GOSPEL#2 TERM 3 JUNIOR-F

2nd Sunday of Lent Sunday Gospel LK 9:28B-36

Jesus took Peter, John, and James
and went up the mountain to pray.
While he was praying his face changed in appearance
and his clothing became dazzling white.
And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus
that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem.
Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep,
but becoming fully awake,
they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.
As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus,
“Master, it is good that we are here;
let us make three tents,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
But he did not know what he was saying.
While he was still speaking,
a cloud came and cast a shadow over them,
and they became frightened when they entered the cloud.
Then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
They fell silent and did not at that time
tell anyone what they had seen.

    1. The challenges of this gospel in today’s society is our correct practice of faith. It has been stated in the gospel that the men were frightened when a cloud came and they entered it, but in the end, they were drawn to the fact that they should instead listen to their faith in God and his chosen Son, Jesus. In short, we should never doubt the faith that we have in the Lord despite the various temptations everywhere in our surroundings.

    2. A key concept from the revalida topics that I can apply is the concept of faith. Despite any temptation or hardship that we may encounter in our lives, we must remember to maintain our good practices and understanding of our own individual faith (orthodoxy and orthopraxis). In addition to this, we must simply believe, trust, and do whatever is said in the word of God. The gospel is simply telling us to balance the three dimensions of Christ in all aspects to bring out the real follower of God in us.

    3. This gospel has the ability to address the obstacles to human sexuality for it may serve as a realisation to everyone around us that we all are born with a blank slate, and from there, we thus have our own individual choice on who we want to become. We must remember to avoid being too judgmental towards the people around us and become more sensitive. Pope Francis once stated, “If someone is gay and searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” Gender aside, as long as they are in the likeness of the Lord, we should not judge them. Additionally, we should live by the saying, “Don’t judge the book by its cover”. Remember to always judge the quality of the person’s attitude and not the quality of the person’s looks. We should also never lose our faith in God because this is what helps us remain humble with our actions and remember to love our neighbours more than ourselves.

    1) The challenges present in this gospel is that we lack faith. We always question God's decisions for us, instead of questioning them, we should understand why He would do these things to us, look at it from another point of view.

    2) One revalida concept i can apply to this gospel is Jesus calls us to true freedom. I believe that things happen for a reason and this is Jesus' way of bringing is towards the right path and bringing us closer to God. We should keep in mind never to question God for He is the mightiest, kindest, smartest, and greatest.

    3) one major obstacle to human sexuality is sin since sin rejects the good to which we are directed by our conscience, refuses God’s love in the moral law, and breaks our fundamental loving relationship with God, others and even ourselves.

    1. They faced fear and doubt. That is very present in today's society and especially young people. We are all fearful and uncertain instead of trusting God.

    2. The Gospel can be related to several topics tackled in our Revlida can be related to this Gospel. We see the glory of God, the God who calls us to true freedom. Concepts of Freedom and Christian Anthropology can be applied in the Gospel.

    3. Uncertainty can lead to temptation and temptation can lead to sin. We must have faith in the glorious God and listen tom Him to live a life in faith and chastity

    1. The challenges we face in present day that can be seen in the gospel reflection is faith. In today's present time, the youth are lost between who they are and what to believe in. We, the youth, can get confused sometimes on who really is God and why should we follow Him. We sometimes doubt the Lord and it affects our faith with Him and ourselves.

    2. One topic in the revalida that can be seen in today's gospel is faith. Faith is very important with our relationship with God because without faith, what is there to believe in. We need faith in God before we need to have faith in ourselves.

    3. This gospel can address the problem of human sexuality because faith is all we need to find ourselves. Human sexuality is finding ourselves and looking for who we really are. Before we find ourselves, we need to ask God for help and have faith in him and whatever He says, we should follow.

  6. 1) The challenges seen in this gospel is that we have small faith and hope. We should not doubt God for a moment because we know he's doing it for the best.

    2) A revalida concept i can relate to this gospel is freedom or free of choice. I believe that the choices we make come from our freeness or our freedom to do whatever we want, we must not shy away from this because it is part of Gods plan, and we should embrace it. We should keep in mind never to question Him, but rather believe in Him even more.

    3) Sin is an obstacle to human sexuality. Sin does not help us make a better relationship with God, but rather it does the opposite of this.

  7. 1. The challenges faced in this gospel is fhat we lack faith in God. This practice is wrong because we should always listen to God and never doubt Him in His decisions that He makes for us.
    2. The gospel can be related from the Revalida is Christian Anthropology. We must remember that we are made in Gods likeness and image and that Jesus saved us from our sins.
    3. The main obstacle to human sexuallity is sin. Sinning is bad and very wrong therefore we must never do it because it is going against God and His rules.

    1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
✶ I believe it is that Peter, James, and John being asleep represents the faith of the people in the present day. There are times wherein some people “fall asleep” or forget about the coming of the Lord. Those that this happens to, may not be enlightened by Jesus’ coming.

    2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
✶ The revalida topic that may be connected to this is that Jesus’ calls us to true freedom. I think it can connect because it depends on us whether or not we can use our true freedom to wait for Him.

    3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
✶ We should remain awake and not fall asleep in the hope of the coming of our Lord, saviour, Jesus Christ

1.) One of the challenges society faces is the lack of faith. Nowadays, people find it hard to believe that God is really there. We are so filled with temptations and distractions that we are not aware that God is already right before us presenting His plan for us.

2.) The key concepts from the revalida present in this gospel are the dimensions of faith and the foundations of faith. These topics talk about faith, what we need in order to truly live a faithful life. We can not simply rely on faith and have no action about this faith and vice versa. I think that these topics really educate us and teach us that faith without action is worth nothing.

3.) In order to safeguard our sexuality, we must be strong in faith. Our human sexuality is something that is very sacred and it is important that we protect the sacredness of this at all times. In times of temptation, we must pray to God, ask for guidance and seek strength in Him in order for our bodies and sexuality to remain sacred.

    1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?

One of the challenges in today’s society is following the will of God and doing the right thing. Most people dont have the initiative to do the right thing because they are afraid of people gossiping behind their backs.

    2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.

Christian Morality: A call to true freedom by God. This is the topic i chose because true freedom lies in following the path god lit for us. His will must be followed and we should not sin against him.

    3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
One of the obstacles is sin. Sin leads to the destruction of souls. We can avoid this by respecting others for who they are.

    1. WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF THIS GOSPEL IN TODAY'S SOCIETY PARTICULARLY TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE YOU?
    > A challenge presented in this gospel that is again present in today's society is faith. Many people, especially the youth, lack faith nowadays as they are preoccupied with many of the world's obstacles to Christianity. We must learn to always set time aside for God, as He is the reason why we are here and alive today.

    2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
    > Faith - We must learn that faith is our foundation of our relationship with God. With faith, anything is possible. We must believe in God to be able to fulfil his task and spread His word.
    > Morality - We must know the difference between right and wrong, and together with this, following in God's path is one of the things that is always the right to do.

    3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
    > In times we lack faith, it may lead us to sin, and again give in to the obstacles to Human Sexuality. We must always keep faith with us as it is what helps us to fulfil his task as stewards of His creation, and helps us protect our gift of Human Sexuality.

-The gospel talks about the lack of faith of people. In the gospel, it says that they became afraid when the cloud shadowed over them. We need to keep our faith strong and develop it every single day. We should learn from this gospel and never doubt God for He has a plan for us.

    2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
-The Three Dimensions of Faith can be applied in this gospel. There are 3 dimensions that we need to work on in order to live a life full of faith. We must always keep this and never doubt God because He has a plan for us. We have to keep this faith strong and develop it with each passing day.

    3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
-Sin is usually caused by people not having enough faith. When we lack faith, we usually sin in order to compensate for this. We have to keep our faith strong in order to remain chaste and live a life full of christianity.

    1) The challenges present in this gospel is lack of faith. People nowadays doubt what God can do, they do not know that He always has a plan for each of us which is for our own good.

    2) One revalida concept i can apply to this gospel is Jesus calls us to true freedom. God is here for a reason and that reason is because He made us to multiply to better all His creations and not to take them for granted.

    3) One major obstacle to human sexuality is sin due to the fact that it separates us from God. Why would we want to be separated from The One who created us all to live in this beautiful world.

This Gospel states how we take things like extracurriculars and such above prayers, we lose our faith in God because we're too distracted by worldly deeds, we must focus on God and on the words he shares rather than our

    2. WHAT KEY CONCEPTS FROM THE REVALIDA TOPICS CAN YOU BEST APPLY HERE.DISCUSS THOROUGHLY.
A key concept noted from revalida is the three dimensions of faith, this basically states how important is to have faith and to have God in our life.

    3. HOW CAN THIS GOSPEL ADDRESS THE OBSTACLES TO HUMAN SEXUALITY.
God teaches us to have faith in him, and that through our faith we will be able to resist temptation and resist falling to these.

  21. 1. This gospel talks about trust and a challenge would be having faith in people. I know that it is hard to have a strong faith and to believe in someone with all your heart, but we need to overcome that. This truly is a challenge because we need to trust God’s plan for us.
    2. A key concept would be Christian Morality because we need to be aware of our actions and how they go against our morals. We need to do what is right even though it is hard for us. Another concept would be faith because we need to fully trust God for the things He’s doing for us. It’s all for a good cause.
    3. We commit sin because we lack faith. This becomes an obstacle to human sexuality because someone has weak faith, he/she tends to fall into temptations and commits mistakes. This mistake may be going against human sexuality and we need to be aware of this obstacle.

God is present within all our world yet many are loosing faith in him, having other materials and figures as their focus. Atheism is spreading as our generation do not have a strong foundation on the correct teachings and views of faith. Other factors of the lack of faith are the bad lifestyles and negative events occuring in our lives that we blame God for, making us loose our belief in him. The apostles however, maintained their faith to the end despite their challenges and hardships and discrimination. This is very much different to the modern world.

With our Christian Living class through the school year, we discussed the dimensions of faith. This concept allowed us to understand the meaning of faith and help us regain and strengthen it. With good, moral actions and deeds in our everyday life (moral), correct study of the Gospel and the teachings of Jesus and the Church (doctrine) and prayer to God (worhip), we are able to maintain our faith in God despite negative circumstances in our lives. We also require orthodoxy which is the correct understanding of faith and orthopraxis which is its correct practice.

The prescence of sin is due to our lack of faith. If we stop to believe in God, we also have a mindset to stop doing his teachings and morals as there is no reason to follow them. This makes way for sin to enter such as pre marital sex. The lack of faith creates more temptations to sin and forget teachings such as those on the importance of our sexuality and its sanctity as an act of reproduction and not on pleasure. We must maintain and strengthen our faith in order to combat sin.

    1. Our faith in the Lord has been very diminished in the present society. Many Christian have probably asked themselves, "Is there really, truly, God in our lives? Is he real?" They have started to grow distant from God and Jesus Christ an turn to other froms of gods they deem more important.

    2. A key concept I relate to this gospel is Christian faith. We must all unconditionally follow the Lord for he has sacrificed so much for us, His children. And as His children, we must follow the mission He has give us that will lead us to eternal life. By following His teachings, we follow our Christian faith and protect our freedom.

    3. This can relate to human sexuality by having faith in others. Having faith that they will see the wrong in discriminating ones human sexuality and repent for the sins related to it.

    1. The challenge in this gospel was the challenge that Peter and his companions had faced. They were once overcome by sleep, but when they saw Jesus's transformation, they became afraid. Before the transformation, Peter had said to Jesus: “Master, it is good that we are here; let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” This showed that he was willing to sacrifice and put in effort for him, before he felt fear. This situation may be similar to what the young people are facing right now—they are afraid to continue showing their faith when they face an obstacle.

    2. A key concept from the Revalida topics that can be applied in this gospel is "Christian Morality: A Call to Follow Christ in True Freedom". The title is self-explanatory. It depicts the concept of following Him wherever he goes. As Christians, we have the right and freedom to speak what we want and act how we want. But as true followers of Christ, we have the responsibility of using this freedom for good. Not only should we use this to develop our relationships with other people, but most importantly, our relationship with Him.

    3. Fear often holds people back from dictating what they want to express. Human sexuality is one of these things. As a human being, our sexuality is a gift that God has given each and every one of us. We must use this to improve our state of mind, not tarnish it. But we can never do so if we allow to let fear conquer us.

The main challenge of this Gospel is the lack of faith in many of those of in the generation of young people such as myself. Among those in today’s generation wherein technology and social media has contributed to the speeding up of everyday tasks, so many of us are distracted and don’t take the time to pray or focus on God. This in turn causes us to forget what our faith has done for us. The Gospel reminds us that we should take the time slow down and pray. It also reminds us to keep our faith in God and in ourselves.

One of the main concepts from the revalida that can be applied here is the Three Dimensions of faith. This basically reminds us that to have a proper understanding and practice of faith we must follow, understand, and practice the three dimensions, doctrine, moral, and faith equally.

Our sinful acts are a result of our lack of faith. Because our lack of faith, and understanding of it, we begin t move further away from the teachings of the Church. This in turn leads us into temptation. This then becomes an obstacle to human sexuality because without proper faith, or may fall to temptation and, in some cases, forget about the sanctity of human sexuality.
