GOSPEL#2 TERM 3 JUNIOR-I

2nd Sunday of Lent Sunday Gospel LK 9:28B-36

Jesus took Peter, John, and James
and went up the mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance
and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus
that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep,
but becoming fully awake,
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus,
“Master, it is good that we are here;
let us make three tents,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
They fell silent and did not at that time
tell anyone what they had seen.

We should live our life believing that God exists and only through this process may we live eternally with him in heaven. We shouldn’t let distractions hinder our relationship with God since they plan to lead us away from him. We should always have faith in him since he would be the one to save us in times of distress. This can be rated to problems with homosexuality by teaching homosexuals to believe in god since he is our father and saviour.

This gospel talks about the transfiguration of Jesus and talks and a particular challenge that we youth can relate to is the feelings of Peter during this. He, along with John and James love God and would follow Jesus to do anything however when they see the actual glory of God and the blessing of God, they are frightened for they are not ready, they are not yet ready to be transfigured by the Holy Spirit. This is like us, for we want to follow God, however we are scared of His actual doings, his miraculous works, and we do not understand what it means. We are scared to follow Him because we do not understand it, we can never understand His power because it is so great and so enormous that no one can comprehend.
The concepts of true freedom and human sexuality are hard to comprehend by us youth. God has given us freedom to do whatever we want, yet we should still live under His own set of rules to find true freedom in Him. This concept is confusing for it just allows you to wonder “How am I free if I can’t do what I want?” You can do what you want but what you want should live under a certain set of morals which are of God’s. Along with this is human sexuality, we think it is just us loving each other and having sex, but it is our identity and our love for one another. If we abuse our sexuality it can cause us to not love one another and find love through sex and love. These are confusing and we may be scared of what is expected of us but we just must trust in God.

There are many people who lack faith and are not a follower of God. This is the problem that is common to a lot of people today. We tend to just go on with our lives without thanking God each day for what he has given us. Some people need to learn how to trust him because he will never lead us to harm. The people in the gospel were silent because they chose to believe that they did not witness anything because maybe they were ashamed or simply did not want to follow him. Even though he gave us freedom, human sexuality, and all other gifts, we choose to ignore or use it for the wrong way, for example we use our freedom to do sin and we use human sexuality for our self. Now this gospel can help us reflect on what we need to learn and work on as a human being. We now know not to commit this mistake and put our faith on God.

In the gospel presented, we see that God is capable of great good. In fact, He is the Supreme Being that holds truth in His arms. The Revalida focuses on the knowledge we have gained throughout the terms in CL. Therefore, we can acknowledge the fact that the gospel can be linked to the three pillars of faith and most importantly to the lesson on chastity and conscience. All these topics are integrated into the gospel through one method. Through God, through Him, we are gathered as children by the river intent to listen to His word and wisdom. We should return to Him by destroying the obstacles that hinder us from Him. We should close our ears to the overwhelming temptation of the world. We should jump over every hurdle we may encounter through faith we will stand together. Through Faith, we will be able to be with the man on the hill with white robes and one day, we will encounter paradise as we pray with Him on the Valley of Eternal Sunshine.

In the gospel, it says that the youth wants to follow God but are scared of committing because they don't fully understand God's power and what will happen to them. We should continue to hang on to God and strengthen our faith in Him not paying attention to the obstacles and temptations that might come our way. I can relate the gospel to freedom because in order for us to be truly free, we must let go of everything, lift ourselves up to Him, and follow His ways. This gospel can address the obstacles to human sexuality in a way that our sexuality is a gift from God but we must live under a set of morals and not abuse the freedom given to us.

This gospel is all about the transfiguration of Jesus, and the challenges which face his followers. The challenge of this gospel is to be able to accept Jesus fully and readily. In today’s society, people go around doing bad stuff, and do not think of the fact that Jesus may appear anytime, anywhere and may catch us off-guard, doing sin. When this happens, we feel guilty and ashamed, and scared because we know we are doing wrong, and yet we want to follow God’s path. Our revalida showed that true freedom is not just living and doing what we want, but doing what we want, while thinking of God’s will. By doing this, we are sure to always be ready for God, because we are always doing good. Connected to this, the gospel addresses the obstacle to human sexuality, because we are free to choose what our sexuality is. So we always have to think when choosing our sexuality, that God’s will is to be part of our life, no matter what sexuality we choose. In terms of the act itself, we should know that sex, is only reserved for the one we love, so by always being ready for that love to appear in front of us, we are prepared to face God no matter what.

Some of the people these days do not have faith in God and we tend to forget about Him. He is the reason we are still living and our lives continue on today. We should learn how to trust Him since He wouldnt want to harm us the first place. The people in the Gospel were silent because they were either scared or ashamed of God himself, and when they followed they rejoiced. Just like the people we should trust in God so that He will lead us to true happiness

  8. We should believe God because he would lead us to the right path and he wont let us down. We should treat him right so he would treat us right also. Some
People need to know that God sacrificed for us and we should give a reward by believing to him. We should have a strong faith to God cos sometimes we cant solve our problems anymore and God is the only answer for all our problems. Lets follow God and trust him.

Most of us ignore the blessings given to us, even if we appreciate at the moment, soon we will still think it's not enough. Some people forget to pray for everything they have been receiving. All of us are committing sin and yet, Jesus still forgives us. All of the challenges we're facing are given to us so that we can learn from them. God doesn't make us experience these hard challenges if we can't handle it. In the case of human sexuality, people are scared to admit their real sexuality because of the judgements they'll receive from other people. This is natural and we should learn to love every single part of ourselves because God made us differently in his image and likeness. We all have gifts or talents and we are all unique. We should embrace and respect each other. We should not forget to pray and thank God for everything He has given us. Without him, we wouldn't be here.

This Gospel is all about the transfiguration of Jesus. According to the gospel, the voice that spoke to Peter, John, and James said, "This is my chosen Son. Listen to Him." God said to listen to Him, but what's happening in society right now? Despite knowing that God is everything that we need, we still resort to vices just to satisfy ourselves. When He tells us not to use His name in vain, we still do it. When He tells us not to worship other gods, we still do. When He invites us to celebrate His day with Him, we turn it down. When He tells us to respect our parents, we continually disrespect them and so on.This happens especially when the concept of responsible freedom comes here. The meaning of freedom as Christianity defines it is to do good and avoid evil. It's easy to say, but hard to do. In fact, it's a challenge for society to do it, for there are many temptations all around us which affect how we live our daily lives. It's a good thing that we were given freewill to exercise our freedom, but is our expression limiting others of their own freedom? That's why it is important to exercise this, and we can start it through our human sexuality. After all, sexuality is the reason why we learned to love and form different relationships. With our responsible freedom, we can use it to unite everyone through our sexualities and not for malice.

The challenges that the Gospel presents in today's world is the fact that people do not believe in God anymore. Even if he did more than we can ever imagine, people still doubt his presence. And it confuses me. He has given us countless blessings and it baffles me because he still forgives us. We should never doubt God for he is always right. This gospel can address the obstacles to human sexuality because we abuse the freedom that God has given us by committing sin and doing the wrong things. We should not be doing this for this is wrong and we should learn to follow God and be a follower.

  13. To God be the Glory

    Anya Villanueva J-I CN:39

This gospel talks about the Transfiguration of Jesus. Transfiguration is such a big word that many people may not understand. Basically, transfiguration talks of change or of transformation in a sense. Jesus' transfiguration showed His glory to Peter, James and John. As Jesus' current followers we should strive to see His glory as well. It is said in the gospel, "This is my chosen Son. Listen to Him." In order to see God's greater glory, we must listen to Him through prayer. Most of the time when we pray, it's only us talking to God. We forget that it's a two way conversation. When we pray, we must let God speak to us. We need to quiet down, be still and let Him speak to us in the silence of our hearts. When we do this, when we listen to God and really hear Him, then will we see His greater glory. Then will we see how amazing He is and how deep and wide His love for us is. In turn, when we see His greater glory, we are also transformed. We are made new in His loving grace and in knowing Him. This gospel challenges us youth to LISTEN to God and to really seek Him in the midst of this changing world. There are so many obstacles to growing in chastity and to truly being Christ-like, but when we listen to God, when we seek Him in the silence, we will become more and more like Him. We will transform when we see His greatness and amazing glory. That's what the transfiguration is about. It doesn't just celebrate Jesus' transfiguration, it's encouraging us to transform as well through Him.

  14. This gospel talks about the Transfiguration. I believe this event was a shape shifting event for man-kind. Since both Elijah and Moses came to "confirm" that Jesus is truly our messiah and our savior. He is the one that will sav us from sin, the "curse" that we could not take away until He died on the cross for us. So for this event, it actually strengthens our belief, and should make us practice a life more Christ-like for the fact that we know that everything is true. As true as the freedom given to us.

The gospel is about Jesus’ transfiguration, and how He took Peter, John, and James up a mountain to pray. The challenges present in the gospel today that can be seen among the youth is seen in Peter’s emotions during this. As seen in the gospel, Peter, John, and James were persistent and faithful towards God. They were, indeed, ready to serve Him with the best of their strengths and abilities. However, when a cloud came and cast a shadow over them, they were frightened. The cloud was actually a sign of God’s great presence, telling them that they should listen to Jesus and do as He says. After this, the three remained silent and did not tell anyone what they had seen. This can be applied to the youth at present because currently, I believe that the youth is afraid to truly showcase their strong faith in God to others. The youth is truly willing to do as God says, however, we often get confused and afraid to share this faith and willingness — we remain silent as God’s grace is yearning to be acknowledged. This then causes us to stop following Him, not only because we do not understand His power, but because His all-knowingness and strength overwhelms us. Concepts from the Revalida that can be applied to this gospel are those relating to freedom and to our conscience. We are given the true freedom by Jesus to keep by His commandments, to love, and to do as He says. Thus, we must use this freedom to express our faith and love to Jesus. We must not be frightened and remain silent like Peter, James, and John did, but rather we must share this tremendous faith and spread the Good News. This gospel can somehow be related to obstacles to chastity and human sexuality in such a way that the said topic is also a factor as to why we remain silent and we become frightened of God. Peter, James, and John were willing to do anything for Jesus, however, they were afraid when they felt God’s enormous presence. This also applies to the people who have tremendous faith but have gave in to the temptations of the obstacles to chastity. When they come face to face with God, they too will feel frightened and will fear Him, for they have sinned and abused their freedom.

In today's society this reflects to us the youth of lacking in faith and commitment towards the teachings of Jesus which are to be followed by us. This issue is relatable to the tabula rasa or blank slate, this is relatable because this represents our minds which are to be filled with the knowledge this world has to offer. Sometimes we are filled with to many earthly things that we have no space for God. Which is why we have to empty ourselves to be filled with his teachings. Since we are distracted from God the distractions come in many forms and sex and adultery is one of them and they must be fought with our understanding on the righteousness and faithful mindset.

  17. Due to the impact of today's society, people start to question the faith they have in God. I'm sure that at least once in our lives, we have started asking ourselves, where is God? Is he there? Does he even listen to my prayers? As the number of people lacking of faith start to increase, there is still a small amount of people who still believe in God. Every single one of them counts because there is still a chance for their faith to spread around them starting with the youth because we all know that they are more exposed to social media and their environment which may serve as a way to spread the news

The challenge of the Gospel in the youth nowadays is that we do not show and practice our faith, and we do not accept the presence of Jesus in our lives. Most teenagers do not think first before doing something, and immediately regret it when they suffer the consequences. They fail to ask themselves “Will God be proud of me doing this?” One Revalida topic that is related to this is “True Freedom.” Freedom is not doing what we want, but doing the right thing. These are acts that are pleasing to God’s eyes. When we do acts that are pleasing to His eyes, we will be able to live a Christian life because we are able to find His path. This is also related to human sexuality because if we abuse it too much, our perceptions on it might change. For example, we may find love through sex. A guy courts a girl because he loves her, not because he wants to have sex with her. I personally think that this lowers down the dignity of the man or woman. They treat sex like a commodity or tool, which is an immoral thing to do.

There are many obstacles that distract a person from following God. Examples of these are the everyday temptations that we encounter, mostly from the influence of society. When we let this affect us, we grow further and further apart from God, and if this keeps happening, our relationship with God will soon be destroyed. As we grow older, our sexual desires start to develop, and this is one of the most common challenges that almost every human being faces. This is also one of the key concepts from our revalida that often applies to our daily life. This gospel can address the obstacles by giving people the faith they need to put in God. By doing this, they can strengthen their relationship with God.

The gospel is about the Transfiguration of Christ and where God proclaims to James, Peter, and John of Christ’s true identity. In today’s society, people tend to lose faith or become wary of God’s existence because we aren’t able to comprehend His power. We tend to forget that there is someone up there who loves us completely and unconditionally despite our flaws. In the revalida, we learned that God gave us the gift of freedom. He gave us the choice to believe in Him or not. No matter what we chose, He would still love us unconditionally, no matter what we chose to do.

This gospel tells the story of the Transfiguration of Christ. Peter, John, and James are known to be few of the most faithful and believers in Christ and God, even if they never saw God in person. Their faith was strong and unyielding, despite the many people who tried to convince them to forget their beliefs. In reward for their strong faith, they were given to witness the Transfiguration. Despite being quite frightened at first, they felt honored and blessed to be a part of that event. This is some kind of reminder that if we keep our faith in the Lord strong, we too will be able to experience magnificent things, and in the future, we will be able to see God as well.

Today, many people lack faith. Despite all of the distractions and temptations in front of us, we should be able to know from right and wrong. This is where conscience comes in. This gospel can be applied to conscience since we are given the free will and judgement to determine from right and wrong. Although, this may be a hindrance for us to attain our true freedom. Some people may be blinded and may choose wrong. So now, we should already practice doing the right thing so it would become second nature for us.

Most people live by the saying, "to see is to believe." However, when can we truly say that someone believes Jesus? When can we say, with conviction, that God is real...until we have actually seen Him? The thing is: we can't. That's the challenge presented in this gospel--can put our faith and trust into something (or someone) that we have only heard of through stories written thousands of years ago? In my opinion, the gospel tells us that, maybe, we haven't seen God yet because we simply aren't ready. Sin, as the greatest obstacle to true freedom, tempts us and challenges us to stop believing in the Lord. The purpose of this gospel was to remind us of our faith; God is here. He knows that you believe in him, and for that, He'll bless you with more than you will ever deserve, in Heaven. Personally, this gospel scares me because I know that I feel as detached as some of the disciples do. Sometimes, I don't know if I should even continue to believe in God. But then, I am reminded of His presence and sacrifice--and I am assured that I love and believe in Him with my whole being.

Seeing is believing, but there is a problem when one is afraid to see the truth. It is ideal to be thinking that god exists or acknowledge him, not only that but it is also proper to act according to what is right because Jesus is the ideal model for doing what is right, because of his sacrifices and his deeds etc. This sort of shows the faith or the lack their of that we have nowadays, but also not acting in God's likeness since one could easily see God in a person if he/she does what is in accordance to the commandments and simply do good.

    1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
In today's society, there are many religions. Also, people like me tend to question our faith in God or if He exists. So applying the Gospel, it states that God said that we should follow Jesus. Applying it in today's context, a lot of us may doubt the existence of Jesus therefore the less likely for people like me to follow what the Father has said.

    2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
Best topics would be the different philosophies of man. Namely, oriental, hendonism, nihilistic, atheistic, and Maslow's theory. These different philosophies somehow contradict the action and faith to believe in our God. So, these kinds of philosophies will not follow Jesus as stated in the Gospel. Although some of these philosophies are similar to what is described in the gospel (to believe in someone or something as a basis of our faith), it's really different. For example, the oriental view. These people may have strong faith but it's focused on another God/s.

    3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
This may be an obstacle to human sexuality because if we don't follow God's will, we will definitely violate His laws. Therefore, making everything an obstacle. What is order and peace in a group of people (like us Catholics) without rules and commandments to follow? We will be in chaos.

  26. Jaime Dungo Junior I

This gospel’s challenge is the fact that most of the people in this world need proof to “believe” or have “faith” in God, but this gospel shows us that everyone in this world can be proof of God, as everyone is Gods son, and that we should listen to everyone in order to respect God Himself. The topic that can be related to this gospel is “True Freedom” wherein true freedom cannot be attained by simply doing “whatever we want,” but, by doing Gods will and the will of others, as long as the will does not affect the freedom of others. This gospel can be related to an obstacle of human sexuality, because sometimes we do not follow the will of the Lord, which is to save our purity until our eventual marriage.

We should believe that God exists and the youth nowadays doubt that there is a God and also because there is a lot of religions. They also dont pray and go to church which misleads them to do bad things. This is related to the different philosophies of man which certain people have different beliefs with religion. This has been an obstacle for human sexuality because some doesnt follow God's law. We should always have faith and believe in God so that there will be no problem between everyone.

This gospel shows the faith of one person towards God. The youth today are blinded by their material belongings and ignores the fact that there is a God. Therefore, they are losing their faith and thus becoming blind. We should keep our faith strong. And that we should follow God no matter what. This shows our freedom, our true freedom. Doing God's will and following it, then we will become free. This also in turn shows how to overcome the obstacles of human sexuality. Follow God and you would not be troubled about your sexuality.

In the gospel presented, we see that Peter, John, and James were asleep. A lot of the youth today are spiritually asleep. When someone is asleep, he/she misses a lot of things. Whenever we are spiritually asleep we miss all of God's glory. This gospel helps us to understand what God wants us to do. This gospel can be related to an obstacle of human sexuality, since sometimes we do not follow the will of the lord. With the God's guidance, we can overcome this problem

In todays society, people question Jesus' existence and this gospel tells us that He is in fact, real and we should always follow Him. One of the revalida topics that can be related here, is true freedom and this is following God's will. In addition, we can address the obstacles of homosexuality by following what He says. Pray.
