5th Sunday of Lent March 13 Sunday Gospel JN 8:1-11
Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
But early in the morning he arrived again in the temple area,
and all the people started coming to him,
and he sat down and taught them.
Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman
who had been caught in adultery
and made her stand in the middle.
They said to him,
“Teacher, this woman was caught
in the very act of committing adultery.
Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women.
So what do you say?”
They said this to test him,
so that they could have some charge to bring against him.
Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with his finger.
But when they continued asking him,
he straightened up and said to them,
“Let the one among you who is without sin
be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Again he bent down and wrote on the ground.
And in response, they went away one by one,
beginning with the elders.
So he was left alone with the woman before him.
Then Jesus straightened up and said to her,
“Woman, where are they?
Has no one condemned you?”
She replied, “No one, sir.”
Then Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you.
Go, and from now on do not sin any more.”

ReplyDelete1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
-The challenges of this gospel that are present in today's society is that everyone commits sin. They just persecute others who do worse sins than them in order to feel better about committing sin. When Jesus said that only the one who hasn't committed sin may throw a stone at her, and that is when everyone left. This just shows us that people are aware that they commit sin, but they choose to persecute those who commit acts against sexuality or acts that are immorally wrong.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
-Concepts about conscience and human sexuality. In the gospel, the people who persecuted the woman committing adultery already knew that they were committing sin, yet they still do it. Conscience guides us into doing what is good, so they mustn't do such immoral things. The woman, however, applies to human sexuality. We all know that committing adultery should not be done, yet the woman chose to do it.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
-Everyone should be aware of the obstacles to human sexuality, such as adultery. Through reading this gospel, we know that adultery is such a horrible act, so we should not do it. Just because Jesus forgives you every time you commit sin, doesn't mean you should always commit it. We should learn from our actions, become better people and live a Christian life.

ReplyDelete1. In the gospel, the crowd slowly went away because of the condition Jesus put on them if they were to throw stones at her: the one who throws a stone at her must be one who has no sin, which was none of the people. You can see repeats of this situation in society now, most being hypocrites targeting those who are weak and shaming them for their mistakes, even though they make the same mistakes as well. They do this because they think it raises their status as a 'good Samaritan', but yet refuse to mend the mistakes they had made previously.
2. The Key Concepts that I can apply to this gospel is Freedom, Conscience, and Christian Morality. By ridiculing others, they had committed sin and have stained the God-given freedom we all possess; as a Christian, I will do everything it takes to protect my freedom, which is by not committing sin. By knowing that they themselves are at fault but still proceed in doing it, going against their conscience which pestered them that what they're doing is morally wrong. And lastly, even though they had been sinful and discriminated the woman, they're Christian Morality stayed true in the end. They knew enough that they should not throw stones since they all have committed sin, still following His law and protecting their Christian Morality.
3. This can address human sexuality by not judging those around you for the actions they make. In today's society, we are all quick to judge people for actions they make, simply because we think it is wrong in our eyes. By understanding this gospel, we can be more cautious when we judge people for their actions, because we may have done something similar in the past as well.

ReplyDelete1. The challenges of this gospel in today’s society is the turning of love into lust which leads to the act of adultery. People tend to use sex for pleasure nowadays without having real meaning to it. People should learn the true purpose of sex and not just use it for pleasure since it is meant for procreation.
2. The key concepts that can be related to this is Human Sexuality. Due to the blindness of people towards the real meaning of human sexuality, adultery is committed. They are not aware the sex should only be done if true love occurs. You only have sex when you are married to the person you love. In order to marry someone, you must truly love that person.
3. One of the obstacles to chastity is Adultery since it showcases a persons loss of commitment or love to your partner in life. Additionally, it disrespects the sacrament of Matrimony, you said a vow in the church. Due to this, we are not able to fulfil out duties as God’s children and we are not able to practice the true act and meaning of love.

ReplyDelete1. In the gospel, Jesus said, “Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” When He said this, the crowd ended up leaving one by one. Everyone in this world is a sinner. Therefore, we shouldn’t judge others for the mistakes that they make because we too commit mistakes. The challenges of this gospel we can relate to in today’s society is people’s hypocrisy towards sin.
2. The key concepts from the Revalida topics that I can apply here are human sexuality and consciousness. When the woman was said to be caught committing adultery, human sexuality is applied here since having sexual intercourse is wrong. Consciousness is applied in this gospel when the people went away because felt guilty for judging the woman of her sins.
3. This gospel addresses the obstacles to human sexuality when the woman committed adultery and people persecuted her. Moreover, it also disrespects the sacrament of Matrimony and the Commandments. Although Jesus forgave her, what she did was still wrong and goes against what God meant for human sexuality to be.
1. This day and age people never forgive and normally resort to taking revenge. We also see others as below us and we constantly judge others as if we are the better men, but we are all sinners who will face judgement and are equal in the Lord's eyes.
ReplyDelete2. The revalida topic that relate to freedom and human sexuallity. The woman committed adultary ,but despite that she had the right to live ans was forgiven by our Lord.
3. We see that even that time sexual immorality was rampant but despite that we can be forgiven and there is always a way back to the Lord.
GUIDE QUESTIONS IN WRITING THE GOSPEL REFLECTION:
ReplyDelete1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
- Young people nowadays can not tell what is right from what is wrong. They sin and can't tell anymore whether or not they have done something bad. This can be attributed to the ever growing society we live in wherein we are given the free will to do anything we want, but because of that, we end up doing bad things. We are given too much freedom that we misuse it. God easily forgives but we must always remember that we can never take Gods compassion for granted.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
- In the revalida topics, a lot of the questions have something to do with human sexuality. The revalida allowed us to distinguish what is against Gods commands. It allowed us to apply what we have learned in everyday situations that would maybe present itself in the future. In the Gospel, God reminded her to never sin again. Almost the same way that the revalida allowed us to distinguish what is right from wrong.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
- We must always value the sexuality that God has given us. We must remember that God gave us this to give us the responsibility to creat offspring. But with that being said, this must be done in a responsible manner. They must be truly in love with their partner and to make sure that it is truly love that is driving that relationship and not just sexual desire.

ReplyDeleteGUIDE QUESTIONS IN WRITING THE GOSPEL REFLECTION:
1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
> Challenges of this gospel that is present in today's society, particularly to the young people, are how we go through a lot of temptations that end up making us sin. There are times where we are tempted to cheat, lie, or simply do bad things. This is related to the challenge in the gospel with how the girl who committed adultery was tempted and got persuaded to do so like how there are times as well that we get persuaded by temptation. At the end of the day, Jesus always forgives us and what we can do in return, for his all so living mercy, is to try our very best to not sin ever again.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
> A key concept from the Revalida topics that I'd want to apply here is our true Christian Moral Freedom. We all know that we have the freedom to do whatever we want. But what stops us or limits us is our moral, to be specific, our Christian Moral. Now, the girl in the gospel and the youth go through temptations that lead us to sin but at the end of the day it is down to our decision. It is down to what we think is correct to do or not. We should always apply what we believe in, as Christians, in every decision we make so that our choices will make our Heavenly Father happy.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
> There could be points in our life where we are very weak to say no to temptation. There are points in our life where we let it happen to us because we simply do not know what to do. That obstacle being said, it can relate to human sexuality but how we can be weak. How sometimes we may allow people to do whatever they want with us. It is very important to keep strong from everyday temptation and to things that may disrespect our human sexuality.
1.one of the challenges we face is we are human and susceptible to sin and temptation just like in this particular passage.
ReplyDelete2.one key concept we can apply is conscience since the woman clearly wasn't aware of her actions since we all know committing adultery is a sin.
3.We must never take for granted our sexuality since it is a gift from God Himself we must not give in to temptation and abuse it.

1. The challenges that are evident in this gospel are basically the temptations in our surroundings that influence us to think badly of other people and may lead us to judge them quickly. Many individuals nowadays judge people right away for the mistakes they have committed without knowing their intentions - and most of all, without learning how to forgive. Jesus’ last words in this gospel were “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on do not sin any more.” This statement of his simply means that he has easily forgiven the sinner; and as children of God, we must learn how to follow the footsteps of Christ and learn how to forgive others for their mistakes and therefore help them learn from it and avoid committing sin.
2. The key concepts from the revalida topics that can be best applied are basically most of the topics that we have learnt throughout this school year. First, we should have faith in ourselves that we learn from our mistakes and retain our faith in the Lord. Despite the many mistakes that we would commit, we should remember that we are perfect, and we have the ontological dignity amongst ourselves that prove that we are all human. Second, we should not let our bad conscience take over our systems because this may further lead us causing sin. Instead, we should just follow our good conscience and continue doing good deeds and following the word of God.
3. This gospel can address the obstacles to human sexuality because it serves as a reminder to all of us that we should avoid labelling others and rather give others the freedom to do what they want. No matter what sort of gender the person may be – whether gay, straight, bisexual, lesbian, transgendered etc. – we should still remember that they are human and they are not different from everyone else if we just settle the gender labels aside. We should all remember that we are all children of God and we must learn how to love our neighbours as ourselves.

2. The key concepts are concepts about sexuality because adultery is a big part of human sexuality because it is one of its obstacles.

1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
> One of the challenges of this gospel in today's society particularly to the youth is the problem of invalidating our gift of Human Sexuality. In today's generation, many see that its use is mainly for pleasure and not for genuine love. Another challenge this gospel presents is the fact that people condemn others without looking at the sins they commit first. No one is perfect, but God is, and God forgives.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
> Human Sexuality - We must know to treat this as a gift, as it is what Gid has given us to fulfil our task as the stewards of His creations. We must protect it, and use it to show pure love.
> Morality - Before condemning others, we must evaluate ourselves first. We must know our morals, and we must know if what we are doing is right or wrong.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
> This shows that having too much of something is not good. Adultery is an obstacle to human sexuality. As using human sexuality is an act of love, the act of adultery shows that one is not doing it for love. It shows that again, one is just doing it for pleasure. This shows the misuse of our human sexuality, invalidating the gift that God has given us.

ReplyDelete1. The challenges of this gospel in today’s society is the wrong thought of people mistaking love for lust which is why people commit adultery. People abuse sex for pleasure for their own benefit only which leads to sin and taken for granted gifts from God.
2. The key concepts that can be related to this is Human Sexuality. This is because people are now blinded that they could abuse for their own benefit.
3. One of the obstacles to chastity is Adultery since it shows that people lose their love for one another due to the fact that they get disrespected and used and their partner does not commit to them anymore.

ReplyDelete1. The challenges in this gospel are the temptations all around us which make us either hate or become envious of people and nowadays we are used to judging people for the mistakes they have done without knowing their real intentions.
2. A key concept can be conscience. Simply because committing adultery is a sin, and the woman committed this certain sin without considering her conscience
3. Our sexuality is an amazing gift from God, and we shouldn't abuse and take advantage over it.

ReplyDelete1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
The first challenge that people face today is temptation. There have been a lot of cases where adultery occurs, or even pre-marital sex. This gospel focuses on a woman who has committed adultery, it is also against the 10 commandments. However, even if she was at fault, the people who were against her were also at fault. You could call them hypocrites because, they were throwing stones at a woman who has committed a sin yet they weren’t free of sin as well. This is also another challenge to the people of today, because they all tend to be hypocritical of certain things. We have to be careful with what we do, and also believe in what we believe is right for ourselves and others.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
I believe that we can connect most of the concepts from the revalida to this Gospel. It talks about sin, morality, conscience, human sexuality, and many more. We can greatly learn from this Gospel, because it also applies to our society today. This shows that people have temptations, are hypocrites, and other things. Jesus forgave the woman, even if she had committed a sin. We have to remember that we all have different morals, but we must show that we all have ontological dignity which says that we can never change being human but we can change our moral dignity for the better.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
Committing adultery is one of the obstacles to human sexuality. It’s the misuse of our human sexuality because it is doing the action just for pleasure, and also you’re cheating on the person you are married to. Our human sexuality should be used for doing the things with the people that we love. Why marry a person of you’re just going to cheat on him anyway? This greatly goes against our human sexuality, we should be using our sexuality wisely because it is our gift from God.

1.) In today’s society, people continue to bring others down. It is as though no one has ever made mistakes. The hate especially against homosexuals and people of color has not stopped and may never even stop.
2.) From the revalida topics, conscience and human sexuality are the ones that are evident in this gospel. The woman who committed adultery has sinned against her God given human sexuality. Conscience is also evident in this because what we do to others who have sinned also says something about our nature. We must choose to do good and avoid evil at all times.
3.) This gospel reminds us that we all have our own sinful nature. This gospel is a reminder to us that nobody is perfect and that is okay to make mistakes. However, we should not put others down for the mistakes they make. Also, we should use our mistakes to do better.

ReplyDelete1. A challenge that is seen at present time and today's gospel is temptation. Everyone is not perfect and we do sin because of temptation but we should be able to control ourselves to lessen sin.
2. Conscience and Moral freedom are seen in today's gospel and the revalida. We are given the freedom by God to do whatever we want but we should also know which is morally right or wrong. Our conscience will help us know what is truly right or wrong.
3. Conscience and moral freedom will help solve human sexuality problems. As long as we know whats morally right and wrong, and we use our conscience all the time when making decisions, then we will be fine.

The challenge that is present in today's society is temptations. It happens to everyone, and we should be able to resist these temptations.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
The key concept is conscience. People tend to do things without using their own conscience thus causing them to sin without them knowing.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
Using conscience properly as its supposed to be used will be able to solve Human Sexuality. Every single life is a gift from God and we should treat each and everyone kindly and respectfully.

ReplyDelete1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
- In today’s society, everyone is exposed to and tempted by sin. This gospel shows us that people are aware of the fact that they commit sin, especially those who commit sexually immoral acts.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
- Conscience & Christian morality: Conscience serves as our guide in deciding whether something is good/bad. Christian morality tells us to “avoid evil and do what is good”. What this gospel is telling us is to avoid sexual immorality — which is evil.
- Human sexuality: In the gospel, the sexually promiscuous people still committed adultery even though they were aware of it’s evil. It is violating the Christian definition of sexuality, which is a gift from God.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
- Adultery is an obstacle to human sexuality, just like it is to chastity. Sexuality must be an act of love, not just pleasure. Committing adultery violates this, and it is bringing dishonor to God’s gift for us.

ReplyDelete1. The message shown in the gospel is that we face many challenges and one of those challenges present in our society is that we cannot refrain from committing sin. We all know for a fact that it is not easy to refrain from doing this since we are tempted to please ourselves. However as a follower of God I must know how to ask for forgiveness and repent.
2. Conscience and human sexuality are the ones that are evident in this gospel. Since it tells us that sin is our choice, it is part of our conscience, but we still choose to do it. For human sexuality the woman committed adultery thus telling us that, she is not doing what is right and not practicing the right way of what human sexuality really is.
3. With good Conscience and use of our freedom properly, it will help properly solve issues concerning human sexuality problems. With good Conscience and proper use of freedom we can differentiate what is morally right and wrong. Through this we do not only become better individuals but, this also contributes towards a better relationship with God.
1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
ReplyDelete- To the youth, this gospel is challenging in terms of committing sin because we are guilty of that. No one is innocent about committing a sin and people use others’ mistakes to feel better about themselves. People are aware of what they do and they know it’s wrong but they still choose to commit sin and that’s a challenge.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
- One concept would be conscience because the gospel talks about sin and our conscience is related to that. It guides us to do the better thing. Human sexuality is also another topic related here because committing adultery dwells on one’s sexuality as well. It shows how people make wrong choices.
3.HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
- This gospel shows some challenges on human sexuality such as committing adultery because it is immoral to do so. It is a wrong act to do it, therefore we should avoid it. We should follow Christ through thick and thin and learn from our mistakes.

ReplyDelete1. There are different kinds of temptation around us thus resulting in us sinning against God. Everyone in this world have sinned at least once in their lifetime except for Jesus and Mary. The problem is that we do not go to God to ask for forgiveness but we should always repent our sins because God is doing everything He can for us to be with Him someday so we should at least respond to his call by becoming a better person.
Delete2. Conscience and Christian morality because most people nowadays tend to only look at other people’s mistakes often resulting in conflicts and miscommunications. If we apply these topics though then we may be able to prevent all these needless fights and instead just pray, repent, and love the Lord.
3. This topic can address the the obstacles to human sexuality by following God because He is always right and will never be wrong. He will be the one to lead us to the correct path and the only thing we humans have to do is to avoid sins and follow God.

In this Gospel the people tended to judge the woman who committed adultery, yet failed to point out that each of them had flaws of their own. Jesus said that one without sin may be the one to throw the first rock, and from the audience, no one stepped forward. In today's times its important to not judge one for the mistakes they have committed, but to look above and forgive.

ReplyDelete1. The challenge in this gospel was the challenge that the adulterous woman and the people who wanted to stone her had faced. The woman had faced the challenge of living a life that most people deemed offensive while the rest of the people faced the challenge of being hypocrites. Although most of them loudly beckoned to stone her for being what she was, they failed to realize that they too, we're sinners. Society can be like this. They often judge people by their wrongdoings and fail to recognize their own in the process.
2. A key concept from the Revalida topics that can be applied in this gospel is "Freedom from, freedom for, freedom grounded in truth". We must free ourselves from sin and have freedom towards being more devoted Christians. But we cannot do so if we do not acknowledge what each of us should change and improve within ourselves.
3. This gospel addresses the fact that we should preserve our sexuality in a way that we should honor it. Human sexuality is a gift from God, and we should treat it the way we treat every one of His creations. If we treat it as the blessing that it is, then we surely can never fail to use it to honor Him.

ReplyDeleteThe challenge in this gospel is about temptations and sins. It is unavoidable because were teens but through God's words we can heal ourselves and repent for it.
A topic from the Revalida that can be applies here is about morality and conscience. Since we are aware of what we do, we should follow our morals and conscience comes in as a guide for us depending on what we believe in but it mostly leads us in the right path
The gospel teaches us not to take our sexuality for granted. It is a beautiful thing given to us by Gid and we must preserve it and take pride of it.

ReplyDelete1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
Firstly, the more obvious issue in the gospel seen in real life is adultery. A large percentage of committed relationships, even marriages end on the counts of infidelity. Even in the youth, commitment to not only love interests, but other priorities such as education, family, and most especially faith. However, another very prominent issue seen in the gospel is the general hypocrisy of the majority. We condemn others for acts we ourselves do. If we seek to judge others and make known the falsity of their actions, it is our responsibility to make sure that we do not hold the same erroneousness ourselves.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE? DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
Simply, human sexuality due to its applicableness to the infidelity of not only the woman but every person within the crowd. The gospel proves that we are all in fact guilty of violating the concept of human sexuality; therefore, it is our duty make a change before attempting to change others. Furthermore, I believe that the concept of Freedom and Conscience can be applied as well for its merit with regard to it serving as an inspiration for us to make choices along the righteous path of God.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY?
Generally, the obstacles to human sexuality include homosexual acts, the use of contraceptives, and premarital engagements in sexual experiences. All of which point a general lack of reverence of the sanctity of human sexuality. Our sexuality is a gift and should safeguarded from all evil, thus remaining in the confines of matrimony where it is safely solemnized in the eyes of our Lord, God.

Everyone is a sinner. We are not to judge the wrongs of others as only God can do that. All forms of sin are present. This shouldt allow us to decide who lives and who doesnt based on our action as this will be present when we die, seeing if we stay with God or not.
The santity and importance of human life is greater than we imagined. It is never expendable no matter what we do. Just as what was written in the Evangelium Vitae, life must be preserved and reproduced. No matter how grave our actions becomes, life must not be taken away directly. This applies to the removal of death penalty in courts and hearings as it greatly violates this.
In liue of adultery and teenage pregnancy, it is not us to judge the mothers. Though pre marital sex is wrong, we must understand and help them live out their burden with their children. There may also be factors we are not aware such as rape cases which is hard for these mothers to avoid and are not to be blamed for. Finally, the act of abortion must never be considered no matter how embarassing and hard it is to carry a child for a mother. THere is life inside the mother's womb and we must not waste it and terminate it.
