiven us too. We can apply the common misconceptions of our conscience here in the gospel. This revalida topic is applied because the people who brought the prostitute to Jesus wanted to prosecute her right away for her wrongdoings, but what they didn't do is that they didn't sure of why she was doing an immoral act. She could've been forced to be a prostitute and they judged her right away. Their conscience did not think everything else through and they went straight to the consequences.

ReplyDeleteThere is no denying that every human being on earth are sinners, even the ones we love the most. We all sin and it’s normal. The Holy Eucharist was created for us, sinners, to participate and to feel God’s everlasting love and forgiveness. Man or woman, we are still sinners. Jesus did not die for no reason at all. He died because he loves us so much and that he needed to save us from sins. God shows us that the ultimate sacrifice in life is to forgive our sins. It may sound easy, but growing up, you’ll realise that it is one of the most difficult tasks to do in life. Once we forgive our sins and ask God’s forgiveness, then our road to eternal life is greater and that our souls will be cleansed. It is wrong to sin, but it is normal for us to do it. All we need is time and faith, and we can overcome such difficult obstacle.
ReplyDeleteLeandro Miguel F. Ofilada JH
1.) The challenges could be that people judge too harshly without looking at themselves. They try too hard to bring others to shame but in reality, they are the ones trying to hide from it. They don't want to be caught doing the wrong things so they try and put the blame on someone else or use others as distractions. We all need to learn that God knows everything and no matter how hard we try, he will always see the truth.
2.) We can relate the readiness each student has. In that gospel, they weren't ready to face their sins because they were still afraid. But in order to be forgiven, you must be ready to take charge of your sins. Like in the revalida, each student had to prepare for the topics even though they were only going to be asked 1 question. You must be ready for anything life throws.
3.) It could be that God will not judge us even if we have not yet found our true sexuality. He is willing to wait as long as we can take because once we find our true sexuality, that's when we will be truly free.
Frances Roxas JH
ReplyDelete1. The challenges related to this gospel is prostitution and to the stigma given to those who have committed immorality. Many young people suffer damnation from judgemental people. As if there are no more forgiveness from their mistake. If God has forgiven ours sins and even died to save us, who are we not to forgive and worst to judge. The bullying or scandals some received could lead young people to depression and would be detrimental to them.
2. As Jesus died on the cross to redeem us from sin, He calls for true freedom. With this, man is free to choose, decide and act according to God’s teachings. When we are free, God has authorized us to live with cleansed conscience and truth shall set us free.
3. The gospel taught us that we should not condemn sinners. Every man has dignity thus he/she heirs of God’s Kingdom. It doesn’t look for anybody’s sexuality nor judge, as long as one lives in God, one is free.

ReplyDeleteThe gospel talks about how sinning. The scribes and Pharisees once again tried to test Jesus in hopes of trying to reprimand him. In this case, they bring him a woman who committed adultery, and told him that she should be stoned. Jesus however said that whoever did not sin should be the first to throw the stones. Our society is challenged to admit our lives as sinners. We cannot think ourselves as perfect beings because only God is without sin. The gospel would teach society to put God above our own ego. The key concept from the revalida here is sinning but specifically sexuality. We are all sinners but we are called to turn away from this and try to live a life free of sin. The gospel addresses the obstacle to human sexuality in a sense that we turn away from these obstacles, as what Jesus said to the adulterer.

ReplyDeleteIn the gospel, the woman may have sinned, but the pharisees who have accused her of her sin are no different from her. Today, the youth may have become more aggressive towards those who have done wrong. However, they are no better than these people, since they are guilty of other sins as well.
We should follow Jesus' example in the gospel. He did not show any prejudice towards the woman, yet he still showed respect and nurtured his relationship with the woman. Through, he is exercising chastity, which protects love from selfishness.
We may be against homosexuality, but we should discriminate homosexuals for it. Discriminating them is just as a grave sin as what people consider homosexuality is. Hence, discriminating them will not resolve the issue or situation, since it will only worsen the current issue or situation.
