GOSPEL#2 TERM 3 JUNIOR-H

2nd Sunday of Lent Sunday Gospel LK 9:28B-36

Jesus took Peter, John, and James
and went up the mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance
and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus
that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep,
but becoming fully awake,
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus,
“Master, it is good that we are here;
let us make three tents,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
They fell silent and did not at that time
tell anyone what they had seen.

This is a very interesting gospel because Moses and Elijah were already long dead but they appeared to the lord jesus christ on a mountain. I think this gospel has no problems presented, rather this gospel is showing praise to Jesus because this is the transfiguration of christ. His clothes turned blazing white showing that he is pure good and a God. A key concept of the revalida is true freedom. Because this is when Jesus was finally transfigured and when he was blessed by God and his ancestors. This gospel shows us that Jesus is an amazing person and that we need him and his blessing for us to live a true catholic life.

Luke's gospel is about the experience of Peter, James, and John wherein they see and witness Jesus Christ in His true form as the Son of God. It is here that they received more proof of His divinity and holiness in ways that they could not actually believe.

In relation to our present society, we are like the apostles in the sense that there is a side of Jesus which we may not fully understand yet, or that there are still some who may not know about Him, due to the fact that we are preoccupied with our earthly problems and possessions.

Relating this to my Revalida, the gospel is very much rooted in Jesus being the perfect example of a good and chaste person, since it shows that even though Jesus lived among us, He has a divine nature which makes Him the ideal person to emulate, as He is without sin.

In terms of Human Sexuality and its obstacles, the gospel promotes the way to live life, by listening to the word of God and of course, to your inner conscience in deciding between good and evil. It says that Jesus is someone sent by God to touch our hearts; therefore, we listen to Him, and we honor that promise by staying away from things that demoralize human dignity.

In the gospel above, Peter, John and James were blessed to be in the presence to be Jesus, Moses and Elijah at the same time. While Peter was talking, they became afraid when a cloud had approached them and casted a shadow over them. They were afraid of the dark, but then God’s voice appeared and talked to them as He proclaimed Jesus as his chosen Son. In society today, many people, especially the youth, are afraid to turn to God in fear of the unknown. In the gospel, Peter, John and James were afraid of the shadow because they did not know what it was, only to find out it was God. I think that we are often afraid of things that God has planned for us. Since we are still young, we have tendencies to turn away and rebel against things even if deep down inside, we truly believe in it. This includes all things related to family, school, friends and religion.

Applying concepts from the revalida, I can relate how the youth often turns away from God with the obstacles to chastity and human sexuaility. They turn away from God by engaging in prostitution, pornography, and abortion.

In the Gospel, Jesus was talking to Moses and Elijah while Peter, John and James were sleeping. They then woke up and saw the three of them talking, they got scared when they saw the shadow casted by the cloud above them. There was a voice that spoke to them and said the Jesus was his son and that they should follow him. I feel like nowadays not everyone follows what God wants for us. The things that keeps us from him are the sins that we commit and people do things that they know to be wrong. Some people feel like they are ashamed of their faith, like having strong faith in God is not "cool" and not everyone understands their faith. They need to follow God and what he wants us to do so that their faith can be strengthened. Avoid the obstacles that are sins. Another thing that keeps us from him are the obstacles to chastity, because even though we know we should not do something we continue anyway, and this is a sin.

  6. The gospel tells us of God's great power and to show that Jesus is the prophesied messiah. He is the truth, the way, and the life, no one goes to the Father except through him. The young generation today believe that seeing is believing, but that is not what God would say. We must believe in everything that he will tell us to do for he has a plan for us. This gospel can be related to conscience for we need to make the right decisions for us to follow God's plan. It is like we all are the yes man when its comes to God. We must also not neglect our human sexuality for it helps us define who we are. The person that God wants us to be in his eyes and not in our own.

    Purity

The gospel talks about Peter, James and John witnessing Jesus Christ as the Son of God. This just shows us how Jesus is God’s true son and there is no doubt about it. With this gospel we can show all the non believers just how real and true he is.

We can relate this to Jesus being a pure and chaste person, as the son of God he is all knowing, kind, etc. with that we can say just how Jesus will know not to do anything sexual or wrong. A chaste and person is one who is virtuous and pure form sexual acts and that is what is expected of us as Christian followers of Christ.

We can relate this to Human sexuality because as Jesus is a chaste person living in the world we are in we should use him as an example. We live in a world where there is pornography, contraception, prostitution and the like and we should always remember to be like him and carry out our mission as his followers.

    1. The gospel shows that Jesus is truly powerful and that sometimes we are are afraid of His power this is because we are scared of what we don't know. Also, it shows that just like today we are unaware of the true power of Christ.

    2. A topic which I could relate is the 3 dimensions of faith. With knowing and living the 3 dimensions then we can aim to be like Christ who is pure. Of course we cannot be like Him since we are all sinners but we can strive to be Christ-like.

    3. The gospel shows that Jesus is very powerful and this maybe because He is the true example of castus or chaste life. If we follow the life of Christ then we could avoid the obstacles of Human Sexuality.

In my own opinion the greatest challenge that I noticed from the gospel is not having much faith in God a d instead just walking away from it all. Jesus is a good example of being chaste or pure, since he treats everyone equally and He loves everyone and will forgive everyone he did not have to force them into doing something they didn't want. There were two people that stood by Jesus for the time being until some miracle happened which was the cloud where a voice came from it. After this happened the two people vanished or just walked away, if they walk away from god there is a great possibility that they may experience other great sins that can take over them quickly.

Most of the young people like me wouldn't be able to understand the word like we do. They could still be having their minds somewhere else and they wont be able to take in all these information. Sharing the Word of God is a great and moral thing to do, but there's a time and place for anything. We can't just go out and talk about these miracles which are completely new and extraordinary for youth like us, we must give time for everyone to open their minds first. We can apply the topic of orthodoxy and orthopraxis since we have faith in practice. We are meant to share the word according to our faith, but we must always find the right time for it. This gospel can address the obstacles to human sexuality by seeing our inner self and understanding out true sexuality. Knowing the Word of God may give us all the understanding and knowledge we need in order to provide the truth of our own human sexuality.

    "Faithfully"

Jesus Christ presented Himself to Peter, James and John in this gospel, proving that He is the true son of God. They were shocked but in awe. In my personal opinion, our society nowadays is lacking the faith that we should have in our God. He should not have to show Himself to us for us to know that He is there. Since we do not know how truly powerful He is, we need to have fear (healthy) so that we know our place.

Jesus Christ treats us all equally and I think that can be related to being chaste because He should be our role model. In regards to human sexuality, we have to remember that the chaste Lord gave it to us as a gift to reproduce.

WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?

The challenges that we can see in the gospel that can also be seen in society is the fact that we fall asleep in the presence of God. As Christians we must stay awake in the presence of God. We must resist the temptation to ignore God and always have his attention.

    2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.

The key concepts from the revalida that we can apply here is that we must always pay attention. In the revalida even if its not your turn or if your done we must still pay attention and show interest to the speaker.

    3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.

This gospel addresses the obstacles to human sexuality by showing Jesus' transfiguration. When we finally discover our true sexuality we transfigure into the beings we are meant to be. We become our true identity just like what Jesus'.

This gospel tells us about Jesus’ Transfiguration and His real form as the true Son Of God. We are like those disciples in a way due to the fact that we do not know Jesus’ powers entirely. We are in great awe and wonder for the many magnificent things Jesus and Our Father have done for the past years in our Christian history. We can not help but be grateful for all that God has blessed us with. Unfortunately, we tend to take God and His blessings for granted just because we have “other more important things” better to do in life. This is most disappointing and inconsiderate of us. We must find the time to maintain our relationship with God for He deserves so much more from us. Nowadays, we forget to reciprocate and with that comes a price. More is expected for someone who has been given a lot which means that we should appreciate the Lord more than expected.

    While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
The concept of freedom is related to this gospel because the disciples choose to continue to believe in Jesus despite the many people who were against Him.

When it comes to the topic on Human Sexuality, it is related to this gospel in a sense that we must turn to God for the best advice and to find our true self through His love. People are too afraid to accept their true sexuality because it is looked down upon by many and they end up not knowing what to do. As said in the gospel, we are to listen to Jesus. Jesus is there to help us out in the toughest of times. We must ask Him for guidance in order to have a much better life.

In the gospel, Jesus reveals his true nature of being the son of God. However, Peter was in shock of seeing this, yet he became frightened by the shadow of the cloud. Like Peter, the youth nowadays are not ready to comprehend the true nature of God. Despite this, some of the youth are too stubborn to accept God in their lives, and some become too busy with the problems and pleasures of life that they forget about God.

In order for people to accept God into their lives, they must first have and balance the three dimensions of faith, which are doctrine, moral, and worship. Doctrine gives them the correct knowledge and understanding of God so that they wouldn't run into mishap due to misunderstandings. Next, moral allows them to know what is right and what is wrong. Lastly, worship brings them closer to God.

As stated earlier, Jesus revealed his true nature of being the son of God. He did not anything that would damage or change this. He accepted God's plan for him. We should follow Jesus' example by accepting the sexuality God has given us, since this is what God intended. We should not damage our sexuality with things, such as prostitution, porn, contraceptives, and abortion, nor change it to set our preference.

    1. The challenges of young people today is fear when relating to this gospel. This is just like when Peter,Moses and Elijah got frightened by the cloud. It is fear of the unknown in particular, since the present day youth stray away from anything unfamiliar to them.

2.Key concepts from the revalida topics that can be applied here is paying attention when it is not your turn to speak. Also, we can relate it to Chastity since Jesus is a sole example of how humans should live like.

    3. When it comes to Human sexuality, it can be addressed by following your conscience which is apart of our whole being. We must determine what is right from wrong and take our stand. We are blessed to have been given the freedom to choose.

The challenges in the society that is relatable to the gospel is that when the presence of the lord comes upon us, we are not there and not ready to accept it since most of the time we are to preoccupied with the things in our life.People nowadays lack faith in the lord, we must remember that at times when we are experiencing problems we must have a strong faith that God will be there to help us and we must believe that He will always be there even if He doesnt give a hint of His presence, we must always stay strong and have complete trust and Faith on our God.

The concepts in the revalida relatable to this gospel is the three dimensions of faith because even if we have the right doctrine and morals, if we do not have complete trust and fath on our God these two factors won't even matter.Because in order to follow in the footsteps of the Lord we must first learn how to trust, have faith, and follow Him.

The gospel addresses the obstacles to our himan sexuality because as seen in the gospel it is evident that God's powers have no limits and that He will use his powers to the extent to help, provide, and support His creations which includes us.This shows how God is the perfect example of a living castus since everything about God is perfect in every way, and even if we won't be able to reach and be as perfect as God, we must always strive to be at least close to what God is.

The only challenge that comes from today’s Gospel is when people are given the choice to not yet understand something. God works in mysterious ways, no one can truly understand what or why he does something, and yet it all works out in the end. It is cases like the Gospel where God challenges us to be patient with his message and to wait for the truth to come of it.

Christian morality and Jesus as a whole in understanding come to mind as it defines how we are supposed to understand Jesus’ message. It is up to us as Christians to wait and be patient for God’s plan to finally catch up to us.

This Gospel directly involves the waiting and chastity part of sexuality, while God has a plan, it is up to us to act properly until the true good will come into our lives. The waiting before marriage, the becoming chaste all boils down to who we are as human beings.

    1. “While he was praying his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white.” This was the transfiguration of Christ, and how his chosen disciples witnessed His glory. Here’s the thing: Jesus always wants to share His victories with us! He commands us and He tells us great messages that can really aid our lives. However, today’s society has developed a thinking wherein we don’t need help or we don’t need to listen to other people. This is can then be reflected in our spiritual lives wherein we tend to not listen to the Lord or we turn away from Him. Sometimes, we do not understand what God is telling us or we simply don’t have the time to listen because we are blinded or deafened by earthly matters.
    2. One topic I can relate to a revalida topic is freedom. Freedom isn’t just doing whatever you want. Instead, the bible states that true freedom is through loving others, following Christ and his commands. Additionally, the commandments don’t restrict us from doing things, rather it protects us from evil thinking or doing.
    3. As I have said, the commandments keep us from evil thinking and doing. This gospel can be related to the obstacles of human sexuality because we need to listen to Christ and His commandments in order to turn from sin. Then Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.” As stated in previous lessons, obstacles such as pre marital sex, prostitution, and etc are obstacles to human sexuality. God is a forgiving father, and He is also a father who guides us into a significant and fulfilling life. He invites us to listen to Him because He constantly promises us amazing rewards and gifts, gifts that have much greater value than earthly treasures/pleasures. “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”

Jesus as a perfect example of a castus. He is pure and chaste so giving ourselves to him without doubt will strengthen our faith. We should not be afarid and have faith in Jesus.
    3.  HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY. Since Jesus is a castus, we must follow his examples and do what's good for oursleves and for others. We should learn to not he afraid and not be afraid of bad outcomes and not let temptation or earthly things destroy our faith.

    1. The gospel shows how powerful Jesus is and that he is truly the son of God. It can be related to challenges to young people like myself becuase people nowadays often foret about the lord. Forget how truly powerful he can be and can greatly impact on our lives. Basically we people forget him sometimes and other stuff because they think that the other stuff will and can lead you to a better path but God is the way.
    2. A key concept i can relate is Orthodoxy and Orthopraxis because we need this 2 to do faith. The correct undestanding and correct practice of faith can truly bring us closer to God and see more evidently what he has done for us.
    3. It can address the obastaclse to human sexuality, 1 because Jesus is Pure and we must follow him and pure our selves. Jesus is the greatest example of pure. 2 we people should know our place and must think equally of each other. None is higher than us but God so we must respect other sexualities and overcome these obstacles

In this gospel, I think it shows that there things we are yet to discover about Jesus. We are afraid of this fact and that we are unaware of what might happen next. In relation to the revalida, I think it best describes the topic that Jesus is perfect example of a good and chaste person, since it shows that even though Jesus lived among us, He has a divine nature which makes him the best person to follow, as he is without sin, which then relates to human sexuality. We must follow his example in living a chaste life and not engage in pre-marital sex and other immoral acts.

In this gospel, it revolves around the experience of Peter, James, and John. Their experience being: witnessing Jesus Christ. Now Jesus shows up in dazzling white to me this represents how he is just like the light that will guide us through the dark. However, in today's generation we doubt the existence of God. In my opinion, i only think we doubt his existence because we block him out of our life. If we are to let God in and be more open of what he has to say we can expect good and happiness. Relating this to the revalida topic “Jesus as a living castus” a castus is something that's morally pure and chaste. Also in the gospel Jesus speaks and as we all know Jesus is free from anything impure and to me if we listen to what he has to say we will grow properly as children of God.

This gospel teaches us different lessons. One, it shows that our faith in God can deteriorate if we do not pray with love and meaning. Two, God knows what we do everyday. Every sin we commit is equal to God being in pain. Having strong faith with God and praying to him everyday can lead us to heaven. The key concept, from the revalida topics, that I want to focus on is that human sexuality is a gift from God. We are servants of God. Creating us was one of his greatest gifts. If we do not use his creation of us in a good manner, then it is a waste. God created us because he loves us. The least we can do is pray to him and praise him with full faith.

There are times in life that we tend to doubt God. We get mad at him for not being able to get what we want the moment we want it. A lot of people in our society has been losing faith in God because of the obstacles they face every day like ISIS. In my opinion we should just trust in him. We might not get what we want now but that’s because God is preparing us for something better in the future. This gospel has proven to us that Jesus Christ is the son of God. He is all powerful and kind just like God. Jesus Christ has also shown us true freedom. He loved God and the people around him with all his heart. Even though people doubted him or mocked Him, He still loved them. I believe that human sexuality is a gift that God has given us. We should use this to relate to God and others.

1.) I think that this gospel just shows how people are afraid of power. Power can be a truly terrifying thing and this can easily be what hinders the people of their feelings

2.) We must be enlightened and not be afraid of anything because no matter what happens, it happens for a reason. In revalida, we must be prepared to answer any question asked of us because we are being tested. Same with the gospel. They must be ready for anything Jesus asks of them to show their true faith.

3.) This shows that in order to be in perfect alignment, we must be prepared and must stay away from temptation. They were judging the power of Jesus. They were being tempted by the devil to stray from God. Same with our sexuality. The world used to identify it as "weird" or "abnormal" to be different. People get judged for their life choices before and sometimes, even today.

The particular challegne that society faces is blind faith. Most of us people in society believes only when they see, or when problem arises. This practice should be stopped. Society needs to practice to believe even though if our God is invisible to the naked eye. Just like how the apostles felt at the time, there is much that we are yet to understand of Jesus. In the revalida, the topic that is most applied here is Jesus being the perfect example of a good and chaste person. This is because Jesus, prior to his passion, already knew of his destiny, yet he did it anyway. He was not scared, but out of love, he accepted his destiny. This gospel addresses the obstacles in human sexuality in a way that in becoming a more chaste person, we are able to understand more the true way of living life, just as Jesus did

    1. The Gospel talks about the truth. It is very hard for young people to accept truth based on our faith. There is always feelings of doubtfulness. Social media has adulterated their pure minds with all the immoralities exposed to them with just a “click”. Without proper guidance from parents, the young people go astray. The church would want to reach out to all of us, but they are “aloofs” to trust to our Greatest Providence, Jesus Christ.

    2. We are all followers of Christ. This is true freedom because God didn’t reprimand anyone to choose where and when to follow Him. He made us all with intelligence and heart so whatever we do against other’s belief or simply flowing without thinking and deciphering the truth - freedom won’t be felt because true freedom comes from God and flows into our whole being.

    3. That against all odds/confusion, we should seek first God’s Kingdom. Homos, Sinners, Lesbians are God’s creation and open to be God’s followers or servants. We should only ask forgiveness, never do it again and God’s promises shall pour through His blessings that will set us free.
