2nd Sunday of Lent Sunday Gospel LK 9:28B-36
Jesus took Peter, John, and James
and went up the mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance
and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus
that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep,
but becoming fully awake,
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus,
“Master, it is good that we are here;
let us make three tents,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
They fell silent and did not at that time
tell anyone what they had seen.

ReplyDeleteGUIDE QUESTIONS IN WRITING THE GOSPEL REFLECTION:
1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
Just like Peter, the youth these days tend to misunderstand and speak too quickly. Peter in the gospel did not know what he was saying because he couldnt comprehend what Christ was doing. Like how we are sometimes, we also tend to do or say things without thinking or understanding.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
The key concept we can relate this to is Orthodoxy and Orthopraxis which is the correct understanding and practice of the faith. In the gospel Peter lacked understanding (Orthodoxy) we did not think of what he was saying. We should always do our best to understand and practice what is true in order to live out our full potential.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
We can relate this to human sexuality in terms of knowing what you get yourself into before you enter. For example you have to know the person you are to marry before you marry them to be able to do God's will.

ReplyDelete1. In a world full of differences, full of opinions, and full of noise, we often forget to listen to one another, and we often tend to believe that what we have to say is of greater importance compared to that of others. However, the Gospel challenges us to be more open-minded and sensitive to those around us. We must always lend our ears to others in order to avoid miscommunication.
2. We would be able to relate it to the three dimensions of faith as well as the foundations of faith, because these topics show how we, as followers of God, put our faith into practice. These concepts are related because the Gospel reminds us that we must listen to what Jesus has to say in order to understand, so that we may be able to apply his teachings in our lives.
3. The Gospel addresses these obstacles because after understand our faith, we must live it out, and that means applying it to our lifestyles which includes our sexuality. If we misunderstand or misinterpret our faith, then we would misinterpret the ways we should use our sexuality.

ReplyDelete1. Youth these days don’t usually participate and tend to skip some of the parts of faith. We are usually guided by our parents because we are unaware of the events happening around us so we put our faith in them. Just like us, when Peter was asleep, he was only guided by Jesus and God, which he put his faith into. He was instructed to do the following thing and he followed. We follow the voices that are around us just like how Peter followed God.
2. The topic that is related to this gospel is the three dimensions of faith. This gospel shows how Peter became a follower of God by following these three dimensions of faith like Moral, Worship, and Doctrine. He practiced moral by helping Jesus spread the word of God. He practiced Worship by trusting God and obeyed his command of God, which is to follow Jesus. He practiced Doctrine by knowing the teachings of God and understanding all of them.
3. Faith is a key concept to marriage. Just like the gospel, we must have faith in our partner and trust him or else the relationship will not work.
1.) The youth nowadays tend to forget to listen to one another and that they just listen to what they have to say. This is bad because we do not listen to the guidance of those who know better. We do not open our minds and thoughts to what other people say making us blind to what may be correct.
ReplyDelete2.) we can relate this to the concepts of the 3 dimension of faith. These concepts are related to the gospel because we must listen to what Jesus has to say, to listen we must also understand and to understand we must practice.
3.) We must live out our faith correctly. It is important to know the person who you will spend your whole life with.

ReplyDelete1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
In today's society, we tend to make rash decisions without fully grasping a situation. Through these rash decisions, we tend to create misunderstandings, which later may lead to the creation of even greater problems. The youth must learn to slow down and hear what God has to say before making any choices in our lives.
2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
We can apply the topic, "the foundations of faith: orthodoxy and orthopraxis", to this gospel. We see that God envelopes the apostles in a cloud to then tell them to listen to what Jesus has to say. From this we learn that God tells us to have faith in Him and His son, Jesus, and to follow Him through His journey.
3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
Day in and day out, we are constantly bombarded by temptation. This gospel teaches us to seek God first and His teachings in making decisions. With God watching over our shoulder to drive us away from sin and from falling into the worldly temptations, we will surely overcome any obstacles that might prevent us from living out the full potential of our sexuality.

2. We can apply the concept of the three dimensions of faith to this gospel. To have doctrine, moral and worship in our life treated as equal parts, this would mean that we have the correct understanding and practice of faith (orthodoxy, orthopraxis).
3. This gospel is for those that are blinded by the obstacles of human sexuality. It teaches us that we must know that it is just to see the real and rightful thing. This gospel points out that God is always around and we must have faith in him to seek his guidance when faced with the temptations of the obstacles to chastity

ReplyDelete1. In today’s society, people tend to shrug away the possibilities of anything that may seem unreal. In the gospel, it is evident that people can just focus on what they want to believe in so they end up blindsiding their own selves.
2. From the revalida topics, I can connect this gospel to freedom and conscience. As mentioned in the lesson, we attain true freedom when we love God and others. Conscience is what helps us avoid sin so in relation to the gospel, the people did not abuse their freedom by disobeying.
3. This gospel addresses obstacles to human sexuality by showing that young adults can easily fall into temptation, which is why we need to stand firm in our faith and beliefs so that we can avoid unfaithful acts and sins. With this gospel, we are also able to address the problem of being masters of our sexuality.

ReplyDelete1. In today's time, there are many things that influences us easily. People tend to close their minds from other people's ideas becuase they are too busy just thinking about what they think are right. We should all open our minds to learn more.
2. The topic that we can relate is the three dimensions of faith: doctrine, moral and faith. Each one of us should be fulfilling each of this so that we can have a strong faith in Christ. We should not forget that we should practice each and every dimension. We ahould have proper understanding of the doctrine and put it into practice.
3. This gospel addresses the problem of human sexuality by helping us learn that we should always have a strong in our God. Every one of us is tempted that is why a strong faith can keep us from sinning.

2. I can apply the concepts of orthodoxy and orthopraxis in this because we ought to figure out how to utilize these and if we don't, we will have more serious issues in life that can influence our actions.
3. The gospel reminds me of the obstacle of being faithful. It is a very important factor in our life because without faith, we would not feel His presence and we would not be who we are today without it.

ReplyDeleteThis gospel can be seen especially in the youth because like Peter, they tend to say the first thing that comes to their mind even without knowing how greatly it can affect a person. The youth nowadays, says whatever they want even if they don't understand what it means.
The concept that can be applied is the foundations of faith which is orthodoxy and orthopraxis. This is because in the gospel, Peter lacked correct understanding however if these two foundations were present in his mind, he would fully understand the situation and would be fully aware of what he is saying.
This gospel serves as a reminder for people who are lost and for those who do not understand God's teachings. These people must always remember that God is always with them as long as they practice and understand His teachings.
Sofia L. Lamberte J-E
ReplyDelete1. One challenge posed in this gospel is the forgetfulness of people towards being open-minded to one another. We tend to forget that in this world, there are people who may have completely different views and cultures from us and so we should just come to accept it and pay respect.
2. Proper understanding (Orthoproxy) and practice (Orthopraxis) are two of the significant concepts applied in this scenario since we need to learn to understand God's will spiritually and figuratively, for our Lord is an omniscient being who speaks in many languages. We should not become too literal in following his works and instead should reflect thoroughly on how they apply in our lives today.
3. The gospel relates to addressing the obstacles of human sexuality where it teaches us not to be astray from the path of chastity and purity in God's natural law. It helps us understand ourselves better and understand our purpose as God's stewards

ReplyDelete1. Our generation judge people quickly, even without truly understanding the current situation. It is important to know what comes out of our mouths, think before speaking, and listen people once in a while.
2. The revalida topic involving freedom in the new testament can be applied. Freedom is not doing anything that you want and can do, but it is following the footsteps of Christ. We must listen to other people, and have knowledge of the situation before speaking.
